St Dunstan's Abbey

Victoria Park is a park in Millbridge, Plymouth, England. It extends at the eastern end from the bowling green beneath what was once a railway viaduct to what is now the merging of Molesworth Road and Eldad Hill, and which once was a toll bridge, and an important thoroughfare between Devonport and Plymouth.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Mary and Saint Boniface in Plymouth, England, is the seat of the Bishop of Plymouth and mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Plymouth, which covers the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. The Diocese of Plymouth was created in 1850 after the issuing of the papal bull Universalis Ecclesiae. In 1858 the new condign cathedral was opened and put under the patronage of the Virgin Mary and Saint Boniface, the latter thought to have been born in Crediton in the area of the diocese. The cathedral is also used by Royal Navy personnel stationed at HMNB Devonport for the annual naval mass celebrated in July.

Millbridge is a small neighbourhood of Plymouth, on the boundary of what used to be the towns of Plymouth and Devonport, in the English county of Devon. What was originally a self-standing village (which has now been subsumed within the city) lies to the north of the toll bridge, originally built by Sir Piers Edgcumbe in 1525, that crossed what used to be the Deadlake or Stonehouse Creek, to the west of Pennycomequick, the south of Stoke village and to the east of Stoke Church. It derives its name from the old toll bridge (adjacent to a naval saw mill) across the creek between Eldad Hill and Molesworth Road, at one time the principal link between Plymouth and Devonport. The creek to the east of the bridge was filled in with material from the quarries at Cattedown and Oreston during the late 1890s and the ground created became a municipal park, Victoria Park, which was officially opened in 1903. The remainder of the creek to the west of Millbridge, up to Stonehouse Bridge and Pool, was filled in and by 1972 the whole area had been developed as rugby pitches. These pitches are often used by Devonport High School for Boys and the Old Boys RFC.

Union Street in Plymouth, Devon, is a long straight street connecting the city centre to Devonport, the site of Plymouth's naval base and docks. Originally the home of wealthy people, it later became an infamous red-light district and the location of most of the city's night-life.

The Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse was a medical facility for naval officers and other ranks at Stonehouse, Plymouth.

The Palace Theatre is a disused theatre in Union Street, Plymouth, Devon in south west England. It opened in 1898 as a music hall but was damaged by fire only three months after opening, and was re-opened in 1899 as the New Palace Theatre of Varieties. In 1961 it was converted to a bingo hall, but later reverted to being a theatre as the Palace Theatre until 1983, when it became The Academy disco and finally operated as the Dance Academy, before being closed after Class A drugs were found on the premises. The theatre was built in the Flemish Renaissance style, with the interior in an Art Nouveau style, with nautical features. It is now deteriorating while an agreement is reached about its future and it is listed as an "at risk" building. It is a grade II* listed building.

The Millennium Complex is a structure in Plymouth, England, built as a cinema in 1931. As the Gaumont Palace it provided a 2,250-seat single screen. In 1962 the stalls were converted into a dance hall, The Majestic, reducing the cinema, then operated by Odeon, to a capacity of 1,043. Both businesses closed in 1980 with the site becoming home to a roller disco. This also closed in 1987 when it was converted into a night club which operated under various names until its closure in 2004. The site was purchased by KHH Ltd in 2007, with plans to convert it into flats, these were halted by the Great Recession. In 2013 the religious broadcaster GOD TV entered into a 25-year lease on the complex, intending to convert it into a conference centre. Conversion works were slow and in 2019 the company terminated its lease. In 2020 the site was acquired by a joint venture between Nudge Community Builders, a community benefit society, and developer Eat Work Art. The parties have applied for planning permission to convert part of the site into business units for small manufacturers.

Plymouth Pavilions is an entertainment and sports complex in Plymouth, Devon, England. The arena is used as an entertainment venue and also for corporate hire. The Pavilions is built on the site of the former Millbay railway station that is directly opposite the Duke of Cornwall Hotel. The granite pillars which can be seen outside the main entrance were once the gate posts to the station.

Plymouth Millbay railway station was the original railway terminus in Plymouth, Devon, England. It was used for passenger trains from 1849 to 1941. It was rebuilt in 1903.

Stoke, also referred to by its earlier name of Stoke Damerel, is an inner suburb of the city of Plymouth, Devon, England. In 1844, Stoke Damerel was described as a parish in Roborough hundred, adjoining the borough of Plymouth, and including Devonport within it. In 1914, Devonport and Plymouth amalgamated with Stonehouse, and the new town took the name of Plymouth. Stoke is now densely built up with family houses and bisected by the main railway line from Paddington to Penzance. The parish church is notable not only for its evolving architecture, but also its contents and historical connections. The area has been prosperous for several hundred years, and there are distinguished private houses dating to Georgian and Victorian times, several of which feature in Nikolaus Pevsner's South Devon. Stoke Damerel Primary School educates approximately 320 pupils of ages 4–11.Devonport High School for Boys on Paradise Road draws pupils from all over the city and parts of south-west Devon and south-east Cornwall.

Pennycomequick is the site of a former Devonport prison that today forms part of the inner suburbs of the city of Plymouth, Devon, England. It is mostly known for its eccentric name, taken, locals believe, from The Penny pub situated by the roundabout north of the railway bridge over Saltash Road. A Brythonic derivation of the name Pen y cwm coet, meaning the head of a wooded valley, or Pen y cwm gwyk, referring to the nearby creek, is a possibility. The roundabout is near the end of the former Deadlake, a sea inlet reclaimed at the end of the 19th century to form Victoria Park. It is located behind and above the Plymouth railway station and south of Central Park. The area is an assembly point for supporters of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, which is located nearby in Central Park. The pub closed in 2009 and after changing hands many times, has now been converted into student accommodation. Most younger Plymothians attach the name only to the large busy roundabout beside the old pub building. In the centre of the roundabout is a prominent curious stunted statue of Isambard Kingdom Brunel with his trademark stovepipe hat. The one-time MP for Plymouth and then Plymouth Sutton Waldorf Astor, 2nd Viscount Astor, named a racehorse he bred after this area of Plymouth (as he did many others) and the filly won the 1929 Oaks Stakes.

Plymouth Pannier Market, also called Plymouth City Market, is a pannier market in Plymouth, Devon. The building was designed by local architects Walls & Pearn and built in 1959 and 1960. The market was granted Grade II listed status in 2003, and is seen as one of Plymouth's most innovative and important post-war buildings.: 18  It gets over a million visitors per year, making it one of the most visited markets in the country.
