Pooley Hall

Polesworth Vicarage stands adjacent to St Editha's Church in High Street, Polesworth, Warwickshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.The vicarage was rebuilt in about 1870, incorporating parts of an earlier building, the architect being John Douglas of Chester. It is built on the site of the former lodging of the abbess of Polesworth Abbey. The vicarage is constructed in brown brick with some timber framing and tiled roofs; it is in the form of an E-plan. Internally there is an Elizabethan fireplace and some 17th-century panelling.

The built-up area of Polesworth which includes the adjoining village of Dordon to the south, had a population of 9,913 in 2021. The border with Leicestershire is 3 miles (5 km) to the east, while Derbyshire is 6 miles (10 km) to the north. The River Anker runs through the village.

Polesworth railway station serves the village of Polesworth in Warwickshire, England. It is situated on the Trent Valley section of the West Coast Main Line. Since 2005, only the northbound platform has been accessible to passengers due to the removal of the footbridge, and the station has been served only by a parliamentary train service of one northbound train a day. In 2018/19 it was the least used station in Warwickshire and in the West Midlands and the ninth least used station in Great Britain.

Birchmoor is a former coal mining village in the North Warwickshire district of Warwickshire, England. It lies about one mile southwest of Polesworth (where the population details can be found), and 2 miles east of Tamworth, from which it is separated by the M42 motorway and the Staffordshire county boundary. It is generally considered as a district of Polesworth. Birchmoor Colliery (also known as Cockspur Colliery) was opened in 1860 and closed in 1927.

Alvecote Priory is a ruined Benedictine Priory in Alvecote, Warwickshire, England. The site has been scheduled as an ancient monument. Now very little remains of the priory, most of the walls have been eroded but a fairly high wall remains on one side. The main entrance arch is the most impressive feature, still standing at around 20 feet (6.1 m) high. The attached dovecote also survives, however both the ruined priory and dovecot are on the Heritage at Risk Register due to vandalism and water damage.

Shuttington is a village and civil parish in North Warwickshire, England, situated north-east of Tamworth, Staffordshire. In the 2001 census, the parish, which also includes Alvecote, had a population of 563, decreasing to 536 at the 2011 census. The River Anker flows through the parish, with Shuttington north-east of the river, and Alvecote south of it. The West Coast Main Line passes through Alvecote, with the Coventry Canal parallel to it and a marina south of the canal. Most of the parish is rural, including the village of Shuttington, although there was colliery alongside the railway at Alvecote. A series of pools situated along the river, on the boundary with Tamworth, were created as a result of subsidence caused by coal mining in the area. The pools, which attract a wide variety of bird species, have been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The parish church of St. Matthew, situated on the edge of Shuttington village, is a small building, with a nave dating from the 12th century. The Wolferstan Arms pub is on Main Road in the village. There is also the Samuel Barlow pub, situated on the canal at Alvecote.

Dordon is a village and civil parish in the North Warwickshire district of the county of Warwickshire in England and close to the border with Staffordshire. The village is located on the A5 national route and is contiguous with the larger village of Polesworth. Other nearby places include Tamworth, Atherstone, Grendon, Wood End Village, Baddesley Ensor and Nuneaton. In 2001 the population for the parish of Dordon was 3,225, reducing slightly to 3,215 at the 2011 census.

Alvecote is a hamlet in the North Warwickshire district of Warwickshire, England, situated on the county border with Staffordshire. Other settlements nearby are Shuttington (where population details can be found), Polesworth and the Tamworth district of Amington. Central Tamworth is approximately 3 miles west-southwest of Alvecote. Alvecote has a marina on the Coventry Canal with many facilities including boat repair, pumpout and a licensed bar. The West Coast Main Line runs through the settlement. The nearest railway station is Polesworth, though that station now only sees one westbound parliamentary train per day. Alvecote Priory is a ruined 12th century Benedictine monastery. The nearest existing church is in Shuttington.

Alvecote Pools is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and nature reserve situated alongside the River Anker, adjacent to the hamlet of Alvecote on the border of Warwickshire and Staffordshire in England. The majority of the reserve lies in the former county. Consisting of two discrete areas, Pooley Fields and Alvecote Meadows, the site covers 128 ha (320 acres) in total and is the largest SSSI in Warwickshire. First notified in 1955, the site has been owned by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust since 1997. The site is effectively a series of shallow pools alongside the river that have arisen as an effect of colliery subsidence from Alvecote Colliery, which was later merged to form North Warwickshire Colliery and which ceased operation in 1965. In addition to the wetland habitat, there are areas of fen, reedbed and woodland. As a result, the area is regionally important for bird life, and over 100 species are reported annually, with between 60 and 70 breeding. The site is also important for beetles, with 322 species recorded, and spiders (121 species).

Tamworth services is a motorway service station on the M42 motorway near Tamworth Staffordshire, England. The border between Staffordshire and Warwickshire runs through the middle of Tamworth Services. Tamworth Services opened in 1990. It is owned by Moto. The service station is situated off junction 10, and is thus accessible to non-motorway traffic via the A5. Known brands include Greggs, a Marks and Spencer 'Simply Food' store, Burger King, Costa Coffee and WHSmith. There is also a Travelodge motel and a Ladbrokes bookmakers on site, not operated by Moto.
