Eld Inlet is an inlet located at the southern end of Puget Sound in Thurston County, Washington. It is the second southernmost arm of Puget Sound after neighboring Budd Inlet.

Mud Bay is the southernmost reach of Puget Sound, at Eld Inlet just outside the city limits of Olympia, Washington. The name Eld Inlet was officially bestowed after a member of the U.S. Navy's Wilkes Expedition, but "Mud Bay" is a local, informal adoption.: 217 It was once a highly productive ground for the Olympia Oyster. The first Indian Shaker Church building was constructed above the bay c. 1890, Mud Bay being the home of the founder Sam "Mud Bay Sam" Yowaluch, the first Bishop of the church.: 3 The Mud Bay Logging Company ran a railroad to the bay where they had a log dump.

Simmons Creek is a stream in Thurston County in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a tributary to the Eld Inlet.Simmons Creek was named after the Simmons family, which harvested oysters.

Grass Lake Nature Park is a nature reserve in Olympia, Washington. The park has an area of 195.71 acres (79.20 ha).The central feature of the park is Grass Lake, a reservoir dammed in 1966. Swamp grass in the lake accounts for the name.The lake and surrounding wetland has been owned by the City of Olympia since the 1980s. Amenities include a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) hiking trail.

It enters Puget Sound at the southern end of Mud Bay on Eld Inlet.McLane Creek was named after William McLane, a pioneer settler and territorial politician.In 1999, ashes of Kurt Cobain were scattered in McLane Creek by his daughter.

Mud Bay Indian Shaker Church is the first church built by the Indian Shaker Church.The first Shaker Indian church, also called the "mother church", was built c. 1885 near Olympia, then the capital of Washington Territory. The structure was built on a shoulder of the Black Hills above Mud Bay, at the southern end of Eld Inlet, an arm of Puget Sound. It was near the homes of Louis "Mud Bay Louie" Yowaluch (aka Mud Bay Louis) and his brother Sam "Mud Bay Sam" Yowaluch, co-founders of the church, first and second "headman"s respectively. Mud Bay Sam was the first Bishop (church leader) after incorporation of Shaker Indian Church in 1910.The original church was oriented in an east-west direction, in a manner that would set the pattern for subsequent church architecture. The earliest several churches were about 18-by-24-foot (5.5 m × 7.3 m) plain wooden buildings with 10-foot (3.0 m) shingle roofs, stout wooden doors and floors. The Mud Bay church was rebuilt in 1910.

Yauger Park is a mixed-use recreation and sports park in Olympia, Washington across from Capital Mall. The park contains a natural filtering water retention system that serves as a wetland preserve and is home to a community and demonstration garden. The 49-acre (20 ha) park was created in the early 1980s on land once owned by the Yauger family. The grounds were purposefully constructed to flood and the stormwater retention area was expanded twice, in 1995 and during a large scale project completed in 2011. A system of bioswales, ponds, rain gardens, and weirs can hold up to 27 million US gallons (100 Ml) of urban runoff from hundreds of acres in the surrounding West Olympia neighborhood. The natural filtration system connects with other bodies of water, including Capitol Lake, delivering clean water throughout the local ecosystem until it reaches Budd Inlet. The ponds, located in the southern portion of the park, form part of a 5-acre (2.0 ha) wetland area and during most of the year, is home to various species of aquatic creatures and waterfowl. The stormwater grounds were intentionally built to create a habitat for wildlife. A forested area in the northern portion, near the gardens, is home to a variety of birds. Most sports and recreational amenities were built as part of the early beginnings of Yauger Park. Features include baseball fields and space for additional sports, a competition horseshoe pit area, a jogging path, a nature trail, playground, and a skate park. The skate park was built in 2000 after a community-led initiative. Ongoing issues at Yauger Park regarding safety, such as drug use and homeless camps, have been a focal point in the 21st century. Yauger Park contains the last athletic complex created in Olympia.
