Lye Valley

Rock Edge is a 1.7-hectare (4.2-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Oxford in Oxfordshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site and a Local Nature ReserveThis site exposes limestone rich in coral called Coral rag, laid down when the area was under a warm, shallow sea, similar to the Bahama Banks today. It is rich in fossils derived from the coral reefs. It dates to the Upper Jurassic, around 145 million years ago.

Rock Edge Nature Reserve is a small nature reserve and park in an area that was once a limestone quarry in Headington, east Oxford, England.The local geology is made up of an old tropical coral reef, with coral outcrops surrounded by old sand bottom beds, similar to what is found in the waters around the Bahamas today. A small track leads meanders around the old quarry, where fossils of ancient marine creatures can still be found.

The building is named after the physician and epidemiologist Sir Richard Doll CH OBE FRS (1912–2005).The building houses the Nuffield Department of Population Health and includes the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit, Clinical Trial Service Unit, Epidemiological Studies Unit, Cancer Epidemiology Unit, Screening Unit, and the Office of the Regius Professor of Medicine.The Richard Doll Building was designed by Nicholas Hare Architects in 2006. The building is 9,000m2 and won the RIBA South-East Award in 2007.A plaque inside the building contains the following quotation by Richard Doll: Death in old age is inevitable, but death before old age is not. In previous centuries 70 years used to be regarded as humanity's allotted span of life, and only about one in five lived to such an age. Nowadays, however, for non-smokers in Western countries, the situation is reversed: only about one in five will die before 70, and the non-smoker death rates are still decreasing, offering the promise, at least in developed countries, of a world where death before 70 is uncommon. Bullingdon Green was a cricket ground south of Oxford, England. It was associated with the Bullingdon Club and was an important site in the early history of cricket in Oxford. The ground operated as a first-class cricket venue in 1843, hosting two first-class matches. It was subsequently built on in 1876 with the Cowley Barracks.

It largely consists of social housing built in the 1950s and 1960s, originally intended to house workers from the nearby car factory.
