Stoke Park Wood

Stoke Park was a country estate located to the South West of Ipswich. It is now a residential area and gave its name to Stoke Park ward located in the South West Area of Ipswich, in the English county of Suffolk.

Bobbitshole is a 1.7-hectare (4.2-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Belstead, on the southern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This is the type locality for the warm Ipswichian interglacial around 130,000 to 115,000 year ago. It has yielded continuous deposits from the end of the preceding Wolstonian cold stage to the end of the Ipswichian. It is described by Natural England as a "nationally important Pleistocene reference site".This site is private land with no public access. It has been filled in and no geology is visible.

Bourne Park Reed Beds is a 7.4 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the southern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk, United Kingdom. It is owned and managed by Ipswich Borough Council.This nature reserve in Bourne Park is a linear area of reed beds, scrub woodland and tall herb fen, along the north bank of Belstead Brook.

Bobbits Lane is a 16.1 hectares (40 acres) Local Nature Reserve in Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Ipswich Borough Council and managed by the Greenways Countryside Project.In the reserve, grassy paths run through wet meadows. Fauna include otters, water voles, kingfishers, egrets and toads.There is access to the site from Stoke Park Drive.

The Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich, Suffolk is a building of historical significance. It was originally a 16th-century hunting lodge but was used later as a family residence. The property was then converted to a hotel which now provides accommodation and restaurant facilities. It also caters for special events particularly weddings. The Cinema Museum in London holds home movie footage of the Hotel in about 1962.

St Joseph's College is a co-educational private school for day and boarding pupils between the ages of 2 and 19 in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. With usually 550-600 pupils on the roll, the College is located in South West Ipswich, surrounded by a 60-acre campus, which includes administrative offices in the Georgian Birkfield House, a nursery and Prep School, the College Chapel, and teaching and sports facilities. Spring Wood is a 5.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve east of Belstead, on the southern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Ipswich Borough Council.This ancient oak and hornbeam wood has an understorey of hazel. There are small-leaved limes in groups several metres in diameter, which are genetically one tree, as a result of coppicing decades ago.There is access from the neighbouring Millennium Wood and by a footpath from Bobbits Lane.

Millennium Wood is a 3.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the southern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Suffolk County Council and managed by the Greenways Countryside Project.New saplings have been planted on the edge of this ancient, semi-natural wood of hornbeam and coppiced lime. There are many flowers in the spring such as bluebells, wild garlic and archangel.There is access from Bobbits Lane.

The South West Area, Ipswich is one of five administrative areas in Ipswich, through which Ipswich Borough Council divides its spending and enables feedback from local residents, businesses and community groups.The area is composed of four wards, each represented by three councillors. Each ward is also a Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA). Chantry Academy (formerly Suffolk New Academy and Chantry High School) is a secondary school with academy status in the Chantry area of Ipswich in the English county of Suffolk. The school educates children aged 11 to 16 and has around 750 pupils. The current principal, Craig D'Cunha, took up the post in February 2015.In 2018, the academy received a 'good' Ofsted inspection rating.

Goldrood House is a Grade II listed building in Chantry, Ipswich, Suffolk, England. The building is currently part of St Joseph's College. The building was built in 1809 and bought by for Samuel Alexander in 1811. It is a two-storey white brick house. It has a large 3 windowed bow on the south eastern front. It was the home of the Quaker banker Dykes Alexander.

Wherstead is a village and a civil parish located in the county of Suffolk, England. Wherstead village lies 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Ipswich on the Shotley peninsula. It is in the Belstead Brook electoral division of Suffolk County Council.It is an ancient settlement, and from its soil the plough has brought to light many evidences of occupation by Romans and by early Britons. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the place is described under the Old English names Querstede and Wervesteda. Toponymic surnames which originate from Wherstead include Quested and Quersted. The name of the village and parish is in today generally pronounced Wersted or Warsted by the residents, the "a" in the latter case having the sound of "a" in father. Wherstead Park Mansion is a notable historic house which has been converted to a wedding venue. A short ride by train through Ipswich carries passengers to Bourne Bridge, which marks the boundary of Wherstead parish. Near the bridge, on the Wherstead side, stands the Ostrich Inn, as it stood at the time of the New England migration. At that time, oysters were abundant in the River Orwell, and some speculate that Ostrich was a corruption from 'Oyster Ridge' or 'Oyster Reach'. However the pub name is more likely to derive from the crest of lawyer and Chief Justice, Sir Edward Coke, who acquired the surrounding estate in 1609, and the pub sign is similar to others across East Anglia.
