Vellicode is a village located in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, India on National Highway 47 approximately 47 km south of Trivandrum. Vellicode is a village which lies on the Trivandrum Kanyakumari Highway. It is one of the oldest inhibited places in the area. Prior to formation of United Travancore during the 17 Century, the region was known as Idai Nadu and were ruled by local chieftains. Today the inhabitants of the village are 99% Roman Catholic. The Nizhal thangal, Attoor is one among the few renowned Worship centers of Ayyavazhi in the western Kanyakumari. It is also the second Thangal built in the Thamarai Thangal series only after the Nizhal Thangal of Nelli-ninra Vilai, and the first ever Temple built with the Sahasrara architecture.It is located at Attoor near Thiruvattar in SH-90, 5 km North-east of Marthandam and 25 km North-west of Nagercoil, midway between Marthandam and Kulasekaram. Though this Thangal was built in 1988, the new structure with Sahasrara architecture was built recently. The foundation stone for the new structure was laid in 2005 by Bala Prajapathi Adikalar and was inaugurated by him on 23 April 2007.

Marthandam CSI Church is one of the largest district churches in the Kanyakumari diocese in India. It has the privilege of being the center of various services connected with the Diocese, such as schools, colleges, hospitals, an embroidery industry, a book depot, a press and also a shopping complex.The church was built by Rev. Robert Sinclair. Sinclair was born in Scotland and came to India after his ordination as a minister on 3 August 1910. He succeeded Rev. H.I Hacker in 1919, and came to Marthandam in 1920. Rev. Sinclair served from 1919 to 1939.On 26 July 1924, the foundation stone was laid by Rev. C.G. Marshall. It took ten years to complete the construction work and Rev. Sinclair personally labored with devotion to fulfill his vision. His dream was to make a beautiful place of worship for the emerging congregation in Marthandam. The church was completed and dedicated on 13 May 1933.

The Nizhal thangal of Nelli-ninra Vilai is one among the few important Worship centers of Ayyavazhi in the western Kanyakumari. It is also the first Thangal built in the Thamarai Thangal series. It was situated mid-way in the Attoor Arumanai road, 4 km North-east of Marthandam, and 26 km North-west of Nagercoil. Though this Thangal was originally built in 1882, the new structure with Lotus architecture was recently constructed. The foundation stone was laid on 2004 and was inaugurated by Bala Prajapathi Adikalar in April 2006.
