St Michael's Church, Brynford

Brynford (Welsh: Brynffordd) is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). Brynford had a population of 1,059 at the 2011 census.St Michael's Church (Church in Wales) dates from 1851 and is a Grade II listed building. The Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel, serving Brynford, is in the nearby village of Calcoed. Two Bronze Age round barrows known as Clwt Militia (Militia Patch) are located on Holywell Golf Club, about 0.65 miles (1 km) north-northwest of the church.Historically, the area was extensively mined for lead and has been left with the scars of that past all over its common land.The explorer and journalist Henry Morton Stanley was a student teacher in the old village school.The community includes the villages of Calcoed and Dolphin.

Holywell Golf Club (Welsh: Clwb Golff Treffynnon) is a golf club, situated a mile southwest of the town of Holywell, Flintshire, Wales. Instituted in 1906, it is an 18-hole moorland and parkland course and is approximately 800 feet above sea level. In 2001 the club nearly faced bankruptcy due to problems with Foot-and-mouth disease from roaming sheep.

Calcoed is a small village in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell, to the north west of the village of Brynford and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). It contains the Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel and several houses.

Lluesty Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Lluesty) was a community hospital in Holywell, Flintshire, Wales. It was managed by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Holywell Workhouse Chapel was built in association with Holywell Workhouse in Old Chester Road, Holywell, Flintshire, Wales (grid reference SJ189750). It was built, together with some "vagrants' wards" for the workhouse, in 1883–84 to a design by the Chester architect John Douglas.The chapel is built in stone with a slate roof and has a shingled flèche. The workhouse later became Lluesty Hospital. The chapel is designated by Cadw as Grade II listed building.

Holywell was a rural district in the administrative county of Flintshire, Wales, from 1894 to 1974. The district was created by the Local Government Act 1894 as successor to Holywell Rural Sanitary District. The Rural District Council was based in the town of Holywell, which was a separate urban district. Holywell Rural District was abolished in 1974 by the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the district of Delyn in the county of Clwyd. The district contained the following civil parishes:

St Winefride's Church (also known as St Winifred's Church or St Winefred's Church) is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Holywell, Flintshire. It was founded by the Society of Jesus and was until recently the first church in the United Kingdom to be administered by the Vocationist Fathers now since departed as the parish returns into diocesan hands. It is Grade II listed building. It was the first church the Jesuits built in Wales.

Carmel is a small village in Flintshire, Wales, just outside Holywell. Carmel has a primary school and a village hall. The village had two functioning chapels - Carmel Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, from which the village gets its name, and Seion Congregationalist Chapel. Both are now closed. Carmel & District Cricket Club played their matches in the village until the 1990s when they moved to a new ground a short distance away. It is in Whitford Community. Carmel is west of Holway.

Holywell Town railway station was a station in Holywell, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 1 July 1912 and closed on 6 September 1954. There was a single platform with two wooden shelters, a run round loop and extensive goods facilities. The station could be accessed by a sloping path down from a road bridge. There are no remains of the station today, just the track-bed and elevated goods yard site on the northwest side of the road over bridge.
