The Drum Theatre is a theatre in Plymouth, England, part of the Theatre Royal. The Drum Theatre has a capacity of 200 people and specialises in the production of new plays. It won the Peter Brook Empty Space Award in 2007, and often collaborates with other subsidised companies and venues such as the Royal Court, ATC, the Lyric Hammersmith, the Bush Theatre, Frantic Assembly, Hampstead Theatre, Paines Plough, the Traverse Theatre and the Tron Glasgow. In 2007 it put on a production of Flower Girls, a play featuring disabled women.

Theatre Royal, Plymouth, is a theatre venue in Plymouth, Devon. It consists of a 1,300-seat main auditorium, The Lyric, which regularly hosts large-scale musicals, opera and ballet; a 200-seat studio, The Drum; and a 50-seat studio, The Lab. On a separate site, Theatre Royal Plymouth also has a production and learning centre, TR2, featuring rehearsal studios and workshops for the production of set and costumes. The theatre is a National Portfolio Organisation, receiving regular funding from Arts Council England.A £7 million Regeneration Project was completed in September 2013 with a renovated front of house area and community performance space called The Lab. A 7-metre-high (23 ft) bronze sculpture depicting a crouching female actor called Messenger was unveiled in front of the theatre, in 2019.

Messenger is a large statue in Plymouth, UK, created by the Cornish artist Joseph Hillier, depicting a female actor crouching in preparation to run onstage. It was commissioned by and installed outside the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in 2019 in preparation for the city's Mayflower 400 celebrations. At 7 metres (23 ft) tall and 9 metres (30 ft) wide, and weighing 10 tonnes (22,000 lb), it is the largest sculpture ever created in the United Kingdom using the lost-wax casting process. It was cast over 18 months in the Castle Fine Arts foundry in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Powys, and delivered by barge across Plymouth Sound.

The Armada Centre is a shopping centre in Plymouth, England. It was established in 1986 and refurbished in 2004. The centre is laid out on three floors, with Sainsbury's occupying the upper floor. Other retailers that are housed on the ground floor include Wilko and Laura Ashley. It had a skywalk to the Mayflower West car park, both since demolished after the car park was found to be structurally unsound.

Derry's Clock Tower (or Derry's Cross) is a free-standing clock tower in the city of Plymouth, England. The clock and the nearby former bank are the only buildings to survive the Blitz and postwar development in the immediate area. On 1 May 1975, English Heritage listed the clock tower at Grade II for its architectural and historical importance.

Plymouth Civic Centre is the former headquarters of Plymouth City Council on Armada Way in Plymouth, Devon, England. The building is in two sections, comprising a 14-storey tower block which housed the council's offices, and a two-storey southern wing called the Council House which includes the council chamber and is linked to the tower block by a bridge at first floor level. The building was completed in 1962. The council sold the tower block part of the building in 2015, but the Council House remains the council's meeting place. The whole complex has been a Grade II listed building since 2007.

The Millennium Complex is a structure in Plymouth, England, built as a cinema in 1931. As the Gaumont Palace it provided a 2,250-seat single screen. In 1962 the stalls were converted into a dance hall, The Majestic, reducing the cinema, then operated by Odeon, to a capacity of 1,043. Both businesses closed in 1980 with the site becoming home to a roller disco. This also closed in 1987 when it was converted into a night club which operated under various names until its closure in 2004. The site was purchased by KHH Ltd in 2007, with plans to convert it into flats, these were halted by the Great Recession. In 2013 the religious broadcaster GOD TV entered into a 25-year lease on the complex, intending to convert it into a conference centre. Conversion works were slow and in 2019 the company terminated its lease. In 2020 the site was acquired by a joint venture between Nudge Community Builders, a community benefit society, and developer Eat Work Art. The parties have applied for planning permission to convert part of the site into business units for small manufacturers.

Millbay, also known as Millbay Docks, is an area of dockland in Plymouth, Devon, England. It lies south of Union Street, between West Hoe in the east and Stonehouse in the west. The area is currently subject to a public-private regeneration creating new homes, business premises, marina, a 1000-pupil school and opening up the waterfront to greater public access.

Greatest Hits Radio Plymouth is an Independent Local Radio station serving Plymouth, Devon in England. Previously called Radio Plymouth, the station was folded into Greatest Hits Radio South West, as part of a rebrand, on 1 November 2020.

The siege of Plymouth took place during the First English Civil War, when Royalist forces besieged Plymouth, in Devon, held by a Parliamentary garrison. With the exception of a brief interlude in July 1644, the town was isolated for most of the period from August 1642 to January 1646; however, control of the sea meant the garrison could easily be resupplied. The Royalists recognised this made its capture extremely difficult, and they generally restricted operations to a land blockade. However, there were two serious attempts to capture the town; the first, from October to December 1643, the second, January to February 1645. The town was finally relieved in February 1646.
