Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church

The Netherland Inn and Complex is a historic house museum in Kingsport, Tennessee, United States. Built in 1802 to serve as a boat yard for salt distribution, the property was eventually sold, and in 1818 it became the Netherland Inn, serving travelers en route from Middle Tennessee to Western Kentucky. The inn and boatyard is the only place on the National Register of Historic Places that served as a stage stop and a boatyard.

Hunter Wright Stadium is a baseball park in Kingsport, Tennessee, named for the popular multi-term former mayor. It is the home field of Kingsport Axmen of the summer collegiate Appalachian League. It was previously home to the Kingsport Mets, a Rookie-level Minor League Baseball affiliate of the New York Mets of the Appalachian League from 1995 to 2020. Built in 1995, it seats 2,500 people. The stadium's location, just a couple of miles from the Tennessee-Virginia line, allows Gate City High School in nearby Gate City, Virginia, to rent the field for its baseball games, making Hunter Wright the home field for its Blue Devils baseball team. The facility also hosts a few home games for Kingsport's Dobyns-Bennett High School Indians, returning the favor from when the K-Mets played at the high school's field. Since 1998, it has hosted the Coca-Cola Classic, a series of baseball games between local high school teams.

The Boatyard Historic District, in Sullivan and Hawkins counties near Kingsport, Tennessee is a 385 acres (1.56 km2) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The listing included seven contributing buildings, four contributing sites, and a contributing object.Paraphrasing, it includes area on the north side of the South Fork of the Holston River, area on both sides of the North Fork of the Holston River. It includes the lower end of the Long Island of the Holston (a U.S. National Historical Landmark). It includes most of the land included in the 1802 town of Christianville, all of the land, except the area north of the railroad, included in the 1818 town of Rossville, the Christian's Fort area; and the Rotherwood area. WCSK (90.3 FM) is a non-commercial, educational FM radio station in Kingsport, Tennessee, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to the Kingsport Board of Education. The radio studio is in Dobyns-Bennett High School. The WCSK radio transmitter is mounted on a tower atop Bays Mountain in Kingsport. It broadcasts at an effective radiated power of 195 watts. In addition to the city of Kingsport, the station's signal is heard in portions of Sullivan, Hawkins, and Washington counties in Tennessee, and in parts of Scott County, Virginia.

Bays Mountain Park is a 3,750 acres (15.2 km2) nature park and planetarium located on Bays Mountain in Kingsport, Tennessee. Founded in 1971, it features a 44 acre lake and 40 miles of hiking trails, a nature center with a planetarium theater, fire tower, and animal habitats. Its nature center and outdoor native animal displays include a bobcat, raptor center, wolf pen and captive and free-roaming white-tail deer. Wolf howling sessions are held regularly where visitors can experience the sounds of the gray wolf. There is also a herpetarium with reptiles and amphibians. The park also features an educational pontoon boat ride attraction that runs through the Bays Mountain Reservoir, called the Barge Ride.Other activities include hiking, orienteering, mountain biking, camping, and fishing. There is also an adventure course with a zip line and the Steadman Heritage Farmstead Museum, a 19th-century period living history farm museum. In 2017, the Pavilion at Lily Pad Cove was added for events rentals and special events and in 2019, 75 extra parking spots were added to alleviate peak season parking issues.

The Mountain Music Museum (a.k.a. the ACMA Mountain Music Museum) in Kingsport, Tennessee, was a museum dedicated to the history of music that originated primarily in East Tennessee, North Carolina, Southeast Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia during the 19th century and evolved into what is now generally recognized as bluegrass music and country music. The museum is owned and operated by the nonprofit Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA). Exhibits include vintage musical instruments, recordings, photographs and other memorabilia. Among well-known 20th century performers who have exhibits in the museum are the Carter Family, the Stoneman Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Flatt & Scruggs, Mac Wiseman, The Stanley Brothers, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Mel Street, Archie Campbell and others. Originally based in Bristol, Tennessee, the museum is now located at 316 Broad Street in Kingsport.

Morrison City is an unincorporated community in Sullivan County, Tennessee, United States. Named for pioneer settler Peter Morison, Morrison City developed with the industrial growth of nearby Kingsport, Tennessee, in the 1930s. Peter Morison, his wife Mary Kirkpatrick Morison, and other relatives, are buried in the Morrison Chapel Cemetery, in the heart of the community. They were awarded a land grant by the state of North Carolina, which controlled the area prior to Tennessee Statehood, in 1780. This was to recognize distinguished service during the Battle of King's Mountain. Lynn Garden Drive (Tennessee State Route 36) and U.S. Route 23 intersect where the community's business district once stood, running north and south. Carter's Valley road runs east and west through the community. Bell Ridge School stands to the south of West Carter's Valley Road, behind State Line Baptist Church. This school was the community's only educational enterprise, and was part of the Sullivan County School system until it closed and was purchased by a private school. Tenneva Street and Echo Drive were the main north–south streets before Lynn Garden Drive. Two churches, several businesses, and many homes were removed or relocated when the new US 23 was built through the area in the 1980s. Basset's Dairy Bar, W. D. Sensabaugh's Store, Lee's Barber Shop, a Monument Company, and several fruitstands once operated there. Parker's Grill was a restaurant that later was occupied by a taxidermy shop. Citizens just north of the Virginia state line were categorized by utility companies for several years in a grouping called "Morrison City, Virginia." They maintained Virginia residency, but were served by Tennessee telephone and mail service. The Virginia side had several businesses attracted to the area because of the proximity to the state line, and capitalizing on cheaper goods not available in Tennessee due to differences in state and county laws. These included cigarette sales businesses, liquor trafficking stores, fireworks stands, and a club where alcohol was served to customers. An unnamed tributary of the North Fork of the Holston River begins in the Tennessee side of the Morrison City community and runs through the state line, alongside of the state highway, and empties into the river in Virginia. A natural gap in ridge dividing the two states provides easy access for the roadways.

Long Island (Cherokee: ᎠᎼᏰᎵ ᎫᎾᎯᏔ, romanized: Amoyeli Gunahita), also known as Long Island of the Holston, is an island in the Holston River at Kingsport in East Tennessee. Important in regional history since pre-colonial times, the island is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a U.S. National Historic Landmark District.

Douglass High School was an African-American high school in Kingsport, Tennessee that closed in 1966. At the time, it was the largest African-American school in Upper East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Southeast Kentucky, and the largest between Knoxville, Tennessee and Roanoke, Virginia. It was named for the great African-American statesman Frederick Douglass.

Holston Army Ammunition Plant (HSAAP) manufactures Research Department Explosive (RDX) and High Melting Explosive (HMX) for ammunition production and development. It is a government-owned and contractor-operated (GOCO) facility that is part of the US Army Joint Munitions Command.

The Battle of Island Flats (also Battle at Long Island of the Holston, Battle of Eaton's Station) was the opening battle of the American War of Independence in the west. The battle was fought in July 1776, and pitted the American regional Patriot militia against the British allied Cherokee forces in the Overmountain region of the American frontier.
