Fife Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,137 at the 2010 census. The community is bordered by Federal Way on the north, Milton on the east, Fife on the south, and Tacoma on the west. It is contained within the Puyallup Indian Reservation.

Northeast Tacoma is a neighborhood in Tacoma, Washington. The generally accepted borders of Northeast Tacoma are the Port of Tacoma to the southwest, the unincorporated Fife Heights area to the southeast, the end of incorporated Tacoma at the Browns Point border to the northwest, and the King County border to the northeast. Its nearly 17,000 residents — roughly one in 12 Tacomans — are severed from the rest of the city by the shipyards, container cranes and grit of the Port of Tacoma. Due to the separation from the main part of the city by the Port of Tacoma area, Northeast Tacoma is the most suburban and isolated neighborhood of Tacoma. Many homes in the area have views, partially owing to the hilly terrain. Indian Hill is, at 530 feet above sea level, the highest point in incorporated Tacoma. On city maps, Northeast Tacoma is everything within city limits on the east side of Commencement Bay above the Tideflats. Farther north, Browns Point and its historic lighthouse, and Dash Point and its park and pier, are both distinct places with distinct characters, indistinctly identified as unincorporated Pierce County. The children that live in Northeast Tacoma generally attend one of the three public elementary schools (Northeast Elementary, Browns Point Elementary, or Crescent Heights Elementary). All three of the elementary schools feed into Northeast Tacoma's Jerry Meeker Middle School. With the completion of middle school, Northeast Tacoma residents typically attend Stadium High School. Some students choose to attend Federal Way schools, such as Decatur High School. The median Northeast Tacoma household income is about $83,000, just over the North End, at $77,000, and well above Tacoma average, at $51,000. Both areas have much higher housing prices than the Tacoma average, lower poverty, and are more ethnically homogeneous.

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians ( pew-AL-əp; Twulshootseed: spuyaləpabš, lit. 'people of the bend'; commonly known as the Puyallup Tribe) is a federally-recognized tribe of Puyallup people from western Washington state, United States. The tribe is primarily located on the Puyallup Indian Reservation, although they also control off-reservation trust lands. The Puyallup Tribe was established in 1936 after the Indian Reorganization Act, although the reservation was established in 1854 in the Treaty of Medicine Creek. Currently, the tribe has approximately 4,000 citizens. Its membership is descended from the aboriginal Puyallup peoples, as well as other non-Puyallup peoples who were moved to the reservation. Other Puyallup citizens are descendants of other tribes. The population of Puyallup citizens who reside on the reservation is 2,500, which is 3.2% of the reservation's 41,000 total population. The tribe's government is enshrined in its constitution, and is composed of an elected government, the Puyallup Tribal Council, and the three tribal courts: the Puyallup Tribal Court, the Puyallup Tribal Court of Appeals, and the Puyallup Tribal Children's Court. The laws of the Puyallup Tribe defined the authority of the courts as separate and equal to the Tribal Council.

U.S. Oil & Refining Co. is an oil refinery located in the tideflats of Tacoma, Washington.

Fire Station No. 15 is a fire station located in Tacoma, Washington listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by Tacoma architect, M. J. Nicholson, in 1928. It is no longer in active service since being shuttered when Tacoma relocated Engine 15 to Tacoma's lower east side in 2012, but as of 2017 is being considered for renovation and reopening. Due to the fact that there is now a different active Station 15, this location has been renamed as Station 5 following the closure of the previous Station 5, a defunct fireboat facility.

The Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center is an aquatic facility in Federal Way, Washington constructed for the 1990 Goodwill Games. It has hosted US Olympic Diving Team Trials in 2000 and 2012, NCAA championships, PAC-12 conference championships, USA Swimming Winter National championships and Speedo Junior National championships. Over 200 world records have been set at the center.The center is open to the public for open swim, pool exercise, family swim, lessons and lap swim.

KHHO (850 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Tacoma, Washington, United States, the station serves the Tacoma portion of the Seattle-Tacoma radio market. The station is an affiliate of Black Information Network and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. The studios are in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood northwest of downtown. KHHO operates at 10,000 watts by day; because 850 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A KOA in Denver, KHHO must reduce power at night to 1,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is located off 30th Avenue East in Tacoma.

The Port of Tacoma is an independent seaport located in Tacoma, Washington. The port was created by a vote of Pierce County citizens on November 5, 1918. The Edmore was the first ship to call at the port in 1921. The port's marine cargo operations, among the largest in the United States, was merged with the Port of Seattle's in 2015 to form the Northwest Seaport Alliance.

Lake Puyallup developed along the south edge of the Puget Sound Glacier. The glacier was in retreat northward after having reached its most southerly point. Drainage off the north face of Mount Rainier and the melting ice of the glacier was trapped in the valley of the Puyallup River. As the glacier moved north, the lake grew until it reached its largest capacity with the glacier at the glacial front across the Puyallup valley just south of Commencement Bay at Tacoma and northern bend of the White River at Auburn. When the ice retreated further north, it was reduced in depth and volume and takes on the name of Lake Tacoma.

The Tacoma station was a passenger rail station in Tacoma, Washington, owned by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (the "Milwaukee Road"). It opened in 1954 and closed in 1961. It was the Milwaukee Road's final station in Tacoma, replacing a station formerly owned by the Tacoma Eastern Railroad.
