The West Atlanta Watershed Alliance Outdoor Activity Center (OAC) is a public environmental education, nature preserve, and outdoor activity facility in Atlanta, Georgia. The center is 26 acres (0.11 km2) and focuses on educational outreach and outdoor activities in an urban setting.As of 2014, the OAC contains approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) of trails, a ropes course, a nature-themed playground, a tree house classroom, a 650-US-gallon (2,500 L; 540 imp gal) freshwater aquarium, and a multi-purpose building.When the center opened in 1975 as the Bush Mountain Outdoor Activity Center, it was Atlanta's "first and only environmental education and outdoor recreation facility." Atlanta Public Schools leased 8 acres (0.032 km2) to the OAC for $1 a year, and the Natural Science for Youth Foundation helped fund, organize and staff the original center. The Atlanta Bureau of Parks and Recreation later purchased the property from the school system and assumed maintenance of the parkland.In 2007, the National Wildlife Federation referred to the OAC as "an ecological jewel."The center is located beside the former practice lot for the Atlanta Black Crackers.

Oakland City is a rail station in Atlanta, Georgia, serving the Red and Gold lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. Opened on December 15, 1984, it has one island platform between two tracks. Both sides of the station are accessed via a pedestrian underpass beneath adjacent roadways and, in the case of the east underpass, a freight railway. Though at-grade, the steep embankment on which this station is situated gives it the appearance of an elevated station. This station mainly serves the Oakland City, Sylvan Hills and Capitol View neighborhoods of Atlanta. Bus service is provided at this station to Barge Road Park & Ride, South Fulton Medical Center, Sylvan Hills, and Greenbriar Mall.

West End is a historic neighborhood in the U.S. city of Atlanta, one of the oldest outside Downtown Atlanta, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. West End residents are primarily (86%) African American and the neighborhood contains several prominent African American cultural institutions, in addition to being adjacent to the Atlanta University Center complex of HBCUs. West End is located southwest of Castleberry Hill, east of Westview, west of Adair Park Historic District, and just north of Oakland City. Architectural styles within the district include Craftsman Bungalow, Queen Anne, Stick style, Folk Victorian, Colonial Revival, American Foursquare and Neoclassical Revival.

Joel Chandler Harris House, also known as The Wren's Nest or Snap Bean Farm, is a Queen Anne style house at 1050 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. (formerly Gordon Street.), SW. in Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1870, it was home to Joel Chandler Harris, editor of the Atlanta Constitution and author of the Uncle Remus Tales, from 1881 until his death in 1908.The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962 for its association with Harris, and is also designated as a historic building by the City of Atlanta. It is now a historic house museum.

Capitol View is a historic in-town southwest Atlanta neighborhood 2.5 miles from downtown Atlanta, Georgia that was named for its view of the Georgia State Capitol building. Its boundaries include Metropolitan Parkway to the east, Lee Street to the west, and the Beltline to the north. On the south, the border follows Arden Street, Deckner Avenue, and Perkerson Park. Capitol View is filled with a housing stock of 1915-1925 of craftsman bungalows as well as earlier Queen Anne houses that precede the planned development of the neighborhood. Several of the Queen Annes on Metropolitan Avenue were built by the Deckner family, for whom Decker Avenue is named. Many of the historic homes are rapidly being renovated as the neighborhood continues to revitalize and attract new residents.

Venetian Hills is an official neighborhood in southwest Atlanta, in the U.S. state of Georgia. Its 2010 population was 3,790.It is bordered: on the north by Cascade Avenue/Road SW, Avon Avenue SW, and the Bush Mountain neighborhood on the north and east by Epworth St. and the Oakland City neighborhood on the south and east by Fort McPherson on the south by Campbellton Road and the neighborhoods of Pomona Park and Campbellton Road on the west by Centra Villa Drive SW and the Adams Park neighborhood

Adair Park is a residential neighborhood located southwest of downtown Atlanta. It has the form of a left curly bracket, bordered by the MARTA north–south rail line on the northwest, the BeltLine trail on the southwest and Metropolitan Parkway on the east. Historically Adair Park also included the area from Metropolitan Parkway to McDaniel Street on the east, but the city now considers that area part of the Pittsburgh neighborhood.

The Hammonds House Museum is a museum for African American fine art, located at 503 Peeples Street SW in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. It is located in the 1857 Victorian house, former residence of Dr. Otis Thrash Hammonds, a prominent Atlanta physician and patron of the arts. The Victorian house is believed to have been built in 1857, and to be one of the three oldest houses in West End.

West End is an elevated rail station on the Red and Gold lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system servicing the West End and most of Southwest Atlanta, including neighborhoods bordering Cascade Road and Metropolitan Parkway. The West End station opened on September 11, 1982. This station provides access to The Mall at Westend and the Woodruff Library Shuttle to Clark Atlanta University. Bus service is provided at this station to Westend Medical Center, Joel Chandler Harris Home (the Wren's Nest), Hammonds House, The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College, The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center Atlanta, Atlanta Technical College, Atlanta Metropolitan College, The Salvation Army Firecrest Missioners Center, Spelman College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Morehouse College, Hapeville, Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) and The Atlanta University Center.

Perkerson Park is a 50-acre (200,000 m2) park in the Capitol View/Sylvan Hills neighborhoods of Atlanta, Georgia with everything from a splash pad to an elaborate playground to recreational fields, all under the shady canopy of huge oak trees. Park is open 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.

Westview is a historic intown neighborhood located in southwest Atlanta, Georgia. It is named for the Westview Cemetery that borders the neighborhood to the northwest. The neighborhood is made up of a mixture of architectural styles including Arts & Crafts bungalows, Four-Squares, Tudors, Minimal Traditional houses, and Ranch style houses.

The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College, or EBC, is an accredited theological college administered by The Salvation Army. The school is located in Atlanta, Georgia and is named after General Evangeline Booth, the 4th General of The Salvation Army. The Evangeline Booth College follows the Salvation Army's ranking system where there are first-year and second-year cadets. Evangeline Booth College was established for the training of Salvation Army Officers. Enrolled students are referred to as either first-year or second-year cadets. Once a cadet completes two years of training and receives his associate degree (or higher degree if building upon credits from another institution), the cadet is commissioned as a Salvation Army officer with the rank of lieutenant. According to the Evangeline Booth College website, the aim of the college is to "To develop officers possessing such blood and fire spirit that they will be enabled to sustain and advance the interest of The Salvation Army."
