The Jim Durrell Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose dual-pad arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the south end of the city on Walkley road close to the intersection of Bank street. The Ottawa Jr. Senators of the Central Canada Hockey League are its primary tenant.

It is next door to St. Patrick's High School, a Roman Catholic high school, and Charles Hulse Elementary School, also in the OCDSB.

St. Patrick's High School, located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is a Catholic high school publicly funded under the Ontario school system as part of the Ottawa Catholic School Board. It was founded in 1929 by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Walkley is a bus station on Ottawa's transitway served by OC Transpo buses. It is located in the south-eastern transitway section at Walkley Road in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. There are also plans for mixed-use development all around the station which is vacant. In 2024, a new infill station on the O-Train Trillium Line will open at Walkley.

The Ottawa Central Railway (reporting mark OCRR) was a Canadian short-line railroad subsidiary of the Canadian National Railway. The headquarters were at the Walkley Yard, 3141 Albion Road South, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The OCRR was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Quebec Railway Corporation (QCR). It consisted of former CN subdivisions, and operated between Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, at an interchange with the CN Montreal-Toronto main line, to Ottawa and Pembroke, Ontario. The OCRR started operations on December 13, 1998, and two years later, QRC acquired the assets of Ontario L'Orignal Railway from RailAmerica.The OCRR consisted of 198 km (123 mi) of track and spurs: 156 km (97 mi) of main line between Ottawa and Pembroke, on CN Beachburg Subdivision and 42 km (26 mi) of the former Ontario L’Orignal Railway (OLO) between Glen Robertson and Hawkesbury. It also had 138 km (86 mi) of running rights between Ottawa and Coteau on track owned by Via Rail.Major commodities carried by the OCRR included newsprint, salt, medium-density fibreboard, linerboard, forest products, pulp, gasoline, lumber and board, wire rod, billets and scrap.

Greenboro is a transitway stop and future O-Train Trillium Line (Line 2) station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Bank Street and Johnston Road at the north end of the South Keys shopping complex. The station has a 678-space paid park and ride lot. The bus terminus was opened with the southern transitway on September 2, 1995. From 2001 to 2020, Greenboro served as the southern terminus for the Trillium Line. Upon the line's relaunch in 2023, Greenboro will become a through station, while Limebank station will serve as the line's new terminus. Service to the Uplands (near the EY Centre) and Airport stations will be relocated to the nearby South Keys station, which will connect to these stations with a fare-paid interchange to the Airport Link train.

Nepean-Carleton was a provincial electoral district in eastern Ontario, Canada. It elected one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2014. The riding was represented in the Ontario legislature by Progressive Conservative John Baird since it became a provincial riding in 1999 until he resigned in 2005 to run in the 2006 federal election. PC candidate Lisa MacLeod won the provincial by-election to fill the vacancy that was held on March 30, 2006. Following the 2018 election, the district was dissolved into Nepean, Carleton, Orléans, and Kanata—Carleton.

Heron Gate or Herongate is a neighbourhood in Alta Vista Ward and Gloucester-Southgate Ward in the south end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is defined by the Herongate Tenant Coalition as being bounded on the north by Heron Road, on the west by Heron-Walkley Park and Albion Road, and by the Walkley rail corridor on the south. The total population for this area (excluding the Oak apartments on Albion which are in a different Census block) according to the Canada 2021 Census was 9,974.There are several parks in the neighbourhood, and is served by Ridgemont High School), St. Patrick's High School, St. Patrick Intermediate and Charles Hulse Elementary School for education. The area has train tracks to the south. It is one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods in the city. A number of new developments were completed on the west of the neighbourhood between 2006 and 2008.

Ottawa South (French: Ottawa-Sud) is a federal electoral district in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is represented in the House of Commons of Canada by David McGuinty, brother of former Premier of Ontario and Ottawa South MPP Dalton McGuinty. It has been held continuously by Liberal candidates since it was first contested in 1988, and is regarded as one of the strongest Liberal ridings in Canada. Ottawa South is a suburban, generally middle class riding, notable for having the highest Arab population in Ontario.

Walkley Yard was built in 1955 at a size of 129 acres and 9000 feet in length by the National Capital Commission to relocate the Canadian National Railway yard, to make way for construction of the Queensway. The northerly part was later acquired by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1967, when they moved from LeBreton Flats. An OC Transpo facility was added to the northern portion of the yard in 2001 to allow indoor servicing for the O-Train Trillium Line's diesel-powered fleet. The Canadian National Railway still occupy the southerly portion of the freight yard. Canadian National Railway ran operations out of the Walkley Yard from August 1955 until 1998 when Ottawa Central Railway took over as a short line. The Last Trans-Con freight train ran thru the yard Nov 1995. Shortly after the Beachburg Sub rail was pulled from Pembroke to North Bay. CNR purchased the yard and lines back in 2008 and continues to operate out of the yard for a few remaining customers in the area. The yard is often used for car storage. In 2022, Ottawa city council approved the purchase of the former Canadian Pacific areas of the yard.

South Keys Shopping Centre, officially SmartCentres Ottawa South, is a shopping centre in the South Keys neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is owned and operated by SmartCentres. The power centre is built on 56 acres of land with 486,127 square feet of store space. Walmart serves as the mall's anchor. Eight separate buildings house the centre's 20 stores and services which include supermarkets, restaurants, banks, and a movie theatre. South Keys Shopping Centre was first opened in 1996. The property is bound by Johnston Road to the north, Bank Street to the east, Dazé Street to the south, and the Transitway to the west. SmartCentres notes that there are 50,638 households comprising 71,374 people within a 5km radius of the shopping centre. The average household income within this radius is CA$113,539.OC Transpo's Transitway runs north-south along the back of the shopping centre with Greenboro station serving the mall's north end and South Keys station serving the south end. Greenboro station also features a park and ride and access to the Trillium Line. Stage 2 of the O-Train expansion project will see South Keys station connected with the Trillium Line and the new Airport Link in 2023. The shopping centre has been the location of several minor and major crimes. At around 9:00 a.m. on July 28, 2013, the body of a deceased female was found in the ditch between the Kelsey's parking lot and Bank Street. The following day, she was identified as 28-year-old Melissa Richmond, who had been missing for the previous two weeks. It was Ottawa's seventh homicide of the year. On November 26, 2015, her husband, 53-year-old Howard Richmond, was found guilty of first degree murder. At around 6:30 p.m. on November 23, 2018, a 27-year-old man, Yonis Barkhadle, one of three brothers who were well known to police in the city, was fatally shot in the parking lot at the north end of the mall.Since 2015, the City of Ottawa has been considering redeveloping South Keys Shopping Centre into a mixed-use area.

Guildwood Estates is a sub neighbourhood within the Alta Vista area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It can be broadly described as south of Kilborn Ave., west of the Walkley-Kilborn greenspace, east of Parkland and north of Heron Road. The population of this area according to the Canada 2011 Census was 3,179. However, maps usually show Guildwood Estates as the western section of this area, while the eastern half is the neighbourhood of Urbandale Acres. Guildwood Estates is newer, having mostly been built in the early 1970s, while Urbandale Acres was built in the 1960s. In 1969, residents opposed the construction of what became the Herongate Mall. The Ontario Municipal Board sided with developers Queens Grove Development Limited and construction was allowed to proceed. After 20 years of decline, the traditional indoor shopping mall was thoroughly redeveloped by Trinity Development Group starting in 2013. Nearly all of the existing mall was torn down and new buildings built on a standalone box store model.Included in Guildwood Estates is Featherston Drive Public School, but the area is highlighted by its middle-class housing developed mainly during the 1960s and 1970s. Recent development projects have been completed on Virginia Dr., but with limited space left for new houses there is likely to be little more construction of homes in the near future. This neighbourhood borders Grasshopper Hill Park, City of Ottawa Greenspace, as well as Featherston Park.
