Beeren Island (Beeren Eylandt in the original Dutch), also known as Barren Island or Bear Island, is an island in the Hudson River within the town of Coeymans, New York. It lies 11 miles (18 km) south of the city of Albany, and is at the border of four counties, Albany, Greene (to the south), Columbia (to the southeast), and Rensselaer (to the east). Beeren Island was once referred to as Mach-a-wa-meck, which may come from mashq (bear) and wamock (enough), meaning "place of many bears" and would make it in agreement with the Dutch name.

Brigadier General David McCarty Stone Cottage is a historic home located at Coeymans Landing, Albany County, New York. It was built about 1770, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, Colonial period stone dwelling. It measures roughly 20 feet by 40 feet in size and has a moderately pitched gable roof sheathed with 19th century metal shingles. It was the home of General David McCarty, who was an active participant in the events leading up to the American Revolution, served in the Continental Army and held numerous appointments in the post revolutionary era.: 5, 7 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Ariaanje Coeymans House is a historic home located at Coeymans in Albany County, New York. It was built in c.1690 and has a 2- to 3+1⁄2-story main block with a 1- to 2-story wing. It is constructed of stone and brick and has a gambrel roof. Ariaanje Coeymans (1672–1743) was the heiress of a 17th-century flour and saw milling fortune. Her father, Barent Coeymans, held title to the land patent and died in 1710 intestate. Also on the property are the archaeological remains of mills and outbuildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Alexander Willis House is a historic home located at Coeymans Landing in Albany County, New York. It was built about 1852 and is a two-story frame dwelling in a transitional Greek Revival / Gothic Revival style. The rear elevation has a large two-story wing with enclosed porch. It features broad eaves supported by ornate brackets and broad paneled corner boards. The steep gable roof has a central dormer with smaller flanking dormers.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Coeymans School, also known as Acton Civill Polytechnic Institute, is a historic school building located at Coeymans in Albany County, New York. It was built in 1874 and is a rectangular brick building with a mansard roof with slate shingles. It is three stories tall, five bays wide and eleven bays deep. It features an unusual number of cast iron architectural details including the water table, quoins, window labels, balustrade, towers, and chimney. The building was originally built by Acton Civill (1804-1889) to house a polytechnic institute. In 1899, the local board of education purchased the building and used it for instructional purposes until 1963.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

It also includes the New Baltimore Reformed Church and a historic cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
