Ranheim Church

Ranheim is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Østbyen. The neighbourhood approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) to the east of the centre of Trondheim. It comprises Olderdalen, Væretrøa, Reppe, and Vikåsen. Historically, Ranheim is a working class community due to paper production at the local paper mill, where an overwhelming majority of Ranheim residents worked. Today, however, it is mostly middle class in composition and most residents work elsewhere. Ranheim Church was built 1933. Ranheim is home to Ranheim Idrettslag sportsclub and Ranheim Fotball. Ranheim was once known for its foul odour, commonly referred to as "Ranheimslukta," (the smell of Ranheim) which was caused by a paper processing byproduct, hydrogen sulfide. In recent years, the paper mill has become a paper recycling plant which has decreased the emission of sulfides. The characteristic smell has consequently disappeared.

Ranheim Papirfabrikk AS was a Norwegian industrial company, which ran a paper factory with the same name at Ranheim, Trondheim, Norway. The construction of it started in 1882, and it was opened as Ranheims Cellulosefabrik in 1884 by businessperson and politician Lauritz Jenssen, a son of Lauritz Dorenfeldt Jenssen who had bought the farm Ranheim and started developing industry there. The factory utilized water from the nearby river Vikelva. The factory also utilized an industrial railroad track, running off of the Nordland Line from Ranheim Station. In 1891 it was changed from a cellulose factory to a paper factory, and the name changed accordingly. The founder's son Lauritz Jenssen Dorenfeldt, who worked there from 1884 to 1894, was important in this development. In 1894 the Jenssen family did not manage to run the factory any more, and the shares were taken over by Christian Christophersen.The factory survived and was dominating in its field north of Dovrefjell, until the 1960s when it got a sizeable competitor in Nordenfjelske Treforedling. Ranheim Papirfabrikk became a part of Norske Skogindustrier in 1971. In 1983 the company was sold to the conglomerate M. Peterson & Søn, founded in 1801 in Moss. Following a later reorganization the production unit at Ranheim has been split in two; Peterson Linerboard AS, Ranheim and Peterson Emballasje AS, Ranheim, parts the two main branches Peterson Linerboard and Peterson Packaging respectively. However the factory still exists.

Extra Arena (previous called Ranheim Stadion) is the home ground of the Norwegian football club Ranheim Fotball. It is located in the city-area of Ranheim in the city of Trondheim. The stadion had to be enlarged to comply with Eliteserien guideline of a minimum of 3000 seats.

Trondheim Airport, Jonsvatnet (Norwegian: Trondheim sjøflyplass, Jonsvatnet) was a water aerodrome located at Valset on the lake of Jonsvatnet in Trondheim, Norway. The airport was built as the first permanent airport serving Trondheim and initially was used for Norwegian Air Lines' (DNL) routes which commenced in 1935. Ahead of the 1936 season the airport was equipped with permanent installations, including wharfs and a small terminal building. In 1937 the airport was used by Widerøe, before DNL returned the following year. During World War II the airport was taken over by the Luftwaffe, which used the ice on the lake as an airfield. Two aircraft which sank when the ice thawed were raised in 2004. Jonsvatnet was expanded and became a reserve airport for Trondheim Airport, Hommelvik, and Trondheim Airport, Ilsvika. After the war ended the airport was largely left unmaintained, but was variously used by DNL and later Vestlandske Luftfartsselskap as a reserve airport until 1957. The aviation club Trondheim Flyklubb reopened the airport in 1967 and remained there until 2013, when the airport was closed, since the airport's existence was incompatible with Jonsvatnet serving as the main source of drinking water for Trondheim.

Charlottenlund Upper Secondary School (Norwegian: Charlottenlund videregående skole) is the largest upper secondary school in the Jakobsli area of Trondheim, county of Trondelag in Norway. It is located about 4 km east of Trondheim city centre. The school has approximately 1,300 students, 250 employees and the current headmaster is Marit Flak Stovner. The school was originally formed in 1970 as Brundalen Upper Secondary School, but the history of the school can be traced back as far as 1883. In 2002, Brunsdalen Upper Secondary School was merged with Charlottenlund Upper Secondary School, which initially retained the name Brunsdalen Upper Secondary School. The school subsequently changed its name to Charlottenlund Upper Secondary School in 2010. In 2012, the school moved into a new building near the old school (built 2011). The old school was demolished soon after.

Rotvoll is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Charlottenlund. It is located next to the Trondheim fjord between Leangen to the west and Grillstad to the east. The area is known for its rich bird life and has several times been proposed for protection. When a Statoil research and development facility was built there in the 1991, it resulted in civil disobedience at the climax of the Rotvoll controversy. The area has some suburban housing and is otherwise dominated by the Statoil research facility and Sør-Trøndelag University College campus for teacher training and Norwegian Sign Language interpreters. Rotvoll is served by city buses and by Rotvoll Station on Trønderbanen, the commuter train in Trøndelag. There are also several conjoint Anthroposophical projects: Camphill Rotvoll (Camphill Rotvoll - Kristoffertunet) is an intentional community, consisting of 3 family houses; a mixed community with 25 people, some of whom with special needs. Camphill Rotvoll run several workshops: Rotvoll Safteri - a juice and jam facility, Rotvoll landhandel - a general store with mostly bio- dynamic foodstuffs and Rotvoll farm as well as a bakery, weavery and a small market-garden.Rotvoll Waldorf School (Steinerskolen på Rotvoll) is a school is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy.

Rotvoll is a railway station on the Nordland Line at Rotvoll in Trondheim, Norway. It is served by the Trøndelag Commuter Rail operated by SJ Norge with hourly service to Trondheim and Steinkjer. The station is located beside the Equinor offices at Rotvoll. Bus connections are also available with AtB.

Hundhammeren is a village in the municipality of Malvik in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along an arm of the Trondheimsfjord, about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) west of the village of Vikhammer and about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of the village of Ranheim (in Trondheim). The villages of Hundhammeren, Vikhammer, Saksvik (all in Malvik), and Væretrøa (in Trondheim) together form an urban area called Malvik. The 2.61-square-kilometre (640-acre) urban area has a population (2018) of 6,965 and a population density of 2,669 inhabitants per square kilometre (6,910/sq mi). This area is the most populous urban area in the municipality.

Jonsvatnet shooting range, Norwegian Jonsvatnet skytebane, can refer to a set of shooting ranges that together makes up for the largest civilian shooting range complex around the city of Trondheim in Norway. The ranges of Nidaros Skytterlag, Trondheim Jeger- og Fiskerforening, and Trondhjems Pistolklubb are situated close to each other at the north end of Digresmyra wetlands, while the range of Nidaros Jaktskytterklubb is on the south end of Digresmyra.

Leangen Gård is a manor house dating from the 17th century. It is located in the community of Lade, near Leangen Bay (Leangenbukta) in Trondheim, Norway.

Leangen Travbane is a harness racing course located at Leangen in Trondheim, Norway. The race course is owned by the Norwegian Trotting Association and its parimutuel betting is handled by Norsk Rikstoto. Through this arrangement it is the only equine tote betting establishment in Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal.

Dragvoll is a neighborhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The neighborhood is located in the borough of Lerkendal. The area hosts the campus for the faculties of social sciences and humanities of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Until the 1996 creation of NTNU, it was the social sciences and humanities campus of the Norwegian College of General Sciences.
