Château d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin

Angles-sur-l'Anglin (French pronunciation: [ɑ̃ɡl syʁ lɑ̃ɡlɛ̃], literally Angles on the Anglin) is a commune in the Vienne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in western France. It has been selected as one of the most beautiful villages of France. The Château d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin is a ruined castle dating back to the 11th century, originally constructed for the Bishop of Poitiers.

The Anglin (French pronunciation: [ɑ̃ɡlɛ̃]) is a 91.3 km (56.7 mi) long river in the Creuse, Indre and Vienne departments in central France. Its source is near Azerables. It flows generally northwest. It is a right tributary of the Gartempe, into which it flows near Angles-sur-l'Anglin. Its main tributaries are the Salleron, the Abloux and the Benaize. The Anglin is one of France's few remaining "wild rivers" (rivers which have never been dammed). Anglin Castle is an 11th Century castle located high above the banks of the Anglin in the town of Angles-sur-l'Anglin.

Fontgombault Abbey, otherwise the Abbey of Notre-Dame, Fontgombault (French: Abbaye de Fontgombault; Abbaye de Notre-Dame de Fontgombault), is a Benedictine monastery of the Solesmes Congregation located in Fontgombault in the département of Indre, in the province of Berry, France. It was built in the Romanesque architectural style. The monastery, founded in 1091, was dissolved in 1791 and refounded in 1948.

The Gartempe (French pronunciation: [ɡaʁtɑ̃p]) is a French river, 205 kilometres (127 mi) long. It is a left tributary of the Creuse, which it joins in La Roche-Posay. Its source is in the municipality of Peyrabout. Among its tributaries are the Anglin, the Brame, the Semme and the Ardour.
