Cockerham Priory

St Michael's Church is located to the southwest of the English village of Cockerham, Lancashire. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Lancaster, the archdeaconry of Lancaster and Morecambe, and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is combined with those of Christ Church, Glasson, and St Luke, Winmarleigh. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Cockerham Vicarage is in Rectory Road, Cockerham, Lancashire, England. Originally a vicarage, it was later used as a nursing home. The vicarage is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It was built in 1843 for John Dodson, the church's rector, and designed by the Lancaster architect Edmund Sharpe. It is constructed in sandstone with slate roofs. The building is in three storeys, with tall chimneys and steeply pitched gables. The doorway has a Tudor arch, and above it is a shield carved with an open Bible inscribed "ROM V" (meaning Romans, chapter 5), and a wreath inscribed with "LUCERNA PEDIBUS" (meaning "A lantern to my feet"). There is also a date stone inscribed "I.D.1843".

Cockerham is a small village and civil parish within the City of Lancaster district in Lancashire, England. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Lancaster and 15 miles (24 km) north-northwest of Preston. Lying on the River Cocker, at the estuary of the River Lune, the parish had a population of 671 at the 2011 Census.Cockerham has lain within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire since the Middle Ages, having previously formed a township and parish within the hundred of Lonsdale. Between 1894 and 1974, Cockerham lay within the Lancaster Rural District.Medieval life of Cockerham manor has been recorded in the Custumal of the Manor of Cockerham, compiled in 1326–1327 and revised in 1463. The custumal, a record of rents and services owed by the tenants to their landlord, combines a local code of laws with an inventory of all resources of the land, from peat fuel, cattle and sheep to shoreline mussels. The tenants were forbidden to trade local fuel to the "strangers" who collected mussels on the shore.The local church is St. Michael's. The original parish church was in the middle of the village but was resited on higher ground due to frequent flooding. Close by are the remains of Cockersand Abbey. The village has a pub, the Manor Inn.

Over Wyre is the collective name given to a group of villages in Lancashire, England, situated on the Fylde, to the north and east of the River Wyre. The name distinguishes these villages from the larger southern part of the Fylde, between the Wyre and the Ribble, which includes the urban areas of Blackpool, Poulton-le-Fylde, Thornton, Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Lytham St Annes.

Thurnham Hall is a Grade I listed 17th-century country house in the village of Thurnham, Lancashire, England some 10 km (6 miles) south of Lancaster. The present building is a three-storey stone-built house probably built in the 17th century for Robert Dalton. It stands facing west in 30 acres of rising ground about a half a kilometre (quarter of a mile) from the left bank of the River Conder. The building contains an impressive Jacobean Great Hall and now functions as a resort hotel.

Thurnham is a civil parish in Lancashire, England. It is situated on the south side of the River Lune estuary in the City of Lancaster, and contains the villages of Conder Green, Glasson Dock, Lower Thurnham and Upper Thurnham. The parish has a population of 595, increasing to 651 at the 2011 census.Thurnham is where the River Conder flows into the Lune. The main road through the parish is the A588. It was formerly served by the London and North Western Railway's Glasson Dock Branch railway line, which had three stations in the parish: one at Conder Green, the terminus at Glasson Dock and a private halt at Ashton Hall. To the east of the village stands Thurnham Hall, a 17th-century country house converted to a resort hotel. It was originally the residence of John Pierce Chamberlain Starkie (1830–1888).

Conder Bridge is a Grade II listed single segmental arch bridge spanning the River Conder in the English village of Conder Green, Thurnham, Lancashire. The structure dates to the early 19th century. The bridge carries the vehicular and pedestrian traffic of the A588. The bridge is flanked by piers, with abutments also punctuated by piers. It has a solid parapet with a string course and weathered coping.

The River Cocker is a river in Lancashire, England. The River Cocker rises near to Yeat House Farm and Higher Knowe Hill south of Quernmore, near Lancaster. It runs south westerly through Cocker Clough Wood and Brunstow Wood, then by Hampson Green, before briefly turning north west when joined by Potters Brook at the hamlet of Potters Brook close to the M6 motorway , where it is channeled under the Lancaster Canal. The river then skirts south around Cockerham, by Little Crimbles before being swollen by Park Lane Brook and Lee Brook and flowing into saltflats below Cockersand Abbey on the Lune estuary. The river is, approximately 17.5 km (10.9 miles) in length.Cockerham Marsh is a designated SSSI and the Cocker Estuary is a favoured overwintering site of migratory pink-footed goose, which can be seen in flocks of over one thousand, at times. It is also nationally important for other winter seabirds, including oystercatcher, turnstone, grey plover, knot, curlew, common redshank and dunlin. In summer, it hosts impressive numbers of ringed plover.

St Luke's Church is in the village of Winmarleigh, Lancashire, England. It is an active Church of England parish church in the Diocese of Blackburn, the archdeaconry of Lancaster, and the deanery of Lancaster and Morecambe. The church was built in 1875–1876 by Paley and Austin, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The Stork (formerly known as the Stork Hotel) is a public house and inn in the English village of Conder Green, Thurnham, Lancashire. A former coaching inn, the building dates to 1660. It is now a Grade II listed building.The building stands on the northern side of the curved junction of Corricks Lane and the A588, about 350 feet (110 m) north of the River Conder and about 800 feet (240 m) north of Conder Bridge, another Grade II listed structure.In January 2020, a fire severely damaged the building. It reopened in August 2021, after twenty months of repairs and renovations.

Winmarleigh is a village and civil parish of the Borough of Wyre in Lancashire, England. The population taken at the 2011 census was 273. The village, which is north-west of Garstang, has an agricultural college, and the Duchy of Lancaster has an estate here. This includes the local pub, the Patten Arms. It is home to the great manor of Winmarleigh Hall. Constructed to the order of the Duchy of Lancaster, it was given to the first Lord Winmarleigh. Since then the house has been donated to NST Travel Group, who have turned the grounds into an outdoor education programme for schools across the country.Winmarleigh railway station opened in 1870 on the Garstang and Knot-End Railway. It was renamed Nateby railway station in 1902 and closed in 1930.The school and school house, which date from 1870, were designed by Lancaster architects Paley and Austin. The current Lord of the Manor of Winmarleigh is Shawn Casini. This was re-enacted in 2023.
