Marthandam CSI Church is one of the largest district churches in the Kanyakumari diocese in India. It has the privilege of being the center of various services connected with the Diocese, such as schools, colleges, hospitals, an embroidery industry, a book depot, a press and also a shopping complex.The church was built by Rev. Robert Sinclair. Sinclair was born in Scotland and came to India after his ordination as a minister on 3 August 1910. He succeeded Rev. H.I Hacker in 1919, and came to Marthandam in 1920. Rev. Sinclair served from 1919 to 1939.On 26 July 1924, the foundation stone was laid by Rev. C.G. Marshall. It took ten years to complete the construction work and Rev. Sinclair personally labored with devotion to fulfill his vision. His dream was to make a beautiful place of worship for the emerging congregation in Marthandam. The church was completed and dedicated on 13 May 1933.

Kuzhithurai railway station (Station code: KZT) is the second-biggest station in Kanyakumari district (NSG 5 Category). For train transportation the Marthandam is the main hub for Kalkulam and Vilavancode talukas. The Kalkulam and Vilavancode talukas have the population around seven lakes. The Kuzhithurai station is found to be centered between Trivandrum–Kanniyakumari railway route. This railway station collection is more than seven crore per annum and a daily passenger patronage of more than 50,000 people. The station has two platforms and falls on the Kanniyakumari–Trivandrum line in the Trivandrum division of the Southern Railway zone. Karavilai is a place in Marthandam in Kanniyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Karavilai comes under town panchayat of Nallur (Nalloor), Kanyakumari District. The area is full of greenery and there is passage of shallow of water in the region. Soil found around Marthandam is one of the most fertile lands of Tamil Nadu and the region has the climatic conditions of Kerala. Tamil is the official language of this region however, most of the people understand Malayalam since it is located neighbouring Kerala.

It is part of territory among several taluks that were with the Thiruvananthapuram district that with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act of 1956 transferred from Thiruvananthapuram district, Travancore-Cochin State to the newly created Kanyakumari district of Madras State (the latter later renamed as Tamil Nadu State).

The Chitharal Jain Monuments and Bhagavati Temple, also known as Chitharal Malai Kovil (literally "Temple on the Hill"), Chitaral Cave Temple or Bhagavati Temple, are located near Chitharal village in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India. They consist of stone beds with inscriptions, and two monuments – one rock cut Jain temple with outer wall reliefs and one Hindu goddess temple next to it that is a combination of rock-cut and stone that was added during the reign of Vikramaditya Varaguna Pandya. The monuments are from the 9th century CE.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kuzhithura is a diocese located in Tamil Nadu. It was erected on 22 December 2014 by Pope Francis with territory taken from the Diocese of Kottar. He appointed Fr. Jerome Dhas Varuvel as the first bishop of the diocese.Due to health reasons Bishop Jerome submitted his resignation to Pope Francis which was accepted on 6 June 2020. Simultaneously, Pope Francis appointed the Metropolitan Archbishop of Madurai, Antony Pappusamy, as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese of Kuzhithura.Bifurcation of the diocese of Kottar had been a long-standing demand of the people of the region. 100 Parishes from Thiruthuvapuram and Mulagumoodu vicariates of Kottar diocese were put under the administrative control of Kuzhithurai diocese. Prior to this bifurcation, Kottar diocese had been one of the largest in India with over 500000 Catholics.

Thirunattalam, also called Nattalam, is a Panchayat town in Kanyakumari district in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. It is located 4 km (2.5 mi) from Marthandam, 6 km (3.7 mi) from Karungal and 10 km (6.2 mi) from Thuckalay.

The Nizhal thangal of Nelli-ninra Vilai is one among the few important Worship centers of Ayyavazhi in the western Kanyakumari. It is also the first Thangal built in the Thamarai Thangal series. It was situated mid-way in the Attoor Arumanai road, 4 km North-east of Marthandam, and 26 km North-west of Nagercoil. Though this Thangal was originally built in 1882, the new structure with Lotus architecture was recently constructed. The foundation stone was laid on 2004 and was inaugurated by Bala Prajapathi Adikalar in April 2006.
