Woodkirk Priory

Woodkirk railway station was a Great Northern Railway (GNR) station on the Batley to Beeston line, which connected Batley to Leeds Central, in West Yorkshire, England. The station opened in July 1890 and was closed in September 1939 to passengers, but the line stayed open until 1964. The station was 1.75 miles (2.82 km) north of Batley railway station, and 6.75 miles (10.86 km) south of Leeds Central railway station.

Tingley is a suburban village in the City of Leeds in West Yorkshire, Northern England, forming part of the parish of West Ardsley. Tingley forms part of the Heavy Woollen District. It is situated between the cities of Leeds and Wakefield. Most of Tingley sits in the Ardsley and Robin Hood ward of Leeds City Council, whilst west Tingley forms part of Morley South ward. Both wards make up the western half of the Morley and Outwood parliamentary constituency.

Woodkirk Academy (formerly Woodkirk High School) is an academy located in Tingley, West Yorkshire, England. Established in 1948, the school now has over 1,800 pupils on roll, over 300 sixth form students and over 250 members of staff. Following Woodkirk gaining ‘Specialist Science Status', the school was briefly renamed Woodkirk High Specialist Science School from 2003 to 2011. The current principal is Tim Jones, who replaced Jo Barton in 2021. Prior to Barton, Jonathan White held the position for over 10 years. White succeeded previous headteacher Bill Bailey in 2005.

Woodkirk is an ancient village between Leeds and Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. The parish church is a grade II listed building. It is traditionally the centre of the parish of West Ardsley, but Tingley is now a much larger settlement. Woodkirk was part of the Ardsley urban district 1894–1937, which also included West Ardsley and East Ardsley and was then part of Morley municipal borough 1937–1974. The village once formed part of the former municipal borough of Morley, and is still classed as part of Morley in the census. Woodkirk is in the Leeds City Council ward, Morley South, each electing three councillors to Leeds City Council. It is in the Morley and Outwood parliamentary constituency. Since 2019 Woodkirk has been within the civil parish of Morley, governed by Morley Town Council. Woodkirk is just within the boundaries of the City of Leeds although Woodkirk Post Office is in Kirklees. Woodkirk contains a high school and sixth form: Woodkirk Academy. The school opened in the late 1940s and had over 1,800 students at itslast full Ofsted inspection in 2013 (in which it was rated as being Good).The Leeds Country Way passes through the churchyard.

Beggarington Hill is a hamlet in the county of West Yorkshire, England, in the City of Leeds and at the border of Kirklees. Historically, it was part of the West Ardsley civil parish. It is located immediately southwest of West Ardsley near the town of Batley, between Baghill Beck in the north and Hey Beck in the south. The A653 road runs approximately 0.6 miles (1.0 km) west of the settlement. Nearby Woodkirk Mill, a corn mill, had fallen into disuse by 1930.

Morley Tunnel is a railway tunnel in West Yorkshire, England, situated between Morley and Batley railway stations on the Huddersfield line. From its northern end (53.7490°N 1.5927°W / 53.7490; -1.5927), it extends 3,369 yards (3,081 m), passing beneath Morley town centre, to its southern end (53.7260°N 1.6192°W / 53.7260; -1.6192).

The Morley Academy is a mixed secondary school located in Morley, West Yorkshire, England.The school forms part of the Gorse Academies Trust which also includes The Farnley Academy, The Ruth Gorse Academy and the Elliott Hudson College.

Howley Hall is a ruined Elizabethan country house located between the towns of Batley and Morley in West Yorkshire, England. It has been designated a scheduled monument since 1997.The hall was built by Sir John Savile, a Yorkshire politician and courtier, at the end of the 16th century. It remained in the hands of the Savile family until 1671, and was the site of fighting during the English Civil War in 1643. Subsequently it passed into the hands of the Brudenell family, under whose ownership the hall deteriorated and was eventually demolished between 1717 and 1730.

Gawthorpe is a village to the north of Ossett, in the Wakefield district, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is roughly midway between Wakefield and Dewsbury north of the A638. Gawthorpe's name derives from Gorky, a Viking name, and thorpe was a settlement, but evidence suggests the village may have Roman origins. Gawthorpe's Mayday celebrations date back to at least 1875 when a seventy-foot fir tree was bought and erected by public subscription on the village green. The maypole was last replaced in 1986.Gawthorpe Water Tower is a Grade II listed concrete structure built between 1922 and 1928 to store drinking water for the Ossett area. The 55m tall tower is a prominent local landmark of the Ossett and Gawthorpe area.Gawthorpe hosts the World Coal Carrying Championships. The Championships were originally run from the Shaw Cross colliery to the May Pole, although the collieries in this area all closed in the Robens era. It also gives its name to the Gawthorpe seam of coal, which stretches from the village down through Horbury and Crigglestone.

Morley Town Hall is a municipal facility in Morley, West Yorkshire, England. The town hall, which is the meeting place of Morley Town Council, is a Grade I listed building.
