In 2005 this bridge had work carried out to strengthen it to withstand the impact of a heavy goods vehicle.

Cabus is a village and civil parish in Lancashire, England. It lies 12 miles north of Preston, 9 miles south of Lancaster and 16 miles north east of Blackpool. The electoral ward of Cabus, which includes some northern suburbs of Garstang and a rural area around the village, had a population of 1,573 in 2001 and lies in the Wyre district. The population of the parish was 1,522 at the 2011 Census.

Forton is a village and civil parish in the Wyre district of the English county of Lancashire near the Forest of Bowland. It is near the A6 road, between the city of Lancaster and the town of Garstang. Its population as measured at the 2011 census is 1,213. It has one school, Forton Primary School, several churches and one pub, the New Holly.

Garstang is an ancient market town and civil parish within the Wyre borough of Lancashire, England. It is 10 miles (16 km) north of the city of Preston and the same distance south of Lancaster. In 2011, the parish had a total resident population of 4,268; the larger Garstang Built-up Area, which includes the adjoining settlements of Bonds and Cabus, had population of 6,779. Garstang is famous for being the world's first ever Fairtrade Town.

Barnacre-with-Bonds is a civil parish in the Wyre district of Lancashire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,751 increasing to 2,148 at the 2011 Census. The parish covers an area to the south and east of Garstang, including the settlements of Bonds, Calder Vale and Bowgreave. In Bowgreave, there is Garstang Community Academy, formerly known as Garstang High School, and an eighteen-hole golf course, near the Best Western Hotel. Barnacre also includes a pub the Kenlis Arms Hotel, which is a former hunting lodge built in 1856, and is adjacent to the site of the former Garstang and Catterall railway station. Calder Vale, which is one of the most isolated villages in England, has only one road providing access. It lies in a deep valley of the River Calder. The 5-star self-catering Barnacre holiday cottages are located near the village. The parish includes the Anglican All Saints Church, Barnacre, and St John the Evangelist, Calder Vale; the Catholic Church of St Mary and St Michael, Bonds; and Calder Vale Methodist Chapel. It also includes the ruins of Greenhalgh Castle. The parish is mostly rural and hilly with a small population.
