Warnborough Road

Walton Manor is a residential suburb in Oxford, England. It is north of Jericho and the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter and forms part of North Oxford. The street layout and many of the area's buildings date from the mid-19th century. It was developed on land belonging to St John's College, Oxford. In 1975, Walton Manor was designated as a Conservation Area under the Town and Country Planning Act 1971. The conservation area is bounded by Leckford Road on the north, Woodstock Road on the east, the properties fronting Observatory Street to the south, and Kingston Road and Walton Street to the west. The main road north–south through the area is Kingston Road, which continues southwards as Walton Street towards the city centre. Walton Manor has a residents' association. Walton Manor Farm used to be on the site of St Sepulchre's Cemetery, in Jericho, just south of the Eagle Ironworks on Walton Well Road.

Farndon Road is a residential road in North Oxford, England.At the western end of the road is a junction with Kingston Road and Southmoor Road continues opposite. At the eastern end is a junction with Woodstock Road (A4144), a major arterial road out of Oxford to the north, with St Hugh's College opposite. Warnborough Road leads south midway along the road to Leckford Road. To the north, St Margaret's Road is parallel with Farndon Road. The area where Farndon Road is located in Walton Manor was originally owned by St John's College, Oxford. Before its development for residential use, there a railway station here for the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway was proposed, but was not built. Houses in the road were first leased by the college between 1879 and 1887. Nos 10, 11, 25, and 26 were designed by the architect William Wilkinson. Nos 1–5 are by John Galpin and George Shirley and nos 18–25 are by William Wilkinson and Harry Wilkinson Moore. The houses are in a late Victorian style, semi-detached, and of substantial brick construction. A number were built by the builder John Money, who himself leased 26 Farndon Road.The Alexandra Residential Club has a building on the northern corner of Farndon Road at 133 Woodstock Road that provides affordable accommodation for about 100 young women studying or working in Oxford. It was opened by Princess Alexandra in 1971, hence the name. It has been run by the YWCA and more recently the Ealing Family Housing Association.1 Farndon Road was the home of the architect Harry Drinkwater until his death in 1895 and of the urban planner and writer Thomas Sharp in the 20th century. The poet Lee Gerlach wrote a poem Sharp's Oxford, #1 Farndon Road.

Leckford Road is a road in North Oxford, England. It runs between Kingston Road to the west and Woodstock Road to the east.

Kingston Road is a road in Oxford, England. It continues north from Walton Street, at the junction with Walton Well Road to the west and St Bernard's Road to the east, running parallel with and to the west of Woodstock Road. Kingston Road is the main road in Walton Manor. At the northern end, there is a staggered junction with Aristotle Lane to the west and Polstead Road to the east. The road continues as Hayfield Road. Southmoor Road and Southmoor Place lead off Kingston Road to the west. The area was formerly part of the estate of St John's College, Oxford. Kingston Road is named after the village of Kingston Bagpuize, whose Church of England parish church is under the patronage of the college. Many of the houses in Kingston Road are terraced, created as part of the generally grander North Oxford estate to the east. Numbers 114–138, 149–156 and 159–164 are terraces built in 1870–75 by the local architect C.C. Rolfe. All are Grade II listed buildings.In the Victorian era the families in Kingston Road were more often from the local area than those in the rest of the estate. In 1881, 40.7% of the families were artisans.

Wyndham House is a retirement home in North Oxford, England.Wyndham House was officially opened in June 1973 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Also in attendance were Fred Ingram, the Lord Mayor of Oxford, who was involved with the scheme to establish the project. Others present included Lady Jean Rankin, a lady-in-waiting, and the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough. The facility replaced a home for elderly people in Banbury Road in North Oxford. The site was provided by St John's College, Oxford, who historically owned much of the land in the area, locally called Walton Manor. Originally, Wyndham House was a project of the British Red Cross although the connection with the Red Cross ceased in 1976. The home was previously run by the Wyndham Housing Association. It is now run by the Anchor Hanover Group.Wyndham House is located on Plantation Road and also abuts Leckford Place off Leckford Road. Opposite on Leckford Place are part of d'Overbroeck's College (for Year 7 to Year 11) and a public house on the corner with Plantation Road, The Gardener's Arms.

Plantation Road is a residential road in North Oxford, England, connecting Kingston Road to the west with Woodstock Road to the east.To the north is Leckford Road and to the south is St Bernard's Road. Leckford Place crosses it halfway along. The eastern part of the road is very narrow, almost like a village lane despite now being in a city suburb. In the past there was a plantation here, hence the name. The road was laid out with building plots by 1832. The philanthropic Oxford Cottage Improvement Company built a block of seven cottages in 1888 on the south side of the road. The Gardener's Arms public house, at 39 Plantation Road on the corner with Leckford Place, dates from the late 1830s and has a vegetarian restaurant. The 20th-century Wyndham House, officially opened by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1973, provides sheltered housing with 33 flats, also on a corner with Leckford Place. The Jericho Chiropractic Clinic is at 16 Plantation Road.Towards the end of his life, the diplomat and author Sir Reader Bullard (1885–1976) lived in Plantation Road.

St Margaret's Church is a church in North Oxford, England. It is near the northern end of Kingston Road, at the corner of St Margaret's Road. The church was built between 1883 and 1893. The building is Grade II listed. The parish War Memorial adjoins the southwestern end of St. Margaret's churchyard. Dedicated in 1920, it is in the form of a calvary.

St Bernard's Road is a residential road in North Oxford, England, connecting the southern end of Kingston Road and the northern end of Walton Street, at the junction with Walton Well Road, to the west with Woodstock Road, opposite Bevington Road, to the east.To the north is Plantation Road and to the south is Observatory Street. Leckford Place leads north halfway along. The road is one-way from west to east, with traffic calming constrictions. The houses are mainly terraced with some semi-detached.At the eastern end on the south side is a Grade II listed block of flats, Belsyre Court, built in 1936.

The Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS) is in the former SS Philip and James Parish Church on Woodstock Road, Oxford, England, opposite Leckford Road. It was established in 1983 by Rev. Vinay Samuel.The centre exists to provide education for church leaders from the non-Western world. It was founded by mission theologians from Africa, Asia and Latin America. OCMS offers taught Masters courses and PhD/MPhil research degrees. Its degrees are validated by Middlesex University. It is associated with the University of Oxford through the Bodleian Libraries. Many Oxford faculty members also provide supervision for PhD/MPhil research degrees. OCMS is a charity.
