Chantry, Suffolk

St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church is a Catholic church on the Chantry Estate in Ipswich. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia. It opened in May 1959.Prior to the establishment of St. Mark's, the area was within the parish of St Pancras Church, Ipswich. Initially it was served by the Franciscans at East Bergholt, who also ministered at Brantham. Around 1973 most of the friars moved from East Bergholt to Canterbury, while a few set up small friary at Ipswich. The Franciscans withdrew in 1994.There is also a Roman Catholic Primary School attached to the parish, also called St Mark's, which opened in 1967. In 2018, St. Mark's School won the Suffolk Junior Schools Mock Trial Competition.The Catholic Church of the Holy Family in the village of Brantham is served from St Mark’s.

The South West Area, Ipswich is one of five administrative areas in Ipswich, through which Ipswich Borough Council divides its spending and enables feedback from local residents, businesses and community groups.The area is composed of four wards, each represented by three councillors. Chantry Academy (formerly Suffolk New Academy and Chantry High School) is a secondary school with academy status in the Chantry area of Ipswich in the English county of Suffolk. The school educates children aged 11 to 16 and has around 750 pupils. The current principal, Craig D'Cunha, took up the post in February 2015.In 2018, the academy received a 'good' Ofsted inspection rating.

The Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich, Suffolk is a building of historical significance. It was originally a 16th-century hunting lodge but was used later as a family residence. The property was then converted to a hotel which now provides accommodation and restaurant facilities. It also caters for special events particularly weddings. The Cinema Museum in London holds home movie footage of the Hotel in about 1962.

Chantry Park is a park located west of Ipswich town centre, in the Ipswich district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It is the largest park in Ipswich and extends over 124 acres. Chantry Park was opened to the public on 17 May 1928 and was designated a Conservation Area in 2005.Chantry Park itself is Grade II listed park, and it contains three Grade II listed structures: The Chantry and the gate house and entrance gatepiers (which share a listing).

St Joseph's College is a co-educational private school for day and boarding pupils between the ages of 2 and 19 in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Stoke Park was a country estate located to the South West of Ipswich. It is now a residential area and gave its name to Stoke Park ward located in the South West Area of Ipswich, in the English county of Suffolk.

Stoke Park Wood is a 2.2 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Ipswich Borough Council.This ancient wood was formerly part of the Stoke Park estate, and it still has the remains of a Victorian drainage system. It was formerly called Fishpond Covert as it had a large fishpond. It is a mixed woodland with grass trails and glades.There is access from Stoke Park Drive.

Gippeswyk Park is a park in the South West of Ipswich in England. It was bequeathed to Ipswich by the MP Felix Cobbold. The park is located very close to the train station and the park's primary use is for recreation and includes numerous football pitches as well as two tennis courts which are always popular during the summer months.

Achilles Football Club is a football club based in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. The club are currently members of the Suffolk & Ipswich League Senior Division and play at Pauls Social Club.

Bobbits Lane is a 16.1 hectares (40 acres) Local Nature Reserve in Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Ipswich Borough Council and managed by the Greenways Countryside Project.In the reserve, grassy paths run through wet meadows. Fauna include otters, water voles, kingfishers, egrets and toads.There is access to the site from Stoke Park Drive.

Spring Wood is a 5.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve east of Belstead, on the southern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Ipswich Borough Council.This ancient oak and hornbeam wood has an understorey of hazel. There are small-leaved limes in groups several metres in diameter, which are genetically one tree, as a result of coppicing decades ago.There is access from the neighbouring Millennium Wood and by a footpath from Bobbits Lane.
