Upper Upham

Snap is an abandoned village near Aldbourne in Wiltshire, England. It is unusual in that it was not abandoned until the 20th century. The village was recorded in 1268 under the name of Snape. It was always a small place: in the 14th century there were 19 poll-tax payers, in 1773 there were between five and ten cottages, and at the 1851 Census the population was 41. In 1905, Henry Wilson, a butcher from Ramsbury, bought the two farms in the village and converted them from arable to sheep farming, which deprived the villagers of their work. By 1909 there were only two residents, and by 1914 the village was deserted. Most of the buildings were destroyed when the site was used for military training in the First World War, and were later plundered for building materials; only earthworks are now visible. The name is remembered in Snap Farm. The site lies near the Ridgeway National Trail.

Woodsend is a hamlet in the civil parish of Aldbourne in Wiltshire, England. Its nearest town is Marlborough, which is approximately 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south-west from the hamlet. Woodsend had a population of 84 in 1851 but decreased in size in the early 20th century. A Wesleyan Methodist chapel was built around 1845 and closed in 1913. A National school for about 20 pupils was opened in 1855 and closed before 1913.

The Battle of Aldbourne Chase was a relatively small battle of the First English Civil War that occurred on 18 September 1643. In the skirmish the Royalist cavalry led by Prince Rupert attacked the extended columns of the Parliamentarian army of the Earl of Essex at Aldbourne Chase, Wiltshire, as he was attempting to get his army to London.The battle in and of itself was inconclusive, but it allowed the Royalists to get to Newbury ahead of Essex and ultimately forced the Parliamentarian army into a major confrontation.

Liddington Castle, locally called Liddington Camp, is a late Bronze Age and early Iron Age univallate hillfort in the English county of Wiltshire, and a scheduled monument.

King Edward's Place is a country house at Foxhill near Wanborough and Liddington in Wiltshire. It is currently known as PGL Liddington and is owned and operated by children's adventure holiday operator PGL. Previous names for the estate include Foxhill Stud Farm and Foxhill Manor. The house is believed to have been bought for King Edward VII to entertain his long-time mistress Lillie Langtry, and has been at various times a racehorse stud yard, a conference centre, and latterly an outdoor education centre.

Ogbourne railway station was on the Midland and South Western Junction Railway in Wiltshire, England. The station opened on 27 July 1881 on the Swindon Town to Marlborough section of the Swindon, Marlborough and Andover Railway. In 1883, a northwards extension, the Swindon and Cheltenham Extension Railway, opened from Swindon Town to Cirencester Watermoor, with further northward extension to a junction with the Great Western Railway's Cheltenham to Banbury line near Andoversford opening in 1891, enabling through trains from the Midlands to the south, through Ogbourne. The SM&AR and the S&CER had in 1884 amalgamated to form the M&SWJR.

Foxhill motocross circuit is a well-known motocross circuit situated near to the small village of Foxhill, around six miles south east of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. Established in the late 1980s, the circuit is highly regarded by motocross enthusiasts in the UK. Set in a valley, much of the circuit winds up and down the steep banks of the valley, with a number of large man-made jumps. The circuit is predominantly hard, chalky soil.

Liddington is a village and civil parish near Swindon in Wiltshire, England. The settlement lies southeast of Swindon town, close to junction 15 of the M4 motorway, which is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) away via the B4192.

The Coombes, Hinton Parva (grid reference SU228826) is a 15.9 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Wiltshire, notified in 1989. The Coombes, made up of chalk grassland, is owned by the National Trust.
