Sylvan Lake is an all-sports, 458-acre (185 ha) Oakland County, Michigan lake along the main branch of the Clinton River. To the north is 74-acre Otter Lake, which joins the 458-acre (185 ha) Sylvan Lake, for a total of 532 acres (215 ha) of lake, making it the seventh largest lake in Oakland County. The lake lies in the city of Sylvan Lake, Michigan, in Keego Harbor, Michigan and in Waterford Township, Michigan and is west of Pontiac, Michigan. It is located north of Orchard Lake Road, south of Voorhies Road, east of Cass Lake Road and west of Telegraph Road. Sylvan Lake connects to 12-acre (4.9 ha) Crystal Lake downstream and to 1,280-acre (520 ha) Cass Lake upstream, although there is a dam between the two lakes at Cass Lake Road.

Keego Harbor is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A northern suburb of Detroit, Keego Harbor is located roughly 27 miles (43.5 km) from downtown Detroit, and about 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of Pontiac. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 2,970. With a land area of 0.50 square miles (1.29 km2), Keego Harbor is the third-smallest city by land area in the state of Michigan, after Petersburg and Clarkston.

Otter Lake is an all-sports, 74-acre (30 ha) Oakland County, Michigan lake along the main branch of the Clinton River.To the north, Otter Lake connects to 19-acre (7.7 ha) Geneva Lake. To the south is 458-acre Sylvan Lake, which joins the 74-acre (30 ha) Otter Lake, for a total of 532 acres (215 ha) of lake, making it the seventh largest lake in Oakland County.The lake lies in Waterford Township, Michigan and is west of Pontiac, Michigan. It is located south of Voorhies Road, east of Cass Lake Road and west of Telegraph Road. Otter Lake is named for the North American river otter, which are indigenous to the area.

Crystal Lake is a private 83-acre (34 ha) lake along the main branch of the Clinton River in Pontiac in Oakland County, Michigan. Upstream from Crystal Lake lies 532-acre (215 ha) Sylvan Lake. Downstream, the Clinton River goes underground in Pontiac near Orchard Lake Road and Bagley Avenue. The river reappears, after being piped under Pontiac for 3,000 feet (910 m), near Union Street and E. Huron Street (M-59), where it winds its way eastward to Auburn Hills and beyond.Ironically, Crystal Lake was originally named Mud Lake.

The Casa del Rey Apartments is an apartment building located at 111 Oneida Road in Pontiac, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Elmer R. Webster School is a former school building located at 640 West Huron Street in Pontiac, Michigan. The school building is being redeveloped into the Webster Community Center. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.

Michigan's 18th congressional district is an obsolete United States congressional district in Michigan. The first Representative to Congress elected from the 18th district, George Anthony Dondero, took office in 1953, after reapportionment due to the 1950 census. In 1933, Dondero had previously been the first representative elected from 17th district. From 1982 until its demise the 18th district included parts of three counties. It included Brighton, Brighton Township and Green Oak Township in Livingston County, Michigan, Lyon Township, South Lyon, New Hudson, Milford, Milford Township, Wixom, Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake, Commerce Township, Novi, the Oakland county portion of Northville, Farmington, Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield Township, Orchard Lake, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake, Bloomfield Township, Franklin, Bingham Farms, Beverly Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Troy (except the southeast corner of Troy, south of Big Beaver and east of Rochester Road), Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, Rochester, Orion Township, Lake Orion, Lake Angelus, Oakland Township and Addison Township in Oakland County. It also included Romeo, Washington Township, Shelby Township and Bruce Township in Macomb County.

Area codes 248 and 947 are area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The area codes also serve portions of Livonia and Northville, both located in Wayne County. The rest of Wayne County, including Detroit, located to the southeast, is serviced by area codes 313 and 734. Area code 248 was created in 1997 as a split from area code 810. In 2000, area code 947 was assigned as a relief area code for the area. In 2001, it was approved as an all-services overlay plan in the 248 numbering plan area, requiring ten-digit dialing after end of the permissive dialing period, which started on January 26, 2002. Summit Place Mall, originally Pontiac Mall, was a shopping mall in Waterford Township, Michigan, United States. Opened in 1962 as the first enclosed mall in Michigan, it was built on a 74-acre (30 ha) site. After expansions in 1987 and 1993, it comprised more than 1,400,000 square feet (130,000 m2) of retail space. At its peak, it had approximately 200 inline tenants and six anchor stores: Hudson's (later Marshall Field's, then Macy's), Sears, J. C. Penney, Montgomery Ward, Service Merchandise, and Kohl's. Following the opening of Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in nearby Auburn Hills, Michigan in 1998, Summit Place Mall lost many of its tenants to this newer mall, also losing Service Merchandise and Montgomery Ward to their respective bankruptcies in 1999 and 2000. In the 2000s, Summit Place became a dead mall as the majority of its stores closed. Kohl's closed in March 2009 and the mall concourses were closed off in September 2009. J.C. Penney and Macy's remained until early 2010, and Sears until 2014.

The Polish Home Army Museum in Orchard Lake, Michigan is dedicated to the memory of the brave men and women of the Armia Krajowa during World War II. The museum tells the story of the struggle for the freedom and independence of Poland during World War II. On September 1, 1939, without declaring war, the Nazi German Army, Navy, and Air Forces invaded Poland from the north, west and south. Sixteen days later, on September 17, the Soviet Union also attacked Poland from the east. For Europe, the Nazi invasion of Poland marked the beginning of World War II; for Poland, the Soviet invasion also marked the beginning of a 50-year struggle against communism.

The Michigan Military Academy, also known as M.M.A., was an all-boys military prep school in Orchard Lake Village, Oakland County, Michigan. It was founded in 1877 by J. Sumner Rogers and closed in 1908 due to bankruptcy. Some journalists have referred to the school as the Second West Point. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as the Orchard Lake Schools Historic District.
