West End station (MARTA)

Adair Park is a residential neighborhood located southwest of downtown Atlanta. It has the form of a left curly bracket, bordered by the MARTA north–south rail line on the northwest, the BeltLine trail on the southwest and Metropolitan Parkway on the east. Historically Adair Park also included the area from Metropolitan Parkway to McDaniel Street on the east, but the city now considers that area part of the Pittsburgh neighborhood.

Morehouse School of Medicine is a private co-educational medical school in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally a part of Morehouse College, the school became independent in 1981. The school abbreviates its name with its initials "MSM."

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is a museum located on the Spelman College campus in Atlanta. The museum is housed in the Camille O. Hanks Cosby Academic Center named after philanthropist Camille Cosby, who had two daughters attend Spelman College. The museum states that it is the only museum in the nation dedicated to art by and about women of the African diaspora.Some Black women artists the museum has featured include Amy Sherald, Mickalene Thomas, and Reneé Stout. Each semester, the museum features a new exhibit; past exhibits have included artists Beverly Buchanan (2017) and Zanele Muholi.

Joel Chandler Harris House, also known as The Wren's Nest or Snap Bean Farm, is a Queen Anne style house at 1050 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. (formerly Gordon Street.), SW. in Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1870, it was home to Joel Chandler Harris, editor of the Atlanta Constitution and author of the Uncle Remus Tales, from 1881 until his death in 1908.The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962 for its association with Harris, and is also designated as a historic building by the City of Atlanta. It is now a historic house museum.

The Hammonds House Museum is a museum for African American fine art, located at 503 Peeples Street SW in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. It is located in the 1857 Victorian house, former residence of Dr. Otis Thrash Hammonds, a prominent Atlanta physician and patron of the arts. The Victorian house is believed to have been built in 1857, and to be one of the three oldest houses in West End.

B.T. Harvey Stadium is a stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Morehouse College.

West End is a historic neighborhood in the U.S. city of Atlanta, one of the oldest outside Downtown Atlanta, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. West End residents are primarily (86%) African American and the neighborhood contains several prominent African American cultural institutions, in addition to being adjacent to the Atlanta University Center complex of HBCUs. West End is located southwest of Castleberry Hill, east of Westview, west of Adair Park Historic District, and just north of Oakland City. Architectural styles within the district include Craftsman Bungalow, Queen Anne, Stick style, Folk Victorian, Colonial Revival, American Foursquare and Neoclassical Revival.

Spelman College is a private, historically black, women's liberal arts college in Atlanta, Georgia. It is part of the Atlanta University Center academic consortium in Atlanta. Founded in 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary, Spelman received its collegiate charter in 1924, making it America's second oldest private historically black liberal arts college for women.

The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College, or EBC, is an accredited theological college administered by The Salvation Army. The school is located in Atlanta, Georgia and is named after General Evangeline Booth, the 4th General of The Salvation Army. The Evangeline Booth College follows the Salvation Army's ranking system where there are first-year and second-year cadets. Evangeline Booth College was established for the training of Salvation Army Officers. Enrolled students are referred to as either first-year or second-year cadets. Once a cadet completes two years of training and receives his associate degree (or higher degree if building upon credits from another institution), the cadet is commissioned as a Salvation Army officer with the rank of lieutenant. According to the Evangeline Booth College website, the aim of the college is to "To develop officers possessing such blood and fire spirit that they will be enabled to sustain and advance the interest of The Salvation Army."

Morehouse College is a private historically black men's liberal arts college in Atlanta, Georgia. Anchored by its main campus of 61 acres (25 ha) near downtown Atlanta, the college has a variety of residential dorms and academic buildings east of Ashview Heights. Along with Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, and the Morehouse School of Medicine, the college is a member of the Atlanta University Center consortium. Founded by William Jefferson White in 1867 in response to the liberation of enslaved African-Americans following the American Civil War, Morehouse adopted a seminary university model and stressed religious instruction in the Baptist tradition. Throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s, the college experienced rapid, albeit financially unstable, institutional growth by establishing a liberal arts curriculum. The three-decade tenure of Benjamin Mays during the mid-20th century led to strengthened finances, an enrollment boom, and increased academic competitiveness. The college has played a key role in the development of the civil rights movement and racial equality in the United States.The largest men's liberal arts college in the U.S., Morehouse has been home to 11 Fulbright Scholars, 5 Rhodes Scholars, and 5 Marshall Scholars, and is the alma mater of many celebrated African-Americans, including civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Julian Bond, World Series MVP Donn Clendenon, and entertainment icons Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson. Among Morehouse alumni, traditionally known as "Morehouse Men", the college has graduated numerous "African American firsts" in local, state and federal government, as well as in science, academia, business, and entertainment.

Beaver Slide or Beavers' Slide was an African American slum area near Atlanta University documented as early as 1882. It was replaced by the University Homes public housing project in 1937, which was razed in 2008–9. Charles Forrest Palmer, the man who organized the clearance of Beaver Slide and creation of University Homes, stated in his autobiographical book that Beaver Slide's name was due to James Beavers, Atlanta Chief of Police from 1911 to 1915, once observing the slum from a hillside, losing his footing and sliding down into the slum, thus: "Beavers' Slide".Beaver Slide was noted for its criminality. In 1925 the area was targeted for a "cleanup" by city and university authorities.The area was celebrated musically in the "Beaver Slide Rag" by Peg Leg Howell And His Gang, 1927.It was finally razed to make for the University Homes public housing projects (William Augustus Edwards, architect), which opened in 1938. University Homes was razed in 2008–9. As of January 2012 there has been no definitive announcement of what will be built on the land.

Pittsburgh is a neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1883 as a black working-class suburb alongside the Pegram rail shops. It was named Pittsburgh because the industrial area reminded one of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and its famous steel mills. Pittsburgh is a working class and developing neighborhood, and as property values rise in Intown Atlanta neighborhoods, many see possibility that this trend will spread to Pittsburgh while bringing renewal for legacy residents.
