Muitzes Kill Historic District

District School No. 3 is a historic one-room school building located at Castleton-on-Hudson in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1870 and is a one-story, rectangular massed, brick building in the Italianate style. It remained in use as a school until 1951. Also on the property is a gable roofed garage (1931), a coal / wood shed, and a stone capped well.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Johannis L. Van Alen Farm is a historic home and farm complex at Stuyvesant in Columbia County, New York, United States. The house was built about 1760 and is typical of Dutch homes built during the period. It is a 1+1⁄2-story brick dwelling with a gambrel roof and chimney at each end. Also on the property are an 18th-century Dutch barn, a corn crib and barn dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, and several additional barns and a chicken/pigeon house from the 19th century.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Schodack Landing Historic District is a national historic district located at Schodack Landing in Rensselaer County, New York. It consists of 86 contributing buildings located in the hamlet of Schodack Landing. The district includes a variety of buildings dated from the 18th through early 20th centuries. They are mostly residential buildings, but include a post office, two churches, a nursing home, a tavern, and a store. There are notable buildings in the Greek Revival and Italianate styles.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Requa House is a historic home located at Stuyvesant in Columbia County, New York. It was built in 1904 and is a 2+1⁄2-story Colonial Revival–style dwelling with two porticoed facades. It is set on a slightly graded lot and features a complex roof configuration, with hipped and gable roof sections, gable dormers, and a balustraded widow's walk. Also on the property is a large barn, a smaller brick barn, and a shed.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Schodack Island State Park (formerly known as Castleton Island State Park) is a 1,052-acre (4.26 km2) state park that spans portions of Rensselaer, Greene, and Columbia counties, New York. The park is located between the Hudson River and Schodack Creek, and was opened in 2002.

The Alfred H. Smith Memorial Bridge is a railroad bridge spanning the Hudson River between Castleton-on-Hudson and Selkirk, New York in the United States. The bridge is owned by CSX Transportation and was originally built for the New York Central Railroad, which was subsequently merged into the Penn Central and then Conrail before being acquired by CSX. The bridge forms part of the Castleton Subdivision of CSX. The bridge is named in honor of Alfred Holland Smith, the president of the New York Central Railroad who authorized the construction of this bridge as part of an extensive project known as the Castleton Cut-Off. He died in a horse-riding accident in Central Park in 1924, prior to the completion of the bridge in that same year. He is sometimes confused with Alfred E. Smith, New York's governor at the time. The bridge has been the southernmost rail freight route across the Hudson River since May 8, 1974, after a fire damaged the Poughkeepsie Bridge, 55 miles (89 km) further south. Rail freight traveling between New York City or Long Island and all points south must take a 280-mile (450 km) detour along the Hudson River and across the bridge, a route known as the Selkirk hurdle. The Cross-Harbor Rail Tunnel project has been proposed as a direct route between Long Island and the US mainland, cutting across New York Harbor.

The Castleton Bridge is a cantilever truss bridge over the Hudson River, connecting Coeymans, Albany County with Schodack, Rensselaer County in New York. It carries the Berkshire Connector of the New York State Thruway. This bridge is also sometimes called the Castleton-on-Hudson Bridge and is situated in close proximity to the Alfred H. Smith Memorial Bridge, which is used by rail traffic. The Castleton Bridge is located on the longest section of the New York State Thruway that does not have an Interstate Highway designation, between interchanges 21A (Interstate 87) and B1 (Interstate 90). There is a $0.60 toll each way to cross this bridge. It is not collected at a separate toll barrier, but is rather collected as part of the Thruway's ticketed toll system. It costs at least $1.05 to cross ($1.00 with an E-ZPass discount), by traveling between Interchange 22 and Interchange B1 on the Thruway. It is the northernmost road bridge on the Hudson River with a toll and is the only bridge with a toll in both directions (collected as part of the Thruway's existing ticketed toll system); every road bridge south of this has an eastbound-only toll. Castleton-on-Hudson is a village located in the southwestern part of the town of Schodack in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 1,473 at the 2010 census. The village is southeast of Albany. As of 2019, Castleton-On-Hudson was recognized as a Tree City USA from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Schodack is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 12,965 at the 2020 census. The town name is derived from the Mahican word, Escotak. The town is in the southwestern part of the county. Schodack is southeast of Albany, New York.

Hannacrois Creek is a 20.9-mile-long (33.6 km) tributary to the Hudson River in the U.S. state of New York. From its source in Westerlo it flows through Dunbar Hollows and over Dickinson Falls to the Alcove Reservoir. It then passes through Coeymans Hollow and just into Greene County to its mouth at the Hudson River in Coeymans, New York. Hannacrois Creek has a drainage area of over 60 square miles (160 km2).Variant names of the creek include Hannacroix Creek, Haanadrois Creek, and Hannekraai, among others. The name translates to the Dutch "Rooster crowing". There is a story that the early Dutch settlers here saw a rooster come floating down the creek on a block of ice, so the creek became known as the Hannekraai, meaning "cock-crowing" creek. The settlement of Hannacroix also took its name from the creek.

Beeren Island (Beeren Eylandt in the original Dutch), also known as Barren Island or Bear Island, is an island in the Hudson River within the town of Coeymans, New York. It lies 11 miles (18 km) south of the city of Albany, and is at the border of four counties, Albany, Greene (to the south), Columbia (to the southeast), and Rensselaer (to the east). Beeren Island was once referred to as Mach-a-wa-meck, which may come from mashq (bear) and wamock (enough), meaning "place of many bears" and would make it in agreement with the Dutch name.

Brookview, New York is a small hamlet located in Schodack, New York and just outside Castleton, New York. Brookview is named for the Moordener Kill that runs through the hamlet. Brookview Road runs from East Greenbush through Brookview and then to Castleton-on-Hudson, New York. The hamlet of Brookview, however, includes only a small portion of Brookview Road. A section of Brookview Road is part of New York State Route 150. Brookview is mostly residential. A train station was located in the hamlet until it was taken down in the mid 20th century.
