Forton, Lancashire

Hollins Lane is a village near the village of Forton, in the Wyre District, in the English county of Lancashire. The village has the Lancaster and Preston Junction Railway running through it but there is no station.

Bay Horse railway station (also known as Bayhorse station) was a rural station in Lancashire, England. It was named after the nearby Bay Horse Inn, and later the small hamlet of Bay Horse developed around the station. The station opened in 1840 on the Lancaster and Preston Junction Railway, by a level-crossing on Whams Lane. Many years later, the road was diverted 100 yards (100 m) north to pass under the railway by bridge. In the 1840s, Jack Smith, an engine driver frustrated by having to wait every Sunday for the level crossing gate to be opened, carried out his threat to drive through the closed gate. The impact was sufficient to derail the small engine, although nobody was injured.A much more serious accident occurred on 21 August 1848, when a northbound Euston to Glasgow express ploughed into the back of a local train stopped at the station. A woman was killed and about twenty passengers were injured. The woman's 18-month-old child was thrown out of the carriage window but was barely injured.On 24 October 1861, a northbound mail train collided with a goods train at the station, but only a driver, fireman and one passenger were injured.The station closed to passengers on 13 June 1960, and to goods on 18 May 1964; the last but one to close on the Preston to Lancaster section of the West Coast Main Line, though the line itself continues.

Bay Horse is a sparsely populated hamlet in the English county of Lancashire. It lies between Lancaster and Preston to the north and south respectively.

Lancaster (Forton) services is a motorway service station, between junctions 32 and 33 of the M6 motorway in England. The nearest city is Lancaster, about seven miles (11 km) to the north. The site is operated by Moto. Like many older service stations, it has an all-weather enclosed bridge which enables pedestrians to use both the northbound and southbound facilities. In 2005 this bridge had work carried out to strengthen it to withstand the impact of a heavy goods vehicle.

St Peter's Church is in the village of Scorton, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Garstang, the archdeaconry of Lancaster and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is united with those of All Saints, Barnacre, and St John the Evangelist, Calder Vale. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. Its spire is a landmark near the M6 motorway.

Cockerham is a small village and civil parish within the City of Lancaster district in Lancashire, England. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Lancaster and 15 miles (24 km) north-northwest of Preston. Lying on the River Cocker, at the estuary of the River Lune, the parish had a population of 671 at the 2011 Census.Cockerham has lain within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire since the Middle Ages, having previously formed a township and parish within the hundred of Lonsdale. Between 1894 and 1974, Cockerham lay within the Lancaster Rural District.Medieval life of Cockerham manor has been recorded in the Custumal of the Manor of Cockerham, compiled in 1326–1327 and revised in 1463. The custumal, a record of rents and services owed by the tenants to their landlord, combines a local code of laws with an inventory of all resources of the land, from peat fuel, cattle and sheep to shoreline mussels. The tenants were forbidden to trade local fuel to the "strangers" who collected mussels on the shore.The local church is St. Michael's. The original parish church was in the middle of the village but was resited on higher ground due to frequent flooding. Close by are the remains of Cockersand Abbey. The village has a pub, the Manor Inn.

Cabus is a village and civil parish in Lancashire, England. It lies 12 miles north of Preston, 9 miles south of Lancaster and 16 miles north east of Blackpool. The electoral ward of Cabus, which includes some northern suburbs of Garstang and a rural area around the village, had a population of 1,573 in 2001 and lies in the Wyre district. The population of the parish was 1,522 at the 2011 Census.
