La Mesa Boulevard is a station on the Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the San Diego suburb of La Mesa, California. It serves the dense nearby commercial area, as well as a variety of apartment buildings that surround the stop. Adjacent to the station is the historic La Mesa Depot Museum owned by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. The museum is a restored station from 1894, and has original equipment from that era including a Steam locomotive and Caboose. The station building was built in 1894, when the San Diego and Cuyamaca Railway had built it, and moved across the tracks to its current site in 1915. Passenger service stopped in 1928, and did not restart until 1989 as part of the San Diego Trolley.

One of the newer stations in the San Diego Trolley network having opened in 2005, the facility is locally noted for its artwork using California native plants and recycled materials. Parts of the platform are paved with chips of colored used glass, the benches are made of cobblestones excavated from the site during the station's construction, and bench seats are made of recycled plastics. Landscaping includes edible wild strawberries, lemonade berry bushes, and native California wild roses.The station provided direct service to Qualcomm Stadium during Chargers home games.

Helix High School, in La Mesa, California, is a charter high school built in 1952. It received its charter in 1998. Part of the Grossmont Union High School District, it serves a mid-level socioeconomic community and has a student body of approximately 2,400 pupils. Helix serves parts of La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and Spring Valley; however, as a charter school, all high school students in the state of California are eligible to attend. Helix High School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a California Distinguished School in 2001 and 2009.

Eucalyptus County Park is a 6.45-acre (2.61 ha) urban park located at 9125 Edgewood Drive in Spring Valley, California, United States.Named for the many eucalyptus trees on the property, the park frequently hosts birthday parties, horseshoes tournaments, BBQ grills, neighborhood children, dogs on leash, birdwatchers, a pair of hawks, and, often, artists painting the park itself. Eucalyptus County Park is managed and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of the County of San Diego. The park's site is one of the oldest in the eastern San Diego County dedicated to public recreational use.

Lake Murray is a reservoir in San Diego, California, operated by the City of San Diego's Public Utilities Department. Although thinly divided by a few housing communities and select roadways, it is technically considered to be part of the jurisdiction which makes up Mission Trails Regional Park. When full, the reservoir covers 171.1 acres (69.2 ha), has a maximum water depth of 95 feet (29 m), and a shoreline of 3.2 miles (5.1 km). The asphalt-paved service road lining roughly two-thirds of the lake's perimeter is a popular recreation site for the Navajo community as well as residents of the northernmost neighborhoods in La Mesa. It lies south of Cowles Mountain and a small golf course. It also functions as an important aeronautical reporting point for aircraft inbound to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport (identifier: KMYF).

D.Z. Akin's Delicatessen is a New York-style Jewish deli and restaurant located in San Diego, California. The restaurant was open in 1980 by Zvika and Debbie Akin.

The Cleveland Elementary School shooting was a school shooting that took place on January 29, 1979, at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, United States. The principal and a custodian were killed; eight children and police officer Robert Robb were injured. A 16-year-old girl, Brenda Spencer, who lived in a house across the street from the school, was convicted of the shootings. Charged as an adult, she pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, resulting in her being sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after 25 years. As of 2024, she is still in prison. A reporter reached Spencer by phone while she was still in the house after the shooting, and asked her why she committed the crime. She reportedly answered: "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day," which inspired Bob Geldof and Johnnie Fingers to write the Boomtown Rats song "I Don't Like Mondays."

Lemon Grove Depot is a station on the Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley. It is located in the San Diego suburb of Lemon Grove, California and serves the densely populated surrounding commercial and residential area. The station has also been home to a farmers market on Saturdays since January 2015.
