St Mary's Church, North Cockerington

Alvingham Priory was a Gilbertine priory in St. Mary, Alvingham, Lincolnshire, England. The Priory, established between 1148 and 1154, was a "double house", where religious of both sexes lived in two separate monasteries. They did not commonly communicate with one another, and there was an internal wall dividing their priory church. The superior of every Gilbertine house was the prioress, the prior being really an official of her house. The priory has left few visible remains. However, although the priory church has not survived, there are two churches within the priory's former precinct, both of which are pre-Reformation structures and appear to have been founded by the Anglo-Saxons. St Adelwold's church (the parish church of Alvingham) is the only church in England which is dedicated to St. Adelwold.St Mary's Church was originally a chapel belonging to the priory. It became the parish church of North Cockerington at the dissolution and is now under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The cartulary of the priory is preserved at the Bodleian Library. The priory was active until most of its inhabitants died from the Black Death. Men and women continued to join the house until the sixteenth century when all the monasteries of the Gilbertine Order were dissolved. Following the surrender of the house on 29 September 1538 pensions were paid to twenty people: a prior, seven canons, a prioress and eleven nuns.

North Cockerington is a small village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) north-east from Louth. Village population has fluctuated between 150 and 200 since 1801 and currently remains at just below 200, with an equal distribution of males and females.North Cockerington was formerly known as Cockerington St Mary, distinguishing it from Cockerington St Leonard, now South Cockerington. In 1670 Sir Jarvis Scrope founded six tenements for poor people of North and South Cockerington. The village has no shops or public houses. The former post office in Meadow Lane, once called Ashdene, is now Pump Cottage. The village school is North Cockerington Church of England Primary School. The school serves the villages of North and South Cockerington, Alvingham, Yarburgh as well as Louth itself.The Greenwich Prime Zero meridian line passes through the village.

Louth was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey from 1894 to 1974. It was created in 1894 from Louth rural sanitary district. It did not include Louth, which was a separate municipal borough entirely surrounded by the rural district. Its boundaries changed little, losing Trusthorpe to the Mablethorpe and Sutton Urban District in 1925 and ceding suburbs to Louth. It was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972 in 1974 and made part of the new East Lindsey district.

South Cockerington is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from the market town of Louth. The parish church is a Grade I listed building dedicated to Saint Leonard dating from the early 14th century, and restored in 1872–73. It is built from greenstone, limestone and brick. Inside there is a 15th-century font, and an alabaster monument to Sir Adrian Scrope who died in 1623, attributed to Epiphanius Evesham.South Cockerington Hall was demolished in 1926.In the village were four almshouses which are now a Grade II listed house, dating from about 1890, built in red brick.

Yarburgh is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, and situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) north-east from the town of Louth.The name 'Yarburgh' means 'fortification made of earth'.St John the Baptist's Church in Yarburgh dates from at least the 13th century, although it was rebuilt after a fire in 1405 and restored in 1855. It is now in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust.

Louth Park Abbey was a Cistercian abbey in Lincolnshire, England. It was founded in 1139 by the Bishop Alexander of Lincoln as a daughter-house of Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire.

Keddington is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is 2 miles (3 km) north-east from Louth. Keddington Grade II* listed Anglican parish church is dedicated to St Margaret. The church was restored in 1871–73. It has a 15th-century wooden eagle lectern, and a south door with transom. The eagle lectern is one of only six in England of its kind.Other Grade II listed buildings include the remains of two locks on the disused Louth Canal, four farm houses, a cottage, and the remains of Louth Abbey. A Cistercian house, Louth Abbey was founded in 1139, and was dissolved at suppression in 1536. Still visible are earthworks and ruined chancel walls.

Stewton is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated about 2 miles (3.2 km) east from the town of Louth, in the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The population is included in the civil parish of Keddington. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village is written as "Stivetone", with 19 households, 3 acres of meadow and 5 acres of woodland.The Grade II* listed parish church is dedicated to Saint Andrew and dates from the 11th century, although it was rebuilt in 1866 by James Fowler of Louth. In 1902 the west porch was added.Stewton was the birthplace of William Spavens (1735–99), whose life story 'The Seaman's Narrative' is an important historical source about life in the Royal Navy. In it he describes how he was forced into the Navy by a press gang but later joined a press gang himself.

Covenham Priory was a priory in Covenham St Bartholomew, Lincolnshire, England. The manor, which formed the endowment of the priory of Covenham, was granted in 1082 by William the Conqueror to the abbot and convent of Saint Calais, Le Mans, at the request of the Bishop of Durham a former a monk of that abbey. A small Benedictine priory was built soon after, but it is probable that there were never more than two monks, or perhaps only one to take charge of the estate. By 1303 the cell had become so unprofitable it was sold to the abbot and convent of Kirkstead.

Grimoldy railway station was a station in Grimoldby, Lincolnshire; opened in 1877 by the Louth and East Coast Railway; and closed in 1960.
