Hípica (meaning Equestrian in English) is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 6893 from September 12, 1991.Hípica was named after the Sociedade Hípica Porto Alegrense (Porto Alegre Equestrian Society), which is installed here since 1939.

Guaíba (Portuguese pronunciation: [ɡwaˈibɐ]) is a major water body in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil. It is commonly referred to either as a "river" (Portuguese: Rio Guaíba) or as a "lake" (Lago Guaíba). The Jacuí River, the Sinos River, the Gravataí River and the Caí River empty into Guaíba from the north, which in its turn empties into the Lagoa dos Patos, the largest lagoon in South America further down south. The body of water covers 496 square kilometres (192 sq mi) in total. Both Porto Alegre, the capital and most populous city of Rio Grande do Sul, and Viamão lie on its eastern shore. The cities of Guaíba, Eldorado do Sul and Barra do Ribeiro lie opposite to Porto Alegre, on the western shore. Guaíba is navigable, and is connected to the Atlantic Ocean through Lagoa dos Patos and its outlet channel, located further south, near the city of Rio Grande.

Belém Velho (meaning Old Bethlehem in Portuguese) is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 4876 from December 24, 1980.

Jardim Isabel is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 10724 from July 9, 2009, being the newest official neighbourhood in town.It embraces people from upper middle class to upper class. Also, a highly regarded private school of the city, the João Paulo I school, is located in Jardim Isabel.

Lomba do Pinheiro (meaning Pine Tree Hill in English) is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 7954 from January 8, 1997. Lomba do Pinheiro is not part of the rural zone in Porto Alegre.

Cavalhada is a neighbourhood (bairro) in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959. The neighbourhood name is quite old, dating from the 18th century, when the government expropriated André Bernardes Rangel's properties in order to have a field for the horse herd (cavalhada) belonging to the Royal Treasury. However, it was transferred to Viamão later, and Rangel became the landowner again. In the 1950s, the Estrada da Cavalhada, nowadays the Carlos Barbosa, Teresópolis, Nonoai e Cavalhada avenues altogether, was finally asphalted.

Tristeza (meaning Sadness in Portuguese) is a neighbourhood in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959. The neighbourhood was named after José da Silva Guimarães's nickname, Tristeza, who was its first dweller.Tristeza embraces people from upper middle class to upper class, mainly in the three long blocks near the Guaíba Lake and in the Sétimo Céu area, that, although it's officially part of Tristeza, it looks more like Vila Conceição, because both were founded as the same batch of houses, the Vila Conceição batch. Also, there is located a private school for children, Escola Creare.

MultiRS (channel 48) is a Brazilian university television station based in Canoas, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which operates on virtual channel 48.1, granted to the capital Porto Alegre, relaying TV Cultura. Maintained by the Lutheran University of Brazil (Ulbra), it was opened in 2004 under the name Ulbra TV, broadcasting programming aimed at young audiences in partnership with STV, having quickly adopted a more generalist and educational schedule. Its studios are in the Ulbratech technology park building, on the university campus in Canoas, and its transmitting antenna is at the top of Morro da Police, in Porto Alegre.

Owned-and-operated by Grupo Record, its studios are in the Record Building, located in the Southern Radio and Television Sector (SRTVS), in the South Wing of Plano Piloto, and its transmitters are in the Digital TV Tower of Brasília, in the administrative region of Lago Norte.

Record RS (channel 2) is a Brazilian television station based in Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul carrying the Record network for most of the state. It is owned by Grupo Record, alongside Rádio Guaíba and the newspaper Correio do Povo with its studios being located in Santa Tereza, and its transmitter is at the top of Morro da Polícia.

Band RS is a Brazilian television station based in Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It operates on channel 10 (32 digital UHF) and is an owned-and-operated station of Band. Its studios are located at Tecnopuc, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, in the Partenon neighborhood, where the entire holding of Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação in Rio Grande do Sul is headquartered, and its transmitting antenna is in Morro da Polícia.

TV Educativa (also known as TVE-RS) is a Brazilian television station based in Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It operates on channel 7 (UHF digital 30) and is affiliated to TV Brasil. The station, along with FM Cultura, is owned by the Radio Broadcasting and Audiovisual Directorate of the Secretariat of Communication and Digital Inclusion of the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Its studios are located in the neighborhood of Santa Tereza, in the former headquarters of TV Piratini, and its transmission antenna is at the top of Morro da Police.
