9th arrondissement of Paris

The Théâtre Saint-Georges is a theatre in the French capital Paris, located on the Rue Saint-Georges from which it takes its name. Designed by the architect Charles Siclis, it was constructed on the site of a former mansion and opened in 1929. Originally it was managed by Camille Choisy, before he handed it over to Benoît-Léon Deutsch who successfully staged Boulevard comedies during the 1930s including Georges Berr and Louis Verneuil's The Train for Venice.

Saint-Georges (French pronunciation: ​[sɛ̃ ʒɔʁʒ]) is a station on Line 12 of the Paris Métro in the 9th arrondissement. The station opened on 8 April 1911 as part of the extension of the Nord-Sud company's line A from Notre-Dame-de-Lorette to Pigalle. On 27 March 1931 line A became line 12 of the Métro. The station is named after the Rue Saint-Georges, which became a street in 1734 and leads to the Place Saint-Georges, created in 1824. It was the centre of an estate created by the speculator Dosne, father-in-law of the politician Adolphe Thiers. It was renovated during the early 2000s in imitation of the style adopted by the Nord-Sud Company, the original architects of the station. In fact, the current decorative style only vaguely resembles the original: the station name is no longer shown on large ceramic tablets (as at Solférino and Abbesses) and does not follow the original colour-coding: the edge of the ceramic name tablets should be brown to designate a non-interchange station, rather than green.

The Fondation Dosne-Thiers is a history library located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris at 27, place St-Georges, Paris, France. It is open to researchers who obtain recommendations from a member of the Institut de France.

The Square d'Orléans (also known as the cité des Trois-Frères), is a residential square in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, at 80, rue Taitbout. The square was designed by the English architect Edward Cresy, and built in 1829 on land that had originally belonged to the family of the musician Daniel Auber. The original entry to the square was at 36, rue Saint-Lazare. The name 'Square d'Orléans' was probably a tribute to Louis Philippe of the Orléans family, who became King of France in 1830. ('Trois-Frères', the alternative name for the square, is the name of a former part of rue Taitbout). The facades of the interior courtyard are decorated by porches with Ionic half-pillars, in a style that is analogous to that of the terraces of Regent's Park, London, (e.g. Cumberland Terrace), designed by John Nash in the 1820s.The Square became a fashionable residence in which many celebrities of the July monarchy period took apartments, including Frédéric Chopin, George Sand, Marie Taglioni, Alexandre Dumas and Charles-Valentin Alkan.

Notre-Dame-de-Lorette (French pronunciation: ​[nɔtʁə dam də lɔʁɛt]) is a station on Line 12 of the Paris Métro in the 9th arrondissement. The station opened on 5 November 1910 as part of the original section of the Nord-Sud company's line A between Porte de Versailles and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. It was the northern terminus of the line until its extension to Pigalle on 8 April 1911. On 27 March 1931 line A became line 12 of the Métro. The station is named after the nearby church Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. The name of the church refers to the Italian city of Loreto and its Chiesa della Casa Santa (Church of the Holy House), a centre of Marianism. The station is located within a short walking distance from Le Peletier station on line 7, but no free transfer is permitted.

The École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode, or ESMOD, is a French private school of fashion. It was founded in Paris in 1841 by Alexis Lavigne. It has branches in Bordeaux, Lyon, Paris, Rennes and Roubaix in France, and in a number of cities in other countries, including Seoul, Moscow, Dubai, and Tokyo

The Musée national Gustave Moreau is an art museum dedicated to the works of Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau (1826–1898). It is located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris at 14, rue de la Rochefoucauld, Paris, France. The museum was originally Moreau's dwelling, transformed by his 1895 decision into a studio and museum of his work with his apartment remaining on the first floor. Today the museum contains Moreau's drawings, paintings, watercolors, and sculptures.

The Church of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette is a neoclassical church in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

The Grand Synagogue of Paris, generally known as Synagogue de la Victoire or Grande Synagogue de la Victoire, is situated at 44, Rue de la Victoire, in the 9th arrondissement. It also serves as the official seat of the chief rabbi of Paris.

Bal Tabarin was the name of a cabaret located at 36, rue Victor-Massé in the 9th arrondissement, Paris, France. It was opened in 1904 by the composer and orchestra leader Auguste Bosc (1868–1945). It was an immediate success. In 1928 Pierre Sandrini (son of the prima ballerina Emma Sandrini and artistic director of the Moulin Rouge) and Pierre Dubout took over the establishment. Sandrini introduced ballet to his floor shows, and dress designs by Erté transformed them into spectacular tableaux. There was a new show every year, each with a theme, such as The Planets or The Symphony; some were inspired by historical figures such as Cleopatra and Madame de Pompadour.During the occupation of Paris it was frequented by German officers. At this time the South African dancer Florence Waren performed there. Unknown to the Germans, she was Jewish, but she was still interned for several months as an enemy alien. On her release she returned to the Bal Tabarin and paired up with Frederic Apcar to form the dancing duo "Florence et Frederic". They became famous, appearing on stage with the likes of Edith Piaf and Maurice Chevalier, while Waren at the same time aided the French Resistance.After the war Bal Tabarin was taken over by the proprietors of the Moulin Rouge, who closed it in 1953.

Chez Moune is a Parisian nightclub that originally opened as Le Fetiche in 1936 in the Place Pigalle. It has been described as the first lesbian club with dancing and cabaret in Europe. Since the late 1980s, it has been a nightclub for mixed clientele.

The Laboratoire français de gemmologie (gemological laboratory of France) is the oldest gemological laboratory in the world, having been founded in 1929 by a customs official. It was run by the Paris Chamber of Commerce from 1933 to 2011, when it was attached to the Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres et des Perles (BJOP). It operates completely independently as a source of expertise in gemology for clients' information and security, and has a partnership with the University of Nantes. Its director since 2011 has been Olivier Segura.
