João Alberto, a forty-year-old black man, worked as a service provider. He was buried on November 21 in Porto Alegre.Six people were indicted by the Public Ministry for homicide, including two security guards (one of them a temporary military police officer) and four Carrefour employees.

With the establishment of the Iguatemi shopping, the area increased its value, and now most of its buildings are upper and upper middle class houses. Moreover, there are many squares in this neighbourhood, and its streets are relatively quiet, aside from Nilo Peçanha Avenue.
