Central Park (Atlanta)

U-Rescue Villa was an Atlanta Housing Authority public housing complex built in 1970 and torn down in May 2008. It was located at 355 North Avenue N.E., between Central Park and Parkway, in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. It had 70 units and 271 residents at the time of demolition.The name came from a neighborhood organization U.-Rescue which stood for "Urban renewal Emergency: Stop, Consider, Understand, Evaluate". U-Rescue fought for the interests of local residents in the face of massive urban renewal plans after 1965. Slums areas such as Buttermilk Bottom were razed to make way for urban renewal projects such as Bedford Pine, but in reality very little low income housing was ever built to replace the housing units that were razed. U-Rescue and other organizations fought to build more low-income housing and U-Rescue Villa was a result of those efforts.The Cosby Spear high-rise is located in the middle of what was the U-Rescue Villa complex and remains standing, housing senior citizens.

The Tyree Building, at 679 Durant Pl., NE, in Atlanta, Georgia, was built in 1915–16. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was designed by architect Haralson Bleckley and was one of the earliest garden apartments buildings in Atlanta.The Tyree is one of the first buildings in Atlanta built in the Beaux-Arts style of architecture. Only a few out of many Atlanta apartment buildings designed by Bleckley have survived.

Buttermilk Bottom, also known as Buttermilk Bottoms or Black Bottom, was an African-American neighborhood in central Atlanta, centered on the area where the Atlanta Civic Center now stands in the Old Fourth Ward. It was considered a slum area, having unpaved streets and no electricity. The name may refer to the downward slope of the sewers in the area, which caused the backed-up water to have a buttermilk smell residents being unable to afford "sweet" milk, or fresh milk, and instead drinking sour, older milk, which was cultured to add longevity and shelf life to the product in the era prior to modern refrigeration

Renaissance Park is a 5.4 acres (2.2 ha) park in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. The land was originally part of the Buttermilk Bottom slum which was razed in the 1960s. In a 2007 study, many area residents stated that the park is unusable due to aggressive panhandling, drug sales and use including crack cocaine, public urination, and the threat of being mugged, tying these threats and crimes to individuals using the nearby Peachtree Pine shelter.As of November 2013, a new dog park occupies the upper portion of this park. The Renaissance Park Dog Park is a great amenity for the residents living in the Fourth Ward West neighborhood of the Old Fourth Ward and the surrounding Downtown and Midtown neighborhoods. Since the opening of the dog park, the loitering, panhandling, etc. once prevalent in the park have decreased.

Mary Mac's Tea Room is a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, serving Southern cuisine. The restaurant is located in the Midtown district at 224 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE. The current owner is Harold Martin Jr.

The Old Fourth Ward, often abbreviated O4W, is an intown neighborhood on the eastside of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The neighborhood is best known as the location of the Martin Luther King Jr. historic site.

The Rio Shopping Center was a 120,000-square-foot (11,000 m2) open-air shopping center in Atlanta. It was located at the southeast corner of Piedmont Avenue and North Avenue in the northwesternmost part of what is now the Old Fourth Ward, at its border of SoNo and Midtown Atlanta. It was designed by Arquitectonica in postmodern style, landscaped by Martha Schwartz and opened in the Fall of 1988. It was the first free-standing complex of its kind to be built in central Atlanta in more than twenty years.

The Atlanta Civic Center was a theater located in Atlanta, Georgia. It closed in 2014. The theater, which seats 4,600, regularly hosted touring productions of Broadway musicals, concerts, seminars, comedy acts, and high school graduations and commencement ceremonies for Atlanta's John Marshall Law School. In addition to performances, the civic center could host conferences and exhibits as well, with 5,800 square feet (540 m2) of meeting space. The civic center was owned and operated by the Atlanta city government's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, but brought in enough revenue to be self-supporting.[2]

The Edward C. Peters House, also known as Ivy Hall, is a Queen Anne style house in Atlanta, Georgia. It occupies a lot covering an entire city block on the southeast corner of Piedmont Avenue and Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown Atlanta, just north of the SoNo neighborhood. Its current owner is the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Grace United Methodist Church is a Methodist church in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Originally organized as a mission in 1871, the current church building was designed by Francis Palmer Smith and was completed in 1923.

Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center is a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia operated by Wellstar Health System. It has 460 beds and over 700 physicians. The hospital is a Level I Trauma Center, and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. It houses a Neurointensive Care Unit and a Level III Neonatal ICU. It was formerly known as Georgia Baptist Hospital.

The Georgia Power Company Corporate Headquarters is a 24-story, 91 m (299 ft) skyscraper in downtown Atlanta, Georgia serving Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company. The prior Georgia Power headquarters building was in downtown Atlanta at the corner of Alabama and Forsyth streets in the former Atlanta Constitution Building.
