The Dred and Ellen Yelverton House is a historic home located near Fremont, Wayne County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect George Franklin Barber, is one of the most intact Barber houses in North Carolina. It was built about 1913, and is a two-story, weatherboarded frame dwelling with elements of Queen Anne and Colonial Revival style architecture. It has a steep deck-on-hip slate roof, one-story rear ell, and one- and two-story wraparound verandah. Also on the property is a contributing Carbide House (c. 1913). The building was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Black Creek Rural Historic District is a national historic district located near Black Creek, Wilson County, North Carolina. It encompasses 68 contributing buildings in a rural area near Black Creek. The district developed after 1787 and includes notable examples of Federal, Georgian, and Greek Revival style architecture. Notable buildings include the Shadrack Dickinson House (1787), Dr. Brooks House (c. 1852), John Woodard House (c. 1800), Stephen Woodard House (c. 1817), and Dr. Stephen Woodard House (c. 1855).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

W. H. Applewhite House is a historic plantation house located near Stantonsburg, Wilson County, North Carolina. It was built about 1847, and is a two-story, three-bay, single pile, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a one-story, shed roofed rear wing. It features a double-gallery porch with sawn ornament and trim added about 1900. The house was remodeled about 1870–1880. Also on the property are the contributing tenant house, packhouse, stables, sheds, and tobacco barns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Aycock Birthplace, also known as the Charles B. Aycock Birthplace, is a historic home in Wayne County, North Carolina, and a historic site belonging to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources' Historic Sites division. The property was the location of the birth of Governor Charles Brantley Aycock in 1859, and exhibits at the historic site serve to tell the story of the Governor's political career and the education reforms he enacted while in office. It was built about 1840, and is a one-story weatherboard dwelling on a brick pier foundation. It has a gable roof and exterior end chimneys. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Ward-Applewhite-Thompson House is a historic plantation house located near Stantonsburg, Wilson County, North Carolina. It was built about 1859, and is a boxy two-story, three-bay, double pile, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a shallow hipped roof and wrap-around Colonial Revival style porch with Doric order columns added about 1900. Attached to the rear of the house is a gable roofed one-story kitchen connected by a breezeway. Also on the property are a number of contributing outbuildings including two packhouses, stable, and tobacco barns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

This area of North Carolina is near the birthplace of Governor Charles Brantley Aycock. During Governor Aycock's term, he advocated improving North Carolina's public schools. Even after his term as governor, he continued to work on the improvement of schools in the country. It is because of Governor Aycock's passion for public education for students that the school got its name.

It was built about 1830, and is a two-story, three-bay, single pile, "L"-plan, Federal style frame dwelling. It has a two-story wing added in the mid-19th century, side gable roof, exterior end chimneys, and hipped-roof porch with flared columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Wayne Executive Jetport (ICAO: KGWW, FAA LID: GWW) is a public use airport located in Pikeville, NC, three miles north of Goldsboro, in Wayne County, North Carolina. The airport is owned by Wayne County. It was formerly Goldsboro-Wayne Municipal Airport, when it was owned by both City of Goldsboro and Wayne County. The Jetport is governed by the Wayne Executive Jetport (WEJP) Commission, which assists the county with management and development at the Jetport. The WEJP Commission consists of seven members, each serving a two-year term as appointed by the Wayne County Commissioners, along with one member from the Board of County Commissioners. Each January the WEJP Board elects the Chair and Vice Chair leadership positions for the year. Based on 2020 economic data, the Wayne Executive Jetport provides $1,800,000 in tax revenue to the local area, 345 jobs are supported, $58,200,000 local economic impact, and over 16,200 annual operations are conducted. There is a population of over 215,000 living within 30 minutes of the Jetport. Since July 2018 over $13,000,000 of investment has been made at the Jetport expanding the facility and operations. In 2020 The Executive Director of the WEJP was presented with the General Aviation Manager of the Year award for the Southern region of the FAA. Many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA. However, this airport is assigned GWW by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA. The GWW code is not currently used by the IATA, but it was previously assigned to the former RAF Gatow in Berlin, Germany.
