Australian National University

The Australian National University Library is part of the Australian National University in Canberra, one of the world's major research universities.

William Francis Roy (9 December 1924 – 23 March 1991) was an Australian whistleblower who worked as the Principal Technical Officer at Telecom Tower, and alleged the existence of a secret surveillance center in the tower in an unaired 1991 interview with Jana Wendt. He later died in hospital following a suspicious bicycle crash. Roy began his career as part of the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II, enlisting shortly after his 18th birthday in 1943. Following his discharge in 1946, Roy became a staunch communist,: p. 67  and activist: p. 15  gaining him the attention of ASIO. By the time he died they had collected a 36-page report on him. He later joined the Australian Labor Party in a tactical move to gain a promotion.

The Australian National Dictionary Centre (ANDC) at the Australian National University in Canberra is a major centre for lexicographical research in Australia. It is jointly funded by the Australian National University and Oxford University Press Australia and New Zealand. The Centre conducts research into Australian English and provides Oxford University Press with editorial expertise for its Australian dictionaries.

Acton is a suburb of Canberra, ACT, Australia. Acton covers an area west of the CBD, bordered by Black Mountain to the west and Lake Burley Griffin in the south. The Australian National University campus covers most of the suburb, though also located in Acton is the National Film and Sound Archive, a branch of the CSIRO and the National Museum of Australia. At the 2021 census Acton had a population of 2,848 people, mostly students living at the Australian National University.

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) is an agency of the Australian Government tasked with improving the accessibility and availability of government services online by helping government "transform services to be simple, clear and fast." Succeeding the Digital Transformation Office, the DTA was established on 14 October 2016.The agency has the stated goal of overseeing the "Digital Transformation Strategy" for the Australian Government to become "one of the leading digital governments in the world by 2025". Generally the agency oversees various interdepartmental government projects and provides consultancy and products to other official bodies.

Canberra University College was a tertiary education institution established in Canberra by the Australian government and the University of Melbourne in 1930. At first it operated in the Telopea Park School premises after hours. Most of the initial students were public servants and all were part-timers. After WWII funding for the college was increased significantly.The college operated until 1960 when it was incorporated into the Australian National University as the School of General Studies. Over the course of its operation it had two directors, Sir Robert Garran from 1930 to 1953 and Bertram Thomas Dickson from 1954 to 1960. It was staffed by many notable academics including economist Heinz Wolfgang Arndt, philosopher Kurt Baier, poet Leslie Allen, historian Manning Clark and botanist Lindsay Pryor.

Australian National University Football Club (more commonly known as ANU FC) is an Australian amateur association football club representing the Australian National University based in Acton, Australian Capital Territory. Founded in 1962, the club is inclusive of both current and graduated students and currently competes in the ACT National Premier Leagues 2.

The ANU College of Law is the law school at the Australian National University and one of the seven academic Colleges of the ANU. It is located in Canberra, the capital of Australia. This provides the College with opportunities to connect with the work of the Parliament of Australia, the High Court of Australia, the departments and agencies of the Federal Government, as well as the local ACT law-making institutions – the Legislative Assembly and the ACT courts.The ANU College of Law is a premier law school in Australia. It is ranked 4th nationally and equal 17th in the world according to the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject.The Dean of the College is Professor Anthony Connolly.

The ANU Joint Colleges of Science is the combined sciences faculty at the Australian National University. They deliver research and teaching in science, environment, medicine and health. The Colleges count five Nobel laureates including the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Brian Schmidt who jointly won the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics. The Colleges also boast other prominent academics such as Graham Farquhar who is the first Australian to win a Kyoto Prize in Basic Sciences for his life's work in plant biophysics and photosynthesis, which has involved research on water-efficient crops and the impacts of climate change.

The ANU Medical School (ANUMS) is a graduate medical school of the Australian National University, a public university located in Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. Established in November 2003 following accreditation by the Australian Medical Council (AMC), ANUMS commenced offering studies in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.) (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus et Chirurgiae Baccalaureus) program and, under the leadership of the Foundation Dean, Professor Paul Gatenby, the first cohort of students commenced in February 2004. In January 2014 the AMC approved the ANU Medical School changing its medical program to the award of the MChD (Latin: Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda) program. The current Dean of Medicine is Professor Imogen Mitchell and Deputy Dean of Medicine Professor Zsuzsoka Kecskes.

The Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs is a constituent of the College of Asia and the Pacific, but was formerly part of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, ANU, which was founded in 1946 as part of the Institute of Advanced Studies at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. In 2015 it was renamed in honour of Coral Bell, a leading Australian scholar of international politics.

Toad Hall is a residential hall for the Australian National University, primarily for post-graduate students drawn from some 50 countries across the globe.It is located at the corner of Barry Drive and Kingsley Street, Acton. Sullivans Creek and the Drill Hall Gallery are nearby.The Toad Hall residence was designed by internationally acclaimed Australian architect John Andrews in the early 1970s, with construction starting in 1973 and opening to its first residents in April 1974. It was considered quite a 'revolutionary' design in student residences at that time and is listed on the ACT Chapter of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Register of Significant Twentieth Century Architecture and on the Commonwealth Heritage List.The University Council allowed the hall of residence to be named Toad Hall following the recommendation of the first residents of the hall where the setting, with the long line of willow trees between the hall and Sullivans Creek, was evocative of Kenneth Grahame's children's novel, The Wind in the Willows. It is the only residence on campus named by its first residents.
