Birchgrove Park

Birchgrove is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Birchgrove is located five kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Inner West Council. Birchgrove is located on the north-west slope of the Balmain peninsula, overlooking Sydney Harbour, and includes Yurulbin and Ballast Points. Balmain is the only adjacent suburb. The long waterfront provides views of the Parramatta River with Cockatoo Island dominating the foreground. It is one of the wealthier suburbs of Sydney thanks to its harbour frontages. Until former Leichhardt Council extended its boundaries in the first decade of the twenty first century, Birchgrove was a much smaller suburb bounded by Grove and Cove Streets.

The Sir William Wallace Hotel was an historic pub in the suburb of Birchgrove on the Balmain Peninsula in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The pub is one of a number of buildings which formed an integral part of the shipbuilding and industrial history of the local area.

Wyoming is a heritage-listed residence at 25 Wharf Road, Birchgrove, Inner West Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999 and the former Register of the National Estate on 28 May 1996.

Balmain Sailing Club is a sailing club in Municipality of Leichhardt in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The club currently has approximately 300 members and races a keelboat fleet and a dinghy fleet. The club runs a full racing calendar throughout the year, with Summer, Winter and Spring series, along with Summer Twilights (pre- and post-Christmas) and a number of non point-score races. Keelboat fleet races are organised across 4 divisions, with entrants from clubs across the western harbour area on Sundays, and as another 4 divisions in the Friday Twilight Series during summer. The dinghy fleet races in two divisions.

Mort's Dock is a former dry dock, slipway, and shipyard in Balmain, New South Wales, Australia. It was the first dry dock in Australia, opening for business in 1855 and closing more than a century later in 1959. The site is now parkland.

Balmain Colliery was a coal mine located in Birchgrove in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It produced coal from 1897 until 1931 and natural gas from 1937 to 1950. At approximately 800 metres (2,600 ft) in depth, it remains the deepest coal mine ever to have been sunk in Australia.

The Parramatta River is an intermediate tide-dominated, drowned valley estuary located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. With an average depth of 5.1 metres (17 ft), the Parramatta River is the main tributary of Sydney Harbour, a branch of Port Jackson. Secondary tributaries include the smaller Lane Cove and Duck rivers. Formed by the confluence of Toongabbie Creek and Darling Mills Creek at North Parramatta, the river flows in an easterly direction to a line between Yurulbin in Birchgrove and Manns Point in Greenwich. Here it flows into Port Jackson, about 21 kilometres (13 mi) from the Tasman Sea. The total catchment area of the river is approximately 252.4 square kilometres (97.5 sq mi) and is tidal to Charles Street Weir in Parramatta, approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the Sydney Heads.The land adjacent to the Parramatta River was occupied for many thousands of years by Aboriginal peoples of the Wallumettagal nations and the Wangal, Toongagal (or Tugagal), Burramattagal, and Wategora clans of the Darug people. They used the river as an important source of food and a place for trade. The river was formed 15 to 29 million years ago as its waters began to cut a valley into sandstone and shale.

The Dry Dock Hotel is a heritage-listed pub located in Balmain, a suburb in the inner west region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The pub is the oldest licensed hotel in Balmain and one of a number of establishments which formed an integral part of the shipbuilding and industrial heritage of the local area.

Morrison & Sinclair was a Sydney, New South Wales based company and one of the great ship and boatbuilding names of Port Jackson. The company was founded in the early 1890s and ceased trading in 1970.

Yurulbin Park (formerly Long Nose Park) is a 0.61-hectare (1.5-acre) public open space located at the end of Yurulbin Point on the Balmain Peninsula in the suburb of Birchgrove in the Inner West Council local government area in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Birchgrove ferry wharf (also known as Yurulbin Point ferry wharf and, formerly, Longnose Point ferry wharf) is located on Sydney Harbour serving the Sydney suburb of Birchgrove. It is served by Sydney Ferries Cockatoo Island services operating between Circular Quay and Cockatoo Island. The single wharf is served by First Fleet, SuperCat and Emerald class ferries. Birchgrove is also served by Captain Cook Cruises Lane Cove River services. Located near the wharf is a board which tells the Aboriginal history of the area.The wharf was closed for a major upgrade on 17 October 2017, reopening on 24 April 2018.
