Grossmont Middle College High School (GMCHS) is a high school in San Diego County, California. Founded in 2001, GMCHS is located on the Grossmont College campus and is run entirely by two teachers, a secretary and a counselor. GMCHS is a WASC-accredited alternative high school, providing a bridge to college education and career training. Juniors and seniors who are capable of succeeding at the college level and who are not challenged by traditional high school work have the opportunity to complete requirements for high school graduation while earning college credits and obtaining job experience. GMCHS used to require internships, but from successful negotiations from the counselor to the district, this requirement is no longer necessary. Open by application to students living throughout San Diego County, GMCHS best suits bright and mature students interested in a serious learning environment who are out of place in the traditional, comprehensive high school. Grossmont College is a public community college in El Cajon, California. Its name originated with the silent film actor and producer William J. Gross, who was enticed by Ed Fletcher to invest in the purchase of land, part of which was called Grossmont. The campus sits in the Fletcher Hills community of El Cajon and is bordered by the cities of San Diego and Santee. Grossmont College along with Cuyamaca College make up what is the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. Grossmont is part of the California Community College System. Grossmont College is also home to Grossmont Middle College High School, where selected high school students can receive both high school and college credit for taking courses on campus. The newspaper for Grossmont College is The Summit. Its radio station is Griffin Radio.

The area was developed in 1927–1928 by San Diego developer Ed Fletcher.

San Carlos is a neighborhood in the eastern area of San Diego, California. It borders the neighborhoods of Del Cerro, Tierrasanta, Allied Gardens, the city of La Mesa, and Mission Trails Regional Park. The neighborhood extends to Cowles Mountain at the north.San Carlos is geographically defined largely by its proximity to Mission Trails Regional Park and to the man-made reservoir Lake Murray. The area consists primarily of single-family homes.

Grossmont High School is a public high school located in Eastern San Diego County, California. Opened in 1920, it is the oldest public high school in East County and the first of twelve high schools currently in the Grossmont Union High School District. The school has an approximate enrollment of 2,800 students.Grossmont High School has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) since 1962. The current accreditation is valid through 2020. Grossmont High School was recognized as being a California Distinguished School for the scholastic year of 2008–2009. Its mascot is the Foothiller, so chosen because at the time of the school's construction, east county was much more isolated from the rest of San Diego than it is today and was often referred to as the boondocks or the foothills.

La Mesa Boulevard is a station on the Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the San Diego suburb of La Mesa, California. It serves the dense nearby commercial area, as well as a variety of apartment buildings that surround the stop. Adjacent to the station is the historic La Mesa Depot Museum owned by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. The museum is a restored station from 1894, and has original equipment from that era including a Steam locomotive and Caboose. The station building was built in 1894, when the San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway had built it, and moved across the tracks to its current site in 1915. Passenger service stopped in 1928, and did not restart until 1989 as part of the San Diego Trolley.
