Lourdes Mount College of Engineering & Technology (Tamil: லூர்துஸ் மவுண்ட் பொறியியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப கல்லூரி) is a self-financing engineering college set up by the Chellammal Educational Trust in 2013 and located close to Marthandam on a scenic, peaceful and green environment near the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The college is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

Killiyur is an assembly constituency located in Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha constituency in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu. For train transportation the Marthandam is the main hub for Kalkulam and Vilavancode talukas. The Kalkulam and Vilavancode talukas have the population around seven lakes. The Kuzhithurai station is found to be centered between Trivandrum–Kanniyakumari railway route. This railway station collection is more than seven crore per annum and a daily passenger patronage of more than 50,000 people. The station has two platforms and falls on the Kanniyakumari–Trivandrum line in the Trivandrum division of the Southern Railway zone. Marthandam CSI Church is one of the largest district churches in the Kanyakumari diocese in India. It has the privilege of being the center of various services connected with the Diocese, such as schools, colleges, hospitals, an embroidery industry, a book depot, a press and also a shopping complex.The church was built by Rev. Robert Sinclair. Sinclair was born in Scotland and came to India after his ordination as a minister on 3 August 1910. He succeeded Rev. H.I Hacker in 1919, and came to Marthandam in 1920. Rev. Sinclair served from 1919 to 1939.On 26 July 1924, the foundation stone was laid by Rev. C.G. Marshall. It took ten years to complete the construction work and Rev. Sinclair personally labored with devotion to fulfill his vision. His dream was to make a beautiful place of worship for the emerging congregation in Marthandam. The church was completed and dedicated on 13 May 1933.

Marthandam is a major trade centre in Kuzhithurai municipality across National Highway (NH 47) in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, India. Formerly known as Thoduvetty (another name for the Marthandam market region), it was a portion of Kanyakumari district which was added to the state of Tamil Nadu on 1 November 1956. Marthandam is the second largest town in the district. It derived its name from the founder and ruler of Travancore, Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma. Marthandam is famous for honey, cashew nut processing, rubber and hand-embroidered motifs. The area is among the most fertile lands of Tamil Nadu with substantial vegetation, and a river adjoining. It is also a major trade center due to its location bordering Kerala.
