Obrenovac

Belo Polje (Serbian: Бело Поље) is a village located in the municipality of Obrenovac, Belgrade, Serbia. As of 2011 census, it has a population of 1,836 inhabitants.

The Mihajlović family house is situated in Obrenovac, in 182 Miloša Obrenovića Street. The settlement Obrenovac was mentioned for the first time in the historical sources under the name Palež, in 1718, in the Austrian state register of the Valjevo District, as a settlement consisted of eleven households. The archaeological findings show that the settlement was much older than that and that it dates back from the period of the Roman Empire. Due to its economical, administrative and educational and cultural importance, in 1859, in the honour of the return of Miloš Obrenović to Serbia, the settlement obtained the status of a town and a new name – Obrenovac.

Zabrežje was known as an important border settlement, in the 19th century, and a major transportation hub, including river port, in the first half of the 20th century.

The Obrenovac-Surčin Bridge (Serbian: Мост Обреновац-Сурчин, romanized: Most Obrenovac-Surčin) is the bridge crossing the river Sava in the suburban section of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. With the partially steel and partially concrete construction today, the building of the bridge began in 1994 when it was conceived as the carrier for the district heating pipeline. The works were halted in 1997 and the project was adapted to include the carriageways. Construction was resumed in 2010 and the bridge was opened on 1 December 2011.

TPP Nikola Tesla, commonly known as TENT, is a power plant complex operated by Elektroprivreda Srbije, located on the right bank of the river Sava, approximately 40 km upstream from Downtown Belgrade, near the city municipality of Obrenovac. By far the largest one in Serbia, the complex generates around 17,263 GWh annually, which covers almost half of Serbia's needs for electricity. The complex and two of its plants are named in honor of Nikola Tesla. These power plants use lignite mined from the RB Kolubara as fuel. Coal is transported from the mines via a standard-gauge railroad about 30 km long capable of supplying a total of 37 million tons of coal a year.

The Obrenovac-Surčin Bridge on A2 motorway (Serbian: Мост Обреновац-Сурчин, romanized: Most Obrenovac-Surčin) is the bridge crossing the rivers Kolubara and Sava in the suburban section of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is part of the A2 motorway, in Serbia more often called Corridor XI. Preparatory works on the bridge began on 12 February 2017 and it was ceremonially opened, with the adjoining Obrenovac-Surčin section of the motorway, on 17 December 2019.

The Kolubara (Serbian Cyrillic: Колубара, pronounced [kɔlǔbara]) is a 87 km (54 mi) long river in western Serbia; it is an eastern, right tributary to the Sava river. Due to the many long tributaries creating a branchy system within the river's drainage basin, the short Kolubara drains relatively large area of 3,639 km2 (1,405 sq mi). It is part of the larger Black Sea drainage. The river is not navigable, but its valley is very important for transportation. Here are located Belgrade-Valjevo road, parts of Belgrade-Šabac road, Ibarska magistrala (Highway of Ibar) and the Belgrade-Bar railway. The Kolubara was the site of one of the major battles on the Balkans in the World War I, the Battle of Kolubara in 1914. There is a game hunting ground "Kolubara" in the valley of the river, on the territory of the Lazarevac municipality.
