Odd Fellows Hall (Gonzales, California)

Community Church of Gonzales is a historic Gothic Revival church building at 301 4th Street in Gonzales, California, United States. It was built 1883–1884 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is one of Monterey County's oldest functioning churches, a prominent Carpenter Gothic church exemplifying a type common to late-19th-century small California towns. It is currently a church of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Gonzales is a city in Monterey County, California, United States. Gonzales is located 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Salinas, at an elevation of 135 feet (41 m). The population was 8,647 at the 2020 census, up from 8,187 at the 2010 census. Gonzales is a member of the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments. Gonzales won the Culture of Health Prize from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2019.

Rancho Rincon de la Puente del Monte was a 15,219-acre (61.59 km2) Mexican land grant in the Salinas Valley, in present-day Monterey County, California given in 1836 by Governor Nicolás Gutiérrez to Teodoro Gonzalez. The grant extended along the north bank of the Salinas River, across from Francisco Lugo's Rancho Paraje de Sanchez, and encompassed present day Gonzales

Fog's End Distillery is one of the first pioneers in California's craft distilling movement. The distillery is located in Gonzales, California. The distillery produces a range of Craft spirits, under the direction of Head Distiller Henry Wales, and Steven Wales. Fog's End is known for producing award-winning small batch runs of Moonshine, Rum, and Gin.

Rancho Paraje de Sanchez (also called "Rancho Punta del Monte") was a 6,584-acre (26.64 km2) Mexican land grant in the Salinas Valley, in present day Monterey County, California. It was given in 1839 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Francisco Lugo.The grant extended between the Sierra de Salinas (mountains) and the south bank of the Salinas River, across from the Rancho Rincon de la Puente del Monte of Teodoro Gonzalez.

Rancho Zanjones was a 6,714-acre (27.17 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Monterey County, California given in 1839 by Governor pro tem Manuel Jimeno to Gabriel de la Torre. The grant extended along the north bank of the Salinas River east of present day Chualar.

Gabilan (Spanish: Gabilán, meaning "Sparrow hawk") was a former settlement in Monterey County, California. It was located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Gonzales, at an elevation of 112 feet (34 m), and was situated in the foothills of the Gabilan Range. In Spanish, gavilán (gabilán is an older spelling) means "sparrow hawk". Hawks, especially the red-tailed hawk, are common in the area. A post office operated at Gabilan (having been transferred from Alisal) from 1869 to 1883, and from 1898 to 1900.

Correctional Training Facility (CTF), commonly referenced as Soledad State Prison, is a state prison located on U.S. Route 101, 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Soledad, California, adjacent to Salinas Valley State Prison.

The River Road Wine Trail is a Salinas Valley wine-tasting route following River Road (County Route G17) along the western banks of the Salinas River. It is not to be misidentified with the Great River Road that traverses along the banks of the Mississippi River through multiple states. The road also designates the eastern boundary of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA and accesses many of the resident wineries contributing to local enotourism business. Due to its popularity, it is notably referenced in numerous books and magazines.

Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) is a 300-acre (120 ha) California state prison located 5 miles (8 km) north of Soledad, in Monterey County, California, adjacent to the Correctional Training Facility (aka Soledad State Prison).

The Chualar bus crash took place on September 17, 1963, when a freight train collided with a makeshift "bus"— a flatbed truck with two long benches and a canopy— carrying 58 migrant farmworkers on a railroad crossing outside Chualar in the Salinas Valley, California, United States, killing 32 people and injuring 25. Because the vehicle was actually a truck carrying people in the back, rather than a bus, the crash is ranked as the deadliest automobile accident in U.S. history, according to the National Safety Council.The collision was a factor in the decision by Congress in 1964 to terminate the bracero program, despite its strong support among farmers. It also helped spur the Chicano Civil Rights Movement.
