Workers Leaving The Lumière Factory in Lyon (French: La Sortie de l'Usine Lumière à Lyon), also known as Employees Leaving the Lumière Factory and Exiting the Factory, is an 1895 French short black-and-white silent documentary film directed and produced by Louis Lumière. It is often referred to as the first real motion picture ever made, although Louis Le Prince's 1888 Roundhay Garden Scene pre-dated it by six and a half years.

Place Ambroise-Courtois is a square in the neighborhood of Monplaisir in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. It was named after Ambroise Courtois, a city councillor, on 30 October 1944, months after Courtois was assassinated by the Milice française. It had been previously named Place de Monplaisir. The square is bordered by Avenue des Frères-Lumière to the south and Cours Albert-Thomas to the north.

Monplaisir is a historical district (quarter) of Lyon, France, now situated in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. It is centered on the Ambroise Courtois Square, formerly the Monplaisir Square.In the southeast of the 8th arrondissement there is the Monplaisir-la-Plaine quarter, or simply La-Plaine. La Martinière Lyon is the La Martinière College branch in Lyon, France. Lyon hosts three La Martinière colleges, which were all created by Claude Martin: La Martinière Monplaisir, La Martinière Duchère, and La Martinière Terreaux. The Lumière brothers, two of the first filmmakers, attended La Martinière.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC; French: Centre International de Recherche sur le Cancer, CIRC) is an intergovernmental agency forming part of the World Health Organization of the United Nations. Its role is to conduct and coordinate research into the causes of cancer. It also collects and publishes surveillance data regarding the occurrence of cancer worldwide.Its IARC monographs programme identifies carcinogenic hazards and evaluates environmental causes of cancer in humans.IARC has its own governing council, and in 1965 the first members were the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Today, IARC's membership has grown to 27 countries.

Le Bachut is a quarter in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. It is bisected the avenue Berthelot and rue Marius Berliet. Served by the tram, it is connected to the Presqu'île, to the Hôpital Édouard-Herriot and the university campus of Bron. In May 2007, the library of Bachut called Médiathèque Marguerite Duras was inaugurated, at the Place du 11 November 1918. The Maison de la danse of Lyon is in the quarter.

Montluc prison (French pronunciation: ​[mɔ̃lyk]) is a former prison located on rue Jeanne Hachette in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It was known for being an internment, torture and killing place by the Gestapo during the occupation of France by the Nazis.

Fort Montluc, also known as Fort de Villeurbanne, is a fort located in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon. The fort was built in 1831 as part of the Ceintures de Lyon, which were a series of fortifications surrounding Lyon. It is currently used as a metropolitan police station.

The Jean Moulin University Lyon 3 (French: Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), also referred to as Lyon 3, is one of the three public universities of Lyon, France. It is named after the French Resistance fighter Jean Moulin and specialises in Law, Politics, Philosophy, Management and languages. It is under the purview of the Academy of Lyon. A total of 27,000 students study there for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The university is a member of the University of Lyon, the Coimbra Group and the European University Association (EUA).

The IAE Lyon Institut d'Administration des Entreprises (Institute of Business Administration), is the school of Management of the Jean Moulin University Lyon3. Its main campus is located in the historical complex of the “Manufacture des Tabacs” in the heart of Lyon, France. Founded in 1956 the IAE Lyon has 7,800 students in 2018 (including 3000 in postgraduate studies), accounting for 27% of the 29,000 students at Lyon 3 University. In addition to the 165 full-time professors at the IAE, 700 executives from private, external companies contribute to the education. The various courses offered in 2018 include seven bachelor's degrees (Licence), twelve professional bachelor's degrees (Licence professionnelles), thirteen master's degrees (with 58 specializations), one Executive MBA, Executive DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) and PhD. The school is highly internationalized with a network of 159 partner Universities and Schools spread over 50 countries to offer opportunities in student and academic mobility, to develop double-degrees and offshore programs.

The African Museum of Lyon (French: Musée Africain de Lyon) is the oldest museum in France dedicated to Africa, and one of the oldest museums in Lyon. The collections specialise in West African objects.The museum was created in 1861 by the Society of African Missions under the influence of Melchior de Marion Brésillac. After his death, Augustin Planque took over his role and asked the missionaries of the Society to send to France items reflecting the everyday, social and religious life of Africa. In 1998, the museum began the refurbishment and restoration of its building, which was formally reopened on 28 January 2001. The museum is situated at 150, Cours Gambetta, Lyon. The building now provides 750m² for the display of the permanent collection, comprising 2,126 African objects. Exhibits are divided into three categories: Everyday Life, Social Life, and Religious Life. There is also a room reserved for temporary exhibitions.
