Fowlmere

South Cambridgeshire was a rural district in Cambridgeshire, England established in 1934 under a County Review Order as a merger of Linton Rural District and Melbourn Rural District and part of Caxton and Arrington Rural District. In 1965 it became part of the new administrative county of Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Ely. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and merged with the Chesterton Rural District to form a new South Cambridgeshire district.

Fowlmere Airfield (ICAO: EGMA) is a small airfield located 4.2 miles (6.8 km) northeast of Royston, Hertfordshire and 8.8 miles (14.2 km) southwest of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. It was previously a Royal Air Force satellite station, RAF Fowlmere.

Thriplow Meadows is a 3.5-hectare (8.6-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Thriplow in Cambridgeshire.The site has two fields with neutral pastures which range from dry to marshy. These lowland habitats are now rare, and the wetter areas have many uncommon plants. Wetland herbs include ragged robin, fleabane and purple loosestrife.There is access from School Lane.

Thriplow () is a village in the civil parish of Thriplow and Heathfield, in Cambridgeshire, England, 8 miles (13 km) south of Cambridge. The village also gives its name to a former Cambridgeshire hundred.

Flint Cross is a hamlet and crossroads in South Cambridgeshire, in the English county of Cambridgeshire. It is in the south of the district, where the east–west A505 road meets the B1368 road, which leads north to Fowlmere and south to Barley, Hertfordshire. In both main definitions of parish, in England, it is in Melbourn.

Fowlmere is a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds nature reserve between Fowlmere and Melbourn in Cambridgeshire. It is designated a 39.9-hectare (99-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest called Fowlmere Watercress Beds.Fowlmere's reedbeds and pools are fed by natural chalk springs and a chalk stream runs through the reserve. It has three hides, two of which are wheelchair-accessible. Special birds include kingfishers, water rails, sedge warblers, reed warblers and grasshopper warblers plus a roost of corn buntings in winter.

Heydon is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. The parish of Heydon was transferred from Essex to Cambridgeshire in 1894. The area of the parish is 862 hectares (2,130 acres). It is situated on one of the highest places in Cambridgeshire, with the nearby village of Great Chishill being the very highest. Heydon has the King William IV as its only pub. The village also has the Wood Green Animal Shelter Small Animals Rescue Home. And on the edge of Heydon it has its own golf course, Heydon Grange Golf Club, consisting of an 18-hole and 9-hole golf course with driving range. Holy Trinity church, in the centre of the village, was seriously damaged in a bombing raid in 1940. The south arcade was undamaged as was the chancel (which is from 1866) but the north aisle and the nave were entirely rebuilt. Holy Trinity is part of the parish of the Icknield Way together with the Chishills, Chrishall, Elmdon with Wenden Lofts and Strethall churches. The Anglo-Saxon earthwork Bran Ditch rises in Heydon and runs to Fowlmere. The Icknield Way Path passes through the village on its 110-mile journey from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk. The Icknield Way Trail, a multi-user route for walkers, horse riders and off-road cyclists, also passes close to the village.

Foxton is a small village in South Cambridgeshire, England. It has a number of well-preserved fifteenth- and sixteenth-century houses, and a thirteenth-century church dedicated to St Laurence.

Thriplow Peat Holes is a 12.2-hectare (30-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Thriplow in Cambridgeshire.The site has rare alder carr and fen habitats which have a wide variety of invertebrates, which is enhanced by ditches and ponds. The main vegetation is alder, ash, willow and guelder rose.The site is private land with no public access.

Foxton railway station serves the village of Foxton in Cambridgeshire, England. It is 50 miles 77 chains (50.96 miles, 82.02 km) from London King's Cross. The station is operated by Great Northern. It is located adjacent to the busy A10 level crossing, which is monitored from the nearby signal box. A freight-only branch (the Barrington Light Railway) diverges to the west beyond the crossing south of the station, serving the nearby Barrington cement works & quarry.

Rowley's Hill is a hill in Cambridgeshire, near the villages of Harston and Newton. Although of only moderate height (50 m/164 ft), it has a relatively large prominence due to it being surrounded on all sides by a 'moat' of much lower land. It therefore stands separate from the other hills in the region and has a distinctive appearance. The hill has a north east top, St Margaret's Mount (52.1362°N 0.1056°E / 52.1362; 0.1056), on top of which is an obelisk. It is a memorial to Gregory Wale, of Little Shelford, of the eighteenth century.
