York Hospital

Wigginton Road Cricket Ground in York is a former cricket ground. Its one and only first-class match was held in June 1890 between Yorkshire and Kent. The ground was then known as the Yorkshire Gentlemen Cricket Club Ground, having been used by the Yorkshire Gentlemen from its inception in 1864 to 1931. Its name was changed in 1933 to Wigginton Road and was used from 1932 to 1966 by York Cricket Club. Wigginton Road Cricket Ground is now covered by York Hospital which lies to the west side of Wiggington Road.

Clarence Street is a former rugby stadium in York, England. From 1885 until 1989 it was the home of York F.C. (later York R.L.F.C.) before being sold and demolished. The site is now housing.

Bootham is a street in the city of York, in England, leading north out of the city centre. It is also the name of the small district surrounding the street.

Rowntree Halt was a minor unmanned railway stop on the Foss Islands branch line in York. Located on the southern edge of the Rowntree's chocolate factory, Rowntree Halt was opened in 1927 by the London and North Eastern Railway to provide a low-volume, not publicly advertised passenger service to the Rowntree factory for workers commuting from areas south of York such as Selby and Doncaster. The halt itself was little more than a single short platform located a few yards west of a signal-protected siding that allowed freight directly into the factory complex. Passenger services ceased in 1988, and the station was officially closed on 8 July 1988. The line was dismantled and turned into a cycle track.

Bootham Crescent in York, England, was the home of York City Football Club and York City Knights rugby league club. With a capacity of 8,256, it was near the city centre, just over a mile from York railway station. As of February 2023 the ground has been fully demolished to make way for the building of new houses. York City leased land at Bootham Crescent from York Cricket Club as a replacement for their ground at Fulfordgate on the outskirts of the city. The ground was constructed in four months, and opened on 31 August 1932. In the Second World War, the Popular Stand was converted into an air-raid shelter, and the ground suffered slight damage when a bomb landed on houses along the Shipton Street End. York purchased Bootham Crescent for £4,075 in 1948. Floodlights were fitted at the ground in 1959, and replaced by ones twice as powerful in 1995. A number of improvements were made in the early 1980s, with a gymnasium, offices and a lounge for officials built. The David Longhurst Stand opened in 1991 after a roof was erected on the Shipton Street End, named after the former York player David Longhurst who died during a match at the ground in 1990. Bootham Crescent hosted Football League matches from 1932 to 2004 and from 2012 to 2016, both spells ending after York were relegated into non-League football. The ground was renamed KitKat Crescent from 2005 to 2010 as part of a sponsorship deal with Nestlé. York City left Bootham Crescent and moved to the York Community Stadium in Huntington in early 2021, and the Bootham Crescent site will be used for housing. Bootham Crescent comprises four stands: the Main Stand, the Popular Stand, the David Longhurst Stand and the Grosvenor Road End. The ground has held a league representative match, neutral club matches, and schoolboy and youth international matches. Other than football, it has hosted a concert, firework display, American football and rugby league matches and beer festivals. The record attendance of 28,123 was set in March 1938, for an FA Cup match against Huddersfield Town. The highest seasonal average attendance of 10,412 was achieved in 1948–49.

Bootham Park Hospital was a psychiatric hospital, located in the Bootham district of York, England. It was managed by the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. The main building is a Grade I listed building.

York St John University (originally established as York Diocesan College), often abbreviated to YSJ, is a public university located on a large urban campus in York, England. Established in 1841, it achieved university status in 2006 and in 2015 the university was given research degree awarding powers for PhD and doctoral programmes.It is one of several higher education institutions which have religious foundations and is part of the Cathedrals Group of Universities.In 2022, there were 8,350 students, reading a wide variety of subjects, across five schools: School of the Arts; School of Education, Language and Psychology; School of Humanities; School of Science, Technology and Health; and York Business School.

BBC Radio York is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of North Yorkshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios in the Bootham area of York. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 59,000 listeners and a 3.6% share as of December 2022.

Bootham School is a private Quaker boarding school, on Bootham in the city of York in England. It accepts boys and girls ages 3–19, and had an enrolment of 605 pupils in 2016. It is one of seven Quaker schools in England. The school was founded by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and opened on 6 January 1823 in Lawrence Street, York. Its first headmaster was William Simpson (1823–1828). He was followed by John Ford (1828-c.1865). The school is now on Bootham, near York Minster, in a building originally built in 1804 for Sir Richard Vanden Bempde Johnstone. The school's motto Membra Sumus Corporis Magni means "We are members of a greater body", quoting Seneca the Younger (Epistle 95, 52).

York Deanery is an historic building in York, England. It has been designated a Grade II listed building by Historic England. The property is located around 400 feet (120 m) to the north of York Minster, on Minster Yard, and behind York Minster Library. The building, designed in the neo-Georgian style by architects Rutherford and Syme (one of their final works), is of red brick with ashlar dressings. It has a plain-tile hipped roof, with four chimney stacks. It replaced an earlier residence of the Dean of York.The front gate of the property, which opens out onto the cul-de-sac that makes up the northern end of Minster Yard, is topped by the coats of arms of the Diocese of York.

The Old Palace in the city of York, North Yorkshire, England, is also known as the Minster Library and is in Dean's Park. It houses York Minster’s library and archives as well as the Collections Department and conservation studio. Its name is a new one and renders homage to the part of the building that used to be the chapel of the Archbishop of York, which was built in the 13th century.
