Peasedown St John (commonly referred to as Peasedown) is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, standing on a hilltop roughly 5 miles (8 km) south-southwest of the city of Bath, and 2 miles (3 km) north-east of the town of Radstock at the foot of the Mendip Hills. Peasedown used to be a coal mining village, and after the last of the mines shut in the 1970s it became a dormitory village for Bath, Trowbridge and to a lesser extent Bristol. Its size was increased by substantial housing developments in the 1960s, 1970s and late 1990s, making it one of the largest villages in Somerset.

Dunkerton railway station served the village of Dunkerton, Somerset, England from 1910 to 1925. It was constructed as part of the extension of the original Bristol and North Somerset Railway Camerton branch line, carried out by the Great Western Railway between 1906 and 1910. This created a new railway which ran eastwards from the former terminus at Camerton through Dunkerton, Combe Hay, Midford and Monkton Combe before connecting to the Great Western Railway main line at Limpley Stoke.

The Church of St Peter at Camerton Park in Camerton, Somerset, England was built in the 15th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.From 1800 to 1839 the vicar was the archaeologist John Skinner. He excavated numerous antiquities, especially barrows, such as those at Priddy and Stoney Littleton; and he made visits for antiquarian purposes to many places. His journals (1803–34), published many years after his death, are preserved at the British Library. Skinner committed suicide by shooting himself in 1839, despite which he may have been buried in consecrated ground at Camerton.In the early 19th century the church still had a medieval nave and chancel which Skinner started to extend. This was revised by Thomas Garner in 1892 by the family of John Jarrett, the lord of the manor. The north chapel was built in 1638 by the Carew family and still remains. There are several monuments to members of the Carew and Lansdown families within the church.The parish is part of the benefice of Timsbury with Priston, Camerton and Dunkerton within the deanery of Midsomer Norton.

Writhlington SSSI (grid reference ST703553) is a 0.5 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Radstock, Bath and North East Somerset, notified in 1992. This is the site of old mine workings on the Somerset coalfield, including 3,000 tons of Upper Carboniferous spoil from which more than 1,400 insect fossil specimens have been recovered, including the world's earliest known Damselfly. It is a Geological Conservation Review Site, because it has yielded the largest ever collection of Carboniferous insects in Britain. The commonest forms belong to the order Blattodea (cockroaches) and include the extinct families Archimylacris and Mymarommatidae. Protorthoptera and Palaeodictyoptera also occur. Frequent chelicerates (arthropods) include trace and body fossils of xiphosurid merostomes and arachnids, including Phalangiotarbida and Trigonotarbida and also true spiders (Araneida). Rare myriapods (millipedes) and occasional conchostracan crustaceans (clam-shrimps) also occur.

The Church of All Saints is an Anglican parish church in Dunkerton Somerset, England. It was built in the 14th century with the tower being added in the 15th and has been designated as a Grade II* listed building.The church consists of a nave, chancel and west porch. The three-stage tower is supported by diagonal buttresses and has a stair turret in the north east corner. The stained glass includes work by Clayton and Bell.In the churchyard is a large yew tree close to the boundary wall.The parish is part of the benefice of Timsbury with Priston, Camerton and Dunkerton within the archdeaconry of Midsomer Norton.

Norton Radstock is the name of a former parish council that covered the conurbation of Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Westfield, in the English ceremonial county of Somerset. Created in 1974 as a large civil parish, it was abolished in 2011 and replaced by three smaller parishes.The conurbation is within the area of the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset – 8 miles (13 km) south west of Bath, and the same distance north west of Frome. It had a population of 21,325 at the 2001 census. The term Norton Radstock is not recognised by local residents, nor does it appear on any road map. Besides the towns of Midsomer Norton and Radstock, and the parish of Westfield, the parish encompassed the smaller settlements of Clandown, Haydon, Welton and Writhlington. Norton Radstock was twinned with Ambarès-et-Lagrave in France from September 1982.

Camerton (Somerset) railway station served the village of Camerton, England from 1882 to 1951 on the Bristol and North Somerset Railway. In common with the other stations on the line it had a single platform for passengers, but also had a loop line so that two trains could pass. Diverging away from the through line at the east end of the station was the access line and associated sidings belonging to Camerton colliery. There was a substantial station building on the platform - this originally had a canopy but this was removed after passenger services ceased.

The Radstock rail accident took place on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway in south west England, on 7 August 1876. Two trains collided on a single track section, resulting in fifteen passengers being killed. It was difficult to assign blame to any individual for the crash. The underlying cause was that the Somerset and Dorset Railway was essentially bankrupt at the time of the crash. The infrastructure was inadequate to the demands of the traffic and the staff were inadequately trained for their duties.

Tunley Camp is an vallate Iron Age hill fort situated approximately 0.8 miles (1.3 km) north-east from the small village of Camerton in the Bath and North East Somerset district of Somerset, England. The hill fort comprises the slight earthwork remains of a univallate Iron Age hillfort which now nearly ploughed down.
