Bretton Hall, Flintshire

Sir John Glynne's Canal was a canal in England built by Sir John Glynne. It ran from Saltney, just outside Chester to Bretton, a distance of about one mile. It was built about 1768, and was in use until 1779. It was used for the transportation of coal from mines in Flintshire into Chester.

St Mark's Church is an Anglican church in the parish of Lache cum Saltney, the deanery of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the diocese of Chester.St Matthew's was designed by the Chester architect John Douglas and built in brick with lancet windows. It was intended to have a longer nave and a tower at the northwest, but these were never completed. Its plan consisted of a broad nave and a chancel with a south aisle. In the series The Buildings of Wales, Edward Hubbard expressed the opinion that the church was "not impressive externally" although "the interior is more rewarding".After the church became redundant, it was closed on 4 June 2000. The building was destroyed by fire in December 2008.

Balderton Cheese Factory is a building in the village of Balderton, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Balderton railway station was a minor railway station serving the village of Balderton in Cheshire, England. It was located on the Great Western Railway (GWR) main line from London Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside. The 53-yard (48 m) Balderton Tunnel is just south of the station site, and there is an automatic half-barrier (AHB) level crossing adjacent to the site today. The 15 in (381 mm) gauge Eaton Hall Railway, opened in 1896 to serve the estate of the Duke of Westminster, met the GWR line at Balderton.

It is the busiest retail park in North Wales, recording an average annual footfall of 10 million. Branches of many popular high street stores have an outlet in the park. Retail outlets include Asda Living, Primark and SportsDirect. The retail park hosts facilities which include: free car parking for over 2,000 cars, ATMs, toilets, and baby changing areas. It is located opposite the Airbus factory on Chester Road (A5104), 4 miles west of Chester city centre, and 400 metres from the England-Wales border.In addition to shopping venues, the retail park is host to numerous outlets for food and drink with the Mill House Pub also on the site. A Cineworld multi-screen IMAX cinema opened in 2015, alongside restaurants including Frankie and Benny's, Nandos, and Prezzo.Every year, a jobs fair is held at the shopping park, with the most recent hosted in October 2021.

Broughton & Bretton railway station was a station in Bretton, Flintshire, Wales near Broughton, Flintshire. The station was opened on 14 August 1849 and completely closed on 4 May 1964. The station building is now in use as veterinary practice and the east bound platform waiting shelter is still extant.

Dodleston is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The village is situated to the south west of Chester, very close to the England–Wales border. The civil parish includes Balderton, Gorstella, Lower Kinnerton and Rough Hill. It is one of the three old Cheshire parishes which are situated on the Flintshire side of the River Dee.Dodleston has a village shop with post office, village hall, village green, a C of E primary school, the Grade II listed St Mary's Church and the Grade II listed 'Red Lion' pub. It also contains some good examples of buildings by the 19th-century architect John Douglas. At the 2001 census, the population of Dodleston was 777, reducing to 715 at the 2011 census.

Dodleston Castle in Cheshire was founded in the Middle Ages as a ringwork castle before being developed into a motte-and-bailey.: 42  It was first mentioned in 1277, but may have existed in the 12th century when the manor of Dodleston was held by the Boydel family.: 27  The site has been protected as a scheduled monument since 1952. The earthworks were surveyed in 1964, 1986, and 1995 – the third survey was the most detailed and was carried out by University College Chester.: 36
