Hackesche Höfe

Hackescher Markt ("Hacke's Market") is a square in the central Mitte locality of Berlin, Germany, situated at the eastern end of Oranienburger Strasse. It is an important transport hub and a starting point for the city's nightlife.

Berlin Hackescher Markt is a railway station in the Mitte district of Berlin, Germany. It is named after the adjacent Hackescher Markt square.

The Sophienkirche is a Protestant church in the Spandauer Vorstadt part of the Berlin-Mitte region of Berlin, eastern Germany. One of its associated cemeteries is the Friedhof II der Sophiengemeinde Berlin.

The Grosse Hamburger Strasse, also Große Hamburger Straße, located in the Mitte district of Berlin, has been an important site for Jewish Berliners. There was a school for boys, an old age home, and a cemetery operated by the Jewish community before World War II. The area, used as a deportation site during the National Socialist Nazi regime of World War II, was destroyed during the war. Since then, the cemetery was restored and there is a school for boys again. A green area is a memorial to the Holocaust, with sculptures, a memorial stone, and plaques. It has been given monumental protection.

Weinmeisterstraße is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the . It was built in 1930 by Alexander Grenander and shortly closed during World War II. During the Berlin Wall (from 1961) the station was closed by the East German government, later on top of the entrances apartments were built. When it was reopened on 1 July 1990, there were some difficulties to open them again, but so far minor cleanup is needed.

The Association of German Banks (German: Bundesverband deutscher Banken) is the association of private banks in Germany and the main lobby group for Germany's financial sector. In the traditional pillar system of the German banking industry this represents all banks that have evolved from merchant banks unlike the co-operative branch (like credit unions) or regional state banks (German public banks). The association is a member of the Central Credit Committee governing the banking industry in Germany and a member of the European Banking Federation. The President of the association is Hans-Walter Peters.

Berlin Dungeon is a tourist attraction from a chain including the London Dungeon and Hamburg Dungeon. It provides a journey through Berlin's dark history in an actor led, interactive experience. There are both German and English shows and the actors speak German and English.

The Rosenstrasse protest on Rosenstraße ("Rose street") took place in Berlin during February and March 1943. This demonstration was initiated and sustained by the non-Jewish wives and relatives of Jewish men and mischling, those of mixed Jewish and Aryan heritage, who had been arrested and targeted for deportation, based on the racial policy of Nazi Germany. The protests, which occurred over the course of seven days, continued until the men being held were released by the Gestapo. The Rosenstrasse protest is considered to be a significant event in German history as it is the only mass public demonstration by Germans in the Third Reich against the deportation of Jews. In describing the protests, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer states, "There were demonstrations, public protests against random arrests, - first dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of women, who demanded in unison "Give us back our men!" The protest by the women of the Rosenstrasse made the Nazi regime retreat as German propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels order for a release of the men, including approximately 1,800 Berlin Jews. The Gestapo in their "Final Solution" had herded together these men into the Jewish community house on Rosenstrasse near Alexanderplatz, who were then subsequently freed by order of Goebbels."

Spandauer Vorstadt ("Spandauer suburb", formerly also called Spandauer Quarter or Spandauer Viertel) is a historic district in what is now the Mitte district of Berlin.

The Old Synagogue (German: Alte Synagoge) was a synagogue in the Berlin district of Marienviertel (present-day Mitte). Consecrated in 1714, it was known as the Great Synagogue until the opening of the New Synagogue, built in the 1860s to accommodate Berlin's expanding Jewish population. Nevertheless, services continued to be held in the Old Synagogue into the 20th century; it was restored in 1928. The synagogue survived Kristallnacht but was destroyed during World War II. It is marked with a plaque and part of the building's contours are marked with cobblestones.

Friedrichs Bridge (German: Friedrichsbrücke) is a bridge in Berlin, one of several crossing the Spree between Museum Island and the mainland portion of Mitte. It connects Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße with Bodestraße. Since its creation in 1703, the bridge has been repeatedly renovated. It is considered a protected monument.
