1956 LPGA Championship

The 1958 U.S. Women's Open was the 13th U.S. Women's Open, held June 26–28 at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, a suburb northwest of Detroit. It was the sixth edition conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Mickey Wright, age 23, won the first of her four U.S. Women's Open titles, five strokes ahead of runner-up Louise Suggs, a two-time champion. It was the second of 13 major championships for Wright, who led wire-to-wire and entered the final round with a seven stroke lead. This was the second major held at Forest Lake, which hosted the LPGA Championship two years earlier in 1956.

The area codes also serve portions of Livonia and Northville, both located in Wayne County. The rest of Wayne County, including Detroit, located to the southeast, is serviced by area codes 313 and 734. Area code 248 was created in 1997 as a split from area code 810. In 2000, area code 947 was assigned as a relief area code for the area. In 2001, it was approved as an all-services overlay plan in the 248 numbering plan area, requiring ten-digit dialing after end of the permissive dialing period, which started on January 26, 2002. Andover High School was a public high school in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, near Bloomfield Hills and in Greater Detroit. It was a part of the Bloomfield Hills School District. The school's final principal was Rob Durecka. The school teams were known as the Andover Barons.In 2010, the decision was made to merge Andover and Lahser High schools and build a single high school on the current Andover property.In 2013 it was merged into Bloomfield Hills High School, which is located on the former Andover campus. The new combined high school opened in the fall of 2015.

Bloomfield Hills High School (BHHS) is a public high school in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, United States. It is the sole comprehensive high school of the Bloomfield Hills School District and was established in 2013, when the district merged Andover and Lahser High Schools.

WBFH, also known as The Biff, is a community radio station that has operated out of Bloomfield Hills High School (formerly Andover High School and since 2013, also merged with Lahser High School) in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan since October 1, 1976. WBFH now has new studios in a highly visible area off the Commons and Main Street. The new studios have one on air room (Studio A), three production studios (Studios B, C and D), a work room and a storage room. WBFH broadcasts with 360 watts of power at 88.1 MHz on the FM dial. The signal is directional and can be heard throughout mid-Oakland County. For a period until October 16, 2016, the station was simulcast on 89.5 FM, WAHS, owned by the Avondale School District. The two stations have since resumed separate programming. WBFH is licensed to the Bloomfield Hills School District and is open to all high school students. Students who want to be on the radio station must first take the prerequisite class entitled Exploring Electronic Media which is a one-semester class. After that, they can apply to be on the WBFH Staff. Due to time and space limitations, not all applicants are selected to be on the Staff. WBFH was run by General Manager/Electronic Media Teacher Pete Bowers who supervised the station and taught the electronic media/radio classes since its inception in 1976. Bowers retired in June, 2017. He was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame August 13, 2018. The other management team member is Manager/Technical Director/Program Director Ron Wittebols who took over that position in January, 2013 but has a long relationship with the station. WBFH is on the air with live shows from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. school calendar days and 24/7/365 via the DADPro 32 automation system. The students use Adobe Audition for audio editing. Listeners can listen to WBFH online on the station's website www.wbfh.fm, on the Biff Radio app, the High School Radio app and the TuneIn app. WBFH is one of only a few high school radio stations with their own app. WBFH has been named the High School Station of the Year in the State of Michigan by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation ten times: 2003, 2004*, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011*, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Crystal Lake is a private 83-acre (34 ha) lake along the main branch of the Clinton River in Pontiac in Oakland County, Michigan. Upstream from Crystal Lake lies 532-acre (215 ha) Sylvan Lake. Downstream, the Clinton River goes underground in Pontiac near Orchard Lake Road and Bagley Avenue. The river reappears, after being piped under Pontiac for 3,000 feet (910 m), near Union Street and E. Huron Street (M-59), where it winds its way eastward to Auburn Hills and beyond.Ironically, Crystal Lake was originally named Mud Lake.

Pontiac West Assembly (also known as GMC Truck & Coach, GM Truck Validation Center and Pontiac Centerpoint Campus Validation Center) was a General Motors manufacturing facility located in Pontiac, Michigan. The manufacturing complex occupied an irregular 82-acre site bounded on the North side by Rapid Street, on the South side by South Boulevard W, on the East side by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad/Woodward Avenue (U.S. Route 24), and on the West side by Franklin Road. The complex included GMC Truck & Coach Plant 1, 3, 4 and 5, as well as numerous administrative and support buildings. The last GM operations at the facility were closed, and the site completely demolished, in 2008.

The Gillespie Street-Clinton River Bridge is a bridge carrying Gillespie Street over the Clinton River in Pontiac, Michigan. It is a relatively early example of a rigid-frame bridge in Michigan. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Rapid Motor Vehicle Company was founded in 1902 in Pontiac, Michigan, by brothers Max (1874-1946) and Morris Grabowsky, whose earlier venture, Grabowsky Motor Company, had been founded in Detroit in 1900. They went on to build one-ton trucks and were the beginning of GMC Truck division after they were acquired by General Motors in 1909.

Lahser High School was a high school in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, near Bloomfield Hills and in Greater Detroit. It was a part of Bloomfield Hills Schools. The school was opened in 1967. At the time it had 200 students, and enrollment later reached almost 900 students. In 2010, the decision was made to merge the school with sister school Andover High School, on Andover's grounds. In 2020, it was decided that the Lahser campus would become the site of Bloomfield Hills Middle School North following a successful bond proposal. The football program had five consecutive playoff-eligible seasons, 2002–2006, in both class 3 and class 2 MHSAA competition.Lahser won several MHSAA state championships including: men's soccer (1999), men's/women's tennis (men's, 2002), women's lacrosse, and women's golf. Lahser competed within the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division for football. Most of Lahser's students came from Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township. Lahser's crosstown rival was Andover High School, which is the current site of the merged Bloomfield Hills High School

Sylvan Lake is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northern suburb of Detroit, Sylvan Lake is located roughly 26 miles (41.8 km) from downtown Detroit, and borders Pontiac to the east. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 1,720. With a land area of 0.51 square miles (1.32 km2), Sylvan Lake is the fourth-smallest city by land area in the state after Clarkston, Petersburg, and neighboring Keego Harbor.
