Caddington

Caddington F.C. are a football club based in Caddington, near Luton, England. The club is affiliated to the Bedfordshire County Football Association and are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Division Two.

Lower Woodside forms part of the wider Slip End civil parish, and is close to the county border with Hertfordshire. The nearest large town to the settlement is Luton.

Aley Green is a hamlet in Bedfordshire, England. Aley Green is within the civil parish of Caddington. However, the cemetery and the southern end of Mancroft Road (including Aley Green Methodist Church) are in the parish of Slip End, though they are considered to be part of Aley Green. Throughout its history, Aley Green has been a border settlement between Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The settlement formerly straddled the border of the two counties, until boundary changes in 1965 brought Aley Green entirely into Bedfordshire.

Woodside Farm and Wildfowl Park is a rare breeds farm and wildfowl park at Slip End near Luton in Central Bedfordshire. The park covers 7 acres (28,000 m2) and includes animals such as flamingos, monkeys, llamas, horses, cows, pigs, wallabies, lemurs, goats, raccoons, giant tortoises, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and ducks. There is also an adventure play area and 18 hole crazy golf.

Woodside is a hamlet located in the Central Bedfordshire district of Bedfordshire, England. Located at the junction of Woodside Road and Grove Road, Woodside stands 546 feet above sea level. The underlying geology is a Chalk Group known as Lewes Nodular Chalk Formation and Seaford Chalk Formation which was deposited between 84 and 94 million years ago in the Cretaceous Period. The superficial geology is clay with flints, deposited in the Quaternary and Neogene Periods.It is probable that the settlement was established in the early Middle Ages through clearing the northern end of Caddington Wood by squatters seeking land outside Caddington Manor (hence the name "Woodside" and its linear shape). Most of the settlement stands on higher ground between two parallel valleys. The squatter development of Woodside continued into the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.A Baptist Church was established in the settlement in 1862, while St Andrew's Anglican Church was established in Woodside as the "Slip End Mission Church" in 1878.Today, Woodside forms part of the Slip End civil parish (where the 2011 Civil Parish population was included), and is located directly southwest of the M1 motorway. The motorway acts as the border between Woodside and the large town of Luton.

Caddington Hall was a country estate in Markyate, Bedfordshire, England. The house was demolished in 1975.In 1804, a family by the name of Pedley traded their farm for the estate, where a small house had stood. They tore it down and built Caddington Hall.

Markyate Priory was a Benedictine priory in Bedfordshire, England. It was established in 1145 and disestablished in 1537.

Cell Park (previously known as Markyate Cell) is a country house in Markyate, Hertfordshire near Luton, England. The house dates from the 16th century, has been modified at various times since then and was largely rebuilt in 1908 after a fire. It stands in 79 acres of land and is a Grade II* listed building.The hall is a rectangular brick-built structure with corner turrets, linked by an arcade to service buildings forming a quadrangle. The house was originally built c. 1539 for Humphrey Bouchier on land previously belonging to the suppressed Markyate Priory. The house was subsequently extended and remodelled in the 17th century for the Ferrers and the Coppin families. It was remodelled again in 1825 to create the present layout by Robert Lugar for Daniel Goodson Adey. Sir John de Fontblaque Pennefather made further changes in the early 20th century, moving the entrance and creating a ballroom from the arcade. It was on sale in 2014 for £4.5m, and as of 2023 is on sale again for £5.7m. The hall is known for being the home of Lady Katherine Ferrers, reputedly the "Wicked Lady", a 17th-century highwaywoman who operated in Hertfordshire and was eventually shot. The hall had a secret staircase hidden behind the fireplace, and Lady Katherine would allegedly dress in men's clothes and exit via the staircase to escape into the night.

The Stockwood Park Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Rotheram Avenue Luton, Bedfordshire, England and is part of The Shared Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust in Luton and Central Bedfordshire. The school converted to academy status on 1 September 2007, and was renamed Barnfield South Academy as part of the Barnfield Federation. In March 2011, the school moved to a new £30 million building situated on the old playing field of the former Rotheram High School site, equipped with ICT facilities, including a 300-seat theatre. Farley Hill is a suburb of south Luton, Bedfordshire, England. The area is roughly bounded by the Dallow Downs to the north and north-east, Stockwood Park to the south, the M1 motorway to the west, and Wilsden Avenue and Bolingbroke Road to the east.

Slip End is a village and civil parish in Central Bedfordshire, England. The village is located very near to Luton. As well as the village of Slip End, the parish contains the hamlets of Lower Woodside, Woodside and Pepperstock. In 2021 it had a population of 1,842.The name of Slip End possibly has a connection with brickworks. Slip is an old English word for clay and End is a common part of place names in Bedfordshire and not unknown in other counties. End refers to small settlements outside larger villages. It is, therefore, possible that Slip End was named in the early 19th century because of the small number of houses built near the new brickworks in an area not previously developed with the older settlements of Woodside and Pepperstock to either side. Nearby Markyate has a Slype Lane which may or not be connected. Another plausible explanation is that 'the slip' in fact is a very deep deposit of clay, situated between the stratas of chalk which form the bedrock of Central Bedfordshire. The southerly extremity of the slip terminates at the appropriately named Slip End.

Chaul End was a temporary railway halt on the Great Northern Railway's branch line from Welwyn which served a munitions factory near Luton during the First World War. The station site has been reused as part of the Luton to Dunstable Busway.
