Valldemossa

The Valldemossa Charterhouse (Catalan: Cartoixa de Valldemossa, Spanish: Cartuja de Valldemosa, translatable as Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa) is a palace in Valldemossa, Mallorca that was royal residence of the king Sancho of Majorca and later Royal Charterhouse (15th century) of the Carthusians.

The prehistoric site of Son Oleza is a prehistoric "Beaker culture" dolmen and associated settlement site on the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is near to the village of Valldemossa on the island's north-west facing coast. The site is named after the nearby place of Son Oleza. The large site, a nearly complete village, has been investigated by Professor Bill Waldren. Significant features include houses, a dolmen and a water supply system. It is believed the site was occupied by several families between circa 2500BC to circa 1300BC.In 1998 it was the subject of episode 5 in series five of the archaeological television programme Time Team (Series 5).

Deià is a municipality and small coastal village in the Serra de Tramuntana, which forms the northern ridge of the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is located about 16 kilometres (10 mi) north of Valldemossa, and it is known for its literary and musical residents. Its idyllic landscape, orange and olive groves on steep cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, served as a draw for German, English, and American expatriates after the First World War. The English poet, novelist, and scholar Robert Graves was one of the first foreigners to settle in the village, where he collaborated with Laura Riding in setting up the Seizin Press. Graves returned after the war and remained in Deià until his death. He used the town as the setting for many of his stories, including the historical novel Hercules my Shipmate. His house is now a museum.Anaïs Nin visited the village in the 1920s, and she wrote a short story set on the village's beach. The Spanish writer, Carme Riera, recently wrote a short story about Nin's. The town is also the unnamed setting of the Uruguayan novelist Cristina Peri Rossi's The Ship of Fools (La nave de los locos). The Nicaraguan poet and novelist, Claribel Alegría, lived in Deià. Anja Rubik married fellow model Sasha Knezevic in this village in July 2011. In recent decades, the stars of literature have been eclipsed by the stars of rock and roll. The Virgin Records mogul Richard Branson has a luxury residence in the town, and his label's stars have often visited the village and sometimes jammed at the local bar, Sa Fonda. Deià was home to several Canterbury-scene musicians over the years, including Kevin Ayers, Robert Wyatt, and Daevid Allen. Mick Jagger, guitarist Mark Knopfler, and Mike Oldfield played there often in the late 1980s, as did Caroline Corr. Much of Fionn Regan's third studio album, 100 Acres of Sycamore was inspired by his time spent in Deià.

The Parc Bit is a science and technology park located in the outskirts of the city of Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Many innovation research centres of enterprises related with tourism are placed here, such as Trivago or Microsoft. It was opened in 2002 and currently around 2,500 employees work there. It is located near the University of the Balearic Islands.

The Serra de Tramuntana (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈsɛrə ðə tɾəmunˈtanə], Spanish: Sierra de Tramontana) is a mountain range running southwest–northeast which forms the northern backbone of the Spanish island of Mallorca. It is also the name given to the comarca of the same area. On 27 June 2011, the Tramuntana Range was awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO as an area of great physical and cultural significance.

The University of the Balearic Islands (Catalan: Universitat de les Illes Balears, UIB; Spanish: Universidad de las Islas Baleares [univəɾsiˈtad də ləz ˈiʎəz βələˈas]) is a Balearic Spanish university, founded in 1978 and located in Palma on the island of Majorca. The university is funded by the autonomous Government of the Balearic Islands.

Parc Bit is a station on line M1 of the Palma Metro in the northern suburbs of the city of Palma de Mallorca on the island of Mallorca, Spain. It was opened on 2 July 2025 as a one-station extension from UIB and serves as the northern terminus of the line. The station is located in the technological park Parc Bit, from which it derives its name. The 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) long extension from UIB, the previous terminus of the line, to Parc Bit science and technology park was agreed in 2019. It was originally due to open in 2020.

Bunyola is a municipality of the island of Mallorca, Spain, located in the spurs of the Serra de Tramuntana, at a distance of 9 miles (14 km) from Palma. The municipality has an area of 32.67 square miles (84.6 km2) and a population of 6,636 inhabitants,INE Instituto Nacional Estadística and the Ferrocarril de Sóller passes through it on the way to Palma. (INE 2018). The municipality of Bunyola is located in the Comarca of Serra de Tramuntana, the Tramuntana Range was awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO as an area of great physical and cultural significance. Bunyola borders with other municipalities of Palma de Mallorca, Marratxí, Santa Maria del Camí, Alaró, Escorca, Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa. Palmayola, Sa Font Seca y Orient are located within the municipality boundaries. Celebration day of the patron saint, San Mateo, is on the 21st of September. The Raixa Estate is located in Bunyola. It is a large Italian style villa surrounded by Pietro Lazzarini-designed gardens, and was used as the filming location for the 1982 film, Evil under the Sun. Once owned by the German designer Jil Sander, it was subsequently purchased by the Island Council of Majorca. It reopened to visitors in late 2018.

UIB is a station on the Palma Metro. It is situated on the south side of the main campus of University of the Balearic Islands (Catalan: Universitat de les Illes Balears, UIB), which is located in northern part of Palma on the island of Majorca, Spain. The station, which was opened 25 April 2007 by Catherine Cirer, mayor of Palma de Mallorca, is the northerly terminus of the line.

The Alfabia Mountains are a mountain range in Majorca located in the municipality of Fornalutx. Water from the Alfabia Mountains nourishes these unique gardens, showcasing a remarkable array of Renaissance and Baroque elements. Notable features include a cistern topped by a semi-circular vault, providing an excellent viewpoint to appreciate the vast landscape, and an expansive pergola adorned with giochi d'acqua (hidden water jets designed to surprise visitors) in traditional Renaissance fashion, leading to the orange grove. Additionally, a 19th-century section boasts a more organic design, complete with a quaint lake teeming with aquatic plants.

Son Sardina is a village and settlement of the city of Palma de Mallorca on the island of Majorca, part of the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, administratively forming part of the city's North District. The settlement can be reached by road via the Ma-11, and has several public transport connections, notably the Son Sardina metro station on the Palma Metro, and the adjacent station on the heritage tramway Tranvía de Sóller. It is also served by EMT bus lines 12 and 27. The settlement contains two schools, CP Maria Antònia Salvà which is a primary school, and IES Son Pacs (formerly known as Instituto Virgen de Lluc) for secondary and sixth form ages. The administrative borders of Son Sardina also include the small settlement of Sa Garriga, situated in the northern extremity of the settlement.
