Arkesden

Wicken Bonhunt is a village and a civil parish of north-west Essex, in the non-metropolitan district of Uttlesford, England. It is on the B1038 (Buntingford) road and is midway between the larger villages of Newport and Clavering. The nearest town is Saffron Walden, approximately 5 miles (8 km) away. Stansted Airport is approximately 10 miles (16 km) away. The civil parish has a population of approximately 839.

Saffron Walden, at 5 miles (8 km), and the larger village of Newport, at 2 miles (3 km), lie to the north-east. In 1931 the parish had a population of 378.Rickling is 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west from the village of Quendon. Rickling is the site of the parish church, All Saints, and a few houses. Rickling Green, 2 miles (3 km) from Rickling, is conjoined to Quendon.

Littlebury Green is a village in the civil parish of Littlebury and the district of Uttlesford in Essex, England. Littlebury Green is one of three settlements, the others Catmere End and Chapel Green, at the west and south-west of Littlebury parish, and subordinate to the parish village of Littlebury near the north-east border with the parish of Saffron Walden. The village is on Littlebury Green Road, 3 miles (5 km) west from the town of Saffron Walden, 12 miles (19 km) south from the city of Cambridge, and 23 miles (37 km) north-east from the county town and city of Chelmsford. The M11 motorway runs north to south 1 mile (1.6 km) east from the village.

Duddenhoe End is a small village in the civil parish of Elmdon & Wenden Lofts, in northwest Essex, England, and situated approximately halfway between Royston and Saffron Walden. The village is nearest to Langley, Essex and Arkesden to its south.

Chapel of St Helen (also St Helen's Chapel) is an ancient religious building in Wicken Bonhunt, north-west Essex. It dates from around the 11th century and is believed to be one of the oldest surviving buildings in the east of England. It has also been described as 10th century.Pevsner's Essex architecture guide of 1954 describes it as: "A complete Norman chapel of nave and chancel with a number of original windows".The chapel is at Bonhunt Farm, on the B1038 (Newport to Buntingford) road and close to a motorway flyover for the M11.

Saffron Walden Rural District was a rural district in the county of Essex, England. It was created in 1894 and later enlarged by the addition of the parishes of Berden, Birchanger, Elsenham, Farnham, Henham-on-the-Hill, Manuden, Stansted Mountfitchet and Ugley from the disbanded Stansted Rural District. It was named after and administered from Saffron Walden. Since 1 April 1974 it has formed part of the District of Uttlesford. At the time of its dissolution it consisted of the following 31 civil parishes. Berden is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. Berden village is approximately 6 miles (10 km) north from Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire and 21 miles (34 km) north-west from the county town of Chelmsford. Berden parish, with its own parish council, is in the district of Uttlesford and in the parliamentary constituency of Saffron Walden. According to the 2001 census Berden had a population of 427, increasing to 465 at the census 2011.Berden was part of Clavering hundred and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a location with four villagers and five smallholders.

Berden Priory was a priory in Essex, England. This site now has a Grade II* listed late 16th-century timber-framed house, the centre of Berden Priory Farm.

St Nicholas' Church is a Grade I listed parish church in the village of Berden, Essex, England. Of the Early English Gothic style, the church has a Norman nave with 13th-century transepts and a tower dated to the 15th century. It underwent major restoration in 1868. The church held a 20th-century 38-year revival of a "Boy Bishop" miracle play. It contains memorials to significant families of the local Berden Hall and Berden Priory, and to a murdered Berden parish constable. St Nicholas' is part of a joint benefice—sharing a common priest— in the Deanery of Saffron Walden of the Diocese of Chelmsford. Other churches in the group are St Mary the Virgin at Manuden; St Simon and St Jude at Quendon; and All Saints at Rickling.

Strethall is a village and a civil parish in the Uttlesford District, in the English county of Essex, near the town of Saffron Walden. Having suffered no casualties in World War I it is known as one of the thankful villages. The Icknield Way Path passes through the village on its 110-mile route between Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire and Knettishall Heath in Suffolk. The A route for walkers, horse riders and off-road cyclists also passes through the village.
