Rock Edge Nature Reserve

Rock Edge is a 1.7-hectare (4.2-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Oxford in Oxfordshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site and a Local Nature ReserveThis site exposes limestone rich in coral called Coral rag, laid down when the area was under a warm, shallow sea, similar to the Bahama Banks today. It is rich in fossils derived from the coral reefs. It dates to the Upper Jurassic, around 145 million years ago.

Wood Farm is a residential district of Oxford, England, south of Headington in the southeast of the city. It largely consists of social housing built in the 1950s and 1960s, originally intended to house workers from the nearby car factory. The Eastern By-Pass is to the east, Cowley is to the southwest and Headington Quarry is to the north.

Lye Valley is a 2.3-hectare (5.7-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Headington, a suburb of Oxford in Oxfordshire. It is part of the 4.5-hectare (11-acre) Lye Valley Local Nature Reserve, which is owned and managed by Oxford City Council.The site contains a range of habitats including spring-fed lowland fen, dominated by rushes and sedges, a variety of ponds, and wet woodland with small representations of lowland calcareous grassland, wood pasture and parkland. Lye Valley has one of the best examples in the country of a calcareous valley fen, a nationally rare habitat. The plant and animal species of the Lye Valley fen are thought to have lived there since they colonised the spring areas after the retreat of the last ice age between eight and ten thousand years ago. The site has been studied by botanists since the 17th century and attracted particular interest in the Victorian era. More than 300 species of vascular plants have been recorded in the area, though some of them have not been found in recent years. Rare plants include grass-of-Parnassus and marsh helleborine orchid, which are on the Red List of Threatened Species compiled by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).Bird species found in the valley include reed warbler, reed bunting, water rail and snipe.

Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry, is located in the district of Headington Quarry, Oxford, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the Diocese of Oxford.

Headington Quarry is a residential district of Oxford, England, located east of Headington and west of Risinghurst, just inside the Oxford ring road in the east of the city. To the south is Wood Farm. Today the district is also known colloquially as "Quarry". The area, now residential, is considerably uneven due to previous quarrying in the area. The Church of England parish church of the Holy Trinity was designed by George Gilbert Scott and built in 1848–49. The east window of its chancel was designed by Ninian Comper. The Friends of Holy Trinity Church was founded in 2002 to raise funds and look after the church. In 1930, C. S. Lewis, Oxford academic and author of The Chronicles of Narnia, and his brother Warnie moved, with Janie Moore and her daughter Maureen, into "The Kilns", a house on the outskirts of Headington Quarry. Lewis attended Holy Trinity Church. He first preached there on 29 March 1942, on the subject of "Religion and pleasure", and he is buried in the churchyard. There is a former Methodist Chapel in Quarry High Street. The Headington Quarry Morris Dancers are based in the area. Headington Quarry Morris Dancers were the first Morris dancers ever seen by Cecil Sharp, on Boxing Day 1899. This chance meeting was one of the events that sparked a lifelong interest in folk dance, song and music, to which Sharp devoted much of his life. Headington Quarry was designated a conservation area in 1971, and the Friends of Quarry is a residents' association which aims to preserve the distinctive character of the Conservation Area and its immediate neighbourhood.

Old Road is a long street in Headington, east Oxford, England, extending into Oxfordshire as a road east of Oxford, to Littleworth near Wheatley. It is part of the main old road between Oxford and London until the late 18th century, passing over Shotover Hill. Nowadays it crosses the Oxford Ring Road (A4142) with a bridge. At the western end, Old Road connects with Warneford Lane, Gypsy Road, and Roosevelt Drive, close to Cheney School and the Warneford Hospital. Travelling east, the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) and Rock Edge Nature Reserve (including the old Rock Edge quarry site, a Site of Special Scientific Interest) are to the north, near the junction with Windmill Road (north) and The Slade (south). Passing across Eastern By-Pass Road (A4142, part of the Oxford Ring Road), the road passed through Shotover Country Park. The paved section of the road end in a car park next to Shotover Country Park, and the road continues largely as a dirt track until it reaches a small reservoir. At the eastern end, Old Road joins Littleworth Road in Littleworth on the outskirts of Wheatley. Due to the unpaved section, Old Road today acts as two separate roads, one on Oxford (and leading to Shotover Country Park just outside the city) and a shorter section being a de facto cul-de-sac in Littleworth. The Old Road Campus of Oxford University, to the south of Old Road, is named after the road.

The Headington Shark (proper name Untitled 1986) is a rooftop sculpture located at 2 New High Street, Headington, Oxford, England, depicting a large shark embedded head-first in the roof of a house. It was protest art, put up without permission, to be symbolic of bombs crashing into buildings.

The Big Data Institute (BDI), part of the Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Information and Discovery, is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Oxford. The institute brings together researchers from both the Nuffield Department of Population Health and the Nuffield Department of Medicine. The BDI building is on the Old Road Campus in Headington, east Oxford, England.Academics from the BDI are advising the British government about a mobile phone app to track the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.

The Old Road Campus is a University of Oxford site south of Old Road, in Headington, east Oxford, England. The Churchill Hospital, a teaching hospital managed by the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is to the south.
